Asics GlideRide 3 - Bottomless Cushioning 

Thanks. Nice review. The principal reason for the groove on the bottom is to save weight. I guess seeing the EVA plate is a bonus. The AHAR outsole is probably the longest-lasting rubber of any shoe company. I have 700km on a pair of GlideRide 2s and the outsole is still good. This shoe is a daily trainer good for long distances. I was hoping for a better upper that would be more breathable than the last version, but that is probably next year's update as they changed the midsole in the new version. I see the toebox bends now. I had no problems with the last version's toebox, but obviously, some people did. Finally, the offset in this version is 1mm more than the last version making it 6mm.

I totally agree with every single word you’ve said about this new version. But there’s one problem that should be addressed here: in my opinion, this shoe is not true to size. I usually use size 11 (American size). The one I bought is an 11 1/2, but my big toe still rubs at the front of the toe box, and with this it’s impossible to go for long runs. So, if anyone is interested in buying this shoe, I believe you are making an excellent option, but you should really be considering this, and think about buying one a size bigger than the one you are used to.

For Nimbus 23 runners this will be the best replacement… 24 is too soft and can even bottom out for heavy folks

I completely disagree with the conclusion on the Glideride 3. I find it to be a very versatile trainer suitable for both slower and tempo runs. IMO, the Nimbus is still better suited for longer, slower runs, though it is possible to pick up the pace in that shoe. The Cumulus 24 is the slowest of the bunch and doesn't like being pushed, in my experience. In fact, I only grab the Glideride 3 when I'm going on a tempo run due to its firmer midsole. I go with the Nimbus when I expect a more relaxed run with the potential to do a small tempo stretch at the end of the run.

It would be tough decision to choose between the GlideRide 3 VS Nova Blast 3 ! But I think I will wait for the NB 3 instead ...Go Asics !!

I can already see the wear and tear of the ahar rubber outsoles at the heel being smoothed out and ground down considerably.

Any experience about gravel getting stuck in the guideline on this one? I love Glideride 2, but once in a while I have some running on gravel roads and it’s absolutely impossible to use Glideride 2 there since you cannot run 10 meters (literally) before you have stones/gravel getting stuck in the guideline. Since it’s the soft foam exposed inside the guideline the stones will not let go until you stop and manually remove it. Extremely irritating in such an otherwise amazing shoe. I really hope Glideride 3 can handle this better.

Thanks for the review. I didn't know about this shoe. Your comments about the Nimbus were interesting. I haven't tried the 24; however, I would have a hard time calling any of them past the 17 plush. Some would say mushy and certainly not max cushioned, especially once high stack models from other companies appeared on the market. Previous to the 24, IMO they were nothing more than expensive daily trainers with sightly more premium uppers (depending on model).

Hey how are these shoes for walking and standing all day? Would the aggressive rocker make it uncomfortable?

This is the first ASICS shoe in a while I’ve been interested in. I like shoes that are fun to run in. Would you reach for these or Nike Invincible Run 2s for a long easy run?

Great review, I have the Glideride 2 but I can't run in them. The extreme rocker (un flexible) hurts my metatarsal and the real pain came after my first run. I had very serious pain in my hips for 2 days.. I could hardly walk.. I think that the extreme rocker and hard midsole moved all the stress from my legs up to my hips. A pity because they felt really comfortable (but difficult at my snail 🐌 pace) I think from your review that it is much more flexible than before so could be a good option. I followed your advice and got the Nimbus 24. Excellent stable shoe for an old man like me. Thanks.

As far as overall ride and comfort, do you prefer the Glideride 3 or the Saucony Ride 15?

You're a toe striker so surprised this shoe would do anything for you. As a mid/heel striker, I get the 'downhill' feel of the shoe's profile.

How does it compare to the Glideride 1? I used them for marathons and halfs and the results were superb for me. I used lighter shoes for halfs and the results were much worse (+1.30 h)

How much arch are in these? ASICS shoes tend to have quite a lot of arch support in them

How does this compare to the novablast 2? I’m interested in long run shoes but don’t really see the difference with long run shoes (glideride)compared to max cushioned (moreV3, invincible)

How's this for walking and standing for long durations?

Nimbus 24 is NOT that squishy or soft. More v3 is WAY softer.
