Getting conflicting reports on the stack height folks. Will reach out to ASICS now and see what they say. Sorry for any confusion. BOTTOM LINE, the MIDSOLE RIDE is BEAUTIFUL NOW!!

I believe ASICS specs does not include insole and possibly outsole contribution to stack height. As such they are not quite following World Athletics measurement scheme.

GlideRide stays in my heart. I've had great moments running with GlideRide 1 along with my late best friend. GlideRide 2 was her last running shoe she bought before she passed away earlier this year. I will be running 100km trail run tribute for her. She was a non stop champion in her category

QOD: “recovery run” - you know what’s better for your legs and heart than 6 more miles at 5am to “flush out the legs?” … sleeping in and allowing for more adaptations. It’s like the commercials, “you know what’s cheaper than switching your car insurance to Geico?” Not having car insurance, actually. I think sleep and rest will become sexier across the culture. I think the need to feel control and run will still happen as it’s harder for most runner to NOT turn the door knob than to turn it- but at least that’s my projection for the majority

I love my Glideride 2. V1's were too narrow in the middle foot area. The foam was creasing on the inside and they didn't feel stable enough for my pronated legs. But I still loved that rocking motion when running in them. Then i bought v2's and it was like dream come true. Much wider in the middle, great comfort and stability. And they are built like a tank. The only two small drawbacks I have with them are a bit too narrow toebox and that decoupled groove which picks up quite big rocks. I started to collect them like souvenirs ;)

I'm so excited about this. I'm on my 5th pair of Glideride V1, getting ~500 miles in each pair (at 215 pounds). Skipped V2 as it looked a little overbuilt, V3 looks incredible. For a comparison, I think the Saucony Triumph 19 is in the ballpark, but that rocker shape and stiffer last really sets the GR apart. It gets better the farther I go. Can't wait to get this shoe- thanks for the review!

I have enjoyed both the GlideRide v1 and v2 and it looks like the v3 is a winner too! For similar shoes, maybe Saucony Endorphin Shift? Same rockered shape, plush upper, heavier weight, neutral but with added stability elements, and ability to hold up for long distance runs!
@RobertHarridge
@RobertHarridge 2 года назад
I’d closely compare this to the Nike React Infinity. They are still vastly different, but the purpose is very similar… innovation techniques to keep runners running. You could also use the Saucony Axon 2 because of the speedroll tech in that shoe, but it’s super firm, and I’m just comparing those to the Glideride 1’s that I use frequently.

Good review. Think your stats are correct. Love the GlideRide 2s, which are stable. Your tank analogy is a good one. I have 700kms on my 2s and still live in them. Amazing durability. It wouldn't be lossy goosy because it's a guided shoe, which is the point of this shoe. The plate and rocker are supposed to keep you as neutral as possible and guide you forward.

☆☆MAJOR, MAJOR piece about this shoe is that it has a Reinforced plate(plastic plate) sandwiched in between FF+blast and FlyteFoam. This plate gives you that rocker feel and propels you forward. This plate also, helps maintains the midsole shape.this helps the the runner flow efficiently through their gait. Glideride 3 is a high level shoe cushion, comfort and feel.

Hey Seth, I mean this with the utmost respect and appreciation, but wondering if you think you're still able to accurately predict durability of shoes when you don't seem to ever take any shoes any where near that 600mi/1000km mark. Of course I understand why you don't, if I had the chance to keep my feet in regular supply of fresh shoes I would too! but I think it's hard to predict those kind of miles if you're not actually doing them. I mention because a lot of people, myself included, had issues with the GR1 going dead after around 400kms, it was a dream shoe up til then and then just totally went hard and lifeless.
@spenceraronfeld4456
@spenceraronfeld4456 2 года назад
I think that’s a good point. I buy new shoes all the time- as soon as my feet start to hurt I know it’s time to go- and this usually happens around 200-250 for me.
@gbaker125

I have been saying forever that Seth including the durability and price in the overall score doesn't make any sense. I think it's useful if he gives a general opinion about them ("high durability", "great value", "overpriced", etc.) but for a variety of reasons they just don't belong in the final score.
@KoIhara
@KoIhara 2 года назад
At best, Seth’s durability prediction should be re-scaled by the viewers to their respective “typical breakdown” miles… but they don’t really mean much to me, to be honest. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If most of the viewers take their shoes past 400 mi, they probably wouldn’t buy that many shoes 😅
@antonioromulodelcarmen283
@antonioromulodelcarmen283 2 года назад
Agree on that durability property. It's quite relative. The Rincons past 200kms are still looking good and feeling good for walking (therefore durable??) yet I wouldn't be picking them up for running anymore since they feel flat.

First run in the Glideride 3. My first thought is it compares favorably to the Mach 4. The Mach 4 had the Profly+ providing the softness but the lower level EVA was hard. The Mach went dead after 150 mi. The Asics has the same sort of feeling but the novablast sort of bounce but a much more stable ride. I really liked it as a daily trainer so we will see if we can get the miles out of it.

How difficult would it be to transition to a 6mm drop in this shoe if I'm used to 8-10mm? Wondering if the rocker design would make it easier.

You would be fine. It’s a late metarocker with a plastic plate. The Doctors of Running RU-vid channel have a good video explaining the GlideRide 2 to check out. The glideride compared to a hoka will definitely make it feel like it rolls you forward more. With any new shoe you aren’t used to it’s always good to transition slowly and rotate shoes. Take care of the calves and Achilles and you won’t have any issues.

A bit more strain on the calf. The rocker is needed because the lack of flex inhibits the PF and big toe

I love Glideride v1. Superb shoe for the larger and heavier runner like me. I bought extra pairs like crazy because the shoe is so good. I experienced sharp shooting pains in my left foot with v2 after 100km or so. Went back to v1 and pains disappeared!!! Hope v3 is as good as v1. Note that v2 has a metal plate in it and is slightly smaller and heavier than v1.

Can anybody out there help me? My son wants to try out a barefoot shoe but I'm afraid he's going to step on a rock. Is there anything out there with a little bit of foam midsole?

Altra does some zero drop shoes, might be worth a look at.

Hi, just bought them today, the big rocker in them makes them not ideal for walking to be honest.

Please help! I have a marathon coming up (target 3h30) and can't decide which shoes to use. Glideride 3 or Metaspeed Sky?? The former will be more comfortable but slower... The latter would be far more dynamic but might be painful at the end... Advice anyone?
