What are some stereotypes in your country 😮 ? (Good or bad)

Same I'm also from Thailand and we were talking about the bombing of Pearl harbor and some kids in my class looked at me and said "tell your people not to do that again" but I told them I was Thai not Japanese but they thought that it was all the same so I said out loud "If we did it once we will surely do it again"

“how do you say im single in Chinese?” “im Thai!” “perfect thank you” “wait-“

Stop because there was a new girl from china that went in my class(it was a class where everyone was learning Chinese)and she didn't speak my language well. So my teacher wanted her to talk with a chinese to feel less lonely. She called literally every asian kid in my class, vietnamese, japanese, Korean. And personally, when she called me she was like -"so i'm considering sitting you next to yuxian (if i remember correctly that was her name), and i was like : -"okay but i won't be able to talk to her that well" - "aren't you chinese" -" No" - "but your asian " -"yeah but i'm not chinese" -"well you look Chinese " And that is the day are realized that teachers can be f-ing stupid. Turned out she did that for all the asian kids. I was in 10th grade. Imagine being a 10th grade teacher and not know that there are more countries in asia than china. Honestly, I'm still a little mad about it to this day.

I once told an Uber driver that I was from Taiwan and he said "oh I love Thai food" 😂

my Chinese friend recently got asked if she was Asian or Chinese 💀

My friend was from Laos and someone asked her to translate boy in luv by bts 💀

Kids at my school don’t know geography so when they found out that Philippines was an Asian country and they knew I was Filipino, they started to ask if I spoke Chinese 🤦🏽‍♀️ Someone also said to me that ‘You’re not Asian, you Filipino.’ 😀

One time in class we where talking about history and one part was related to Korea. Then my teacher went to the girl “Hey how’s Korea?” And then she said “I’m Chinese” Ironically someone who was from Korea was sitting next to her-

The school gave me a locker beside all the Korean kids' lockers. Then called me down to tell me where it was. The teacher jokingly told me I'd have an easier time making friends with my locker mates. I told them I'm not Korean and they hit me with the "oh, are you sure?" Uhhhh, am I sure? Really?

So in class my friend when we were learning about a Japanese artist she turned around and said that’s you! Then I was like .. I’m Vietnamese…

you can’t even imagine my school problems as a Russian. - do you drink vodka? - do you have a pet bear? - WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE WAR???? - are you best friends with Putin?

This is so relatable I was the only Chinese kid in my school and people would do this ALL THE TIME and say things like “hey read this” and show me a sentence in Korean,Japanese,Vietnamese,or any language in Asia and I don’t even know how to read Chinese I only can speak and understand it.

I'm a Filipino girl and people believing the stereotype about Asians being extremely smart is quite common in my school. I just like to participate in school. I'm one of a few Asians, and one time, when I was writing out my answer on the whiteboard, someone yelled "CHING CHONG EGG ROLL," at me. I couldn't see the person because they said it while I was writing but I was about to beat their ass. But my friend consoled me and I calmed down.

When you're the only asian in school, you are the representative of every asian countries 😂😂😂

This is the most relatable thing ever, im half chinese and i look so asian.. people keep coming up to me and ask me if i eat dog meat or to translate something from chinese, im still learning chinese because im not fluent in it so this feels so offensive to me 😭

I'm from Taiwan, and when I was in an international school in Hong Kong they asked me "Where are you from?" I simply replied "Taiwan". The next day, everyone asked me about freaking Thailand. I said it's Taiwan not Thailand and one of them replied "You mean China?" FU一

As a vietnamese person, many people kept confusing me as chinese... but I can also speak chinese. In history, we learnt about the Vietnam war and my friends kept giving me the side eye.

Im not the only asian at my school i might be like one out of five Asians but people bash on me all the time because im mixed filipino with lighter skin (my dads white plus i live in a cooler place so i dont get out much) neverless tho people always come up to me and say things like “can you translate this k-pop song?” Or “omg look its an anime girl”(yes somebody said this, yes i beat them up)

I was in a class where the only Asian teen was half Mexican/vietnamese. They all said he was Chinese despite him speaking English, Vietnamese, and Excellent Spanish btw! He was the only Asian in the class.

People, this happens to all foreigners everywhere: all Asians are Chinese, all latinos are Mexican and all Africans must be black, you cannot be African and be lighter. And you here things like this: where are you from? I’m Chilean -Oh, great, please give me your recipe for guacamole. I heard that you’re Chilean, I have a Mexican friend, do you know him? I was the only asian back in one of the areas i grew up in, im Taiwanese, but everyone would assume im thai, and speak thai, everytime they asked what language we speak i said Mandarin and they'd ask, isn't it thai, because they've never heard.of.taiwan,.at least back then, 15+ years ago, haha reminded me of those moments

bruh... ok, putting american and european aside, even asian people get confused with my ethnicity. I'm Chinese, but im not from china. I live in Malaysia, but I'm not Malay. I'm a chinese malaysian. chinese is the race, and malaysian is the nationality. There's 3 main ethnicity in malaysia (Malay, Indians, Chinese) like every single person (no joke) that's not from my country, other than Singaporean. LITERALLY ask if I'm malay (their short form version of malaysian) or if im from china and i get triggered all the time. This is for everyone out there, if you meet someone that's from Malaysia next time, ASK about their ethnicity first before assuming everyone is "Malay" or make the short form version of the word malaysian into malay.

In highschool a guy in my P.E. class asked me what I was mixed with. I told him I was half Chamorro, from an island in the Pacific. He said "Oh, like Hawaii." I said yeah, but our island is called Guam. He stared at me for a second and said "Yeah...I'm just gonna call you Hawaii." He never even asked my name, just called me Hawaii all year long.
