11:56 video with maybe 4 minutes of worthy commentary. Comparisons to the Hoka Carbon X or Pegasus Turbo? ……. are you kidding me?! This channel is a joke
Thanks for the feedback Erik. Perhaps you should check out some of the direct comparison videos I have posted over the last few months. Happy running 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
@@EDDBUD don't mind Erik, he's just feeling a little superior that he eventually managed to achieve 1 subscriber for his shitty wine reviews. Thank god for family members eh Erik?
Gteat review Ed as always. Had covered everything I needes to know about the shoue and was suler Entertaining to watch as well. It is not all about the data (Erik). If Asics could only shave off 50gramma of this shoe somehow, it would be best shoe of the year for sure.
Nice review...I am getting back into running and am looking for a durable, long-run shoe for building back my running base...So far, everything I’ve heard about the Glideride is positive...I think training in a heavier shoe is fine, but I will most likely buy a racing shoe that is similar but lighter like the Carbon X you discuss...
Hey Michael. Great that your getting back into this crazy sport. The GlideRide is certainly durable. I have barely scratched the surface on it. Though it’s heavy and may put some runners off. The carbon x is a great shoe but a little rigid for training lots of miles. I would recommend to try the GlideRide first if possible. Many thanks for watching. I appreciate it! 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Hey Jumbiiee! Glad your enjoying the GlideRides. They will be staying within my rotation for a long time. Such a comfortable upper, I hope they work on relieving the weight in a future iteration. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Hi Edd, great to see more album reviews, although i'm sure i'm not the only one who'd like to see an ENTIRE video on your go-to running albums! go on you know it makes sense.
I bought it after watching your review. I give kudos to Asics that the shoe is the bee's knees for runners who want a roomy and comfortable toebox. The midsole is not too plush with adequate responsiveness. As compared with Carbon X, it is more forgiving in long run. The major drawback is its weight. A bit off the mark. Hope Asics can offer a lighter version in response to the comments of runners.
Nice review edd. Just want to ask i'm a midfoot forefoot runner, do you recommend this? Some runners say this shoe is much better than the GR2 so i'm planning to buy this for my long runs and speed workout
Can't believe Ive just found a video that I haven't hit the like button.....kinda tempted on buying this as my second jump into ASICS....least it wont be as crazy as the Novablast!
Ahhhh the GlideRide. A good time was had in that shoe. Miles disappear. Didn’t mind the tank like ASICS upper either. Built to last. Thanks for watching one from the archives 😊👍🏼🏃🏻♂️
Nice review! Some can really find a place for this in their rotation. I think you nailed the strengths of these. If you're not piling the miles every week it might be difficult to displace a shoe like the Turbo 2's to run in them.
Hey Ian. Yes your right, I think this shoe has enough structure and comfort for some serious long runs, lots of lower paced miles. The turbo is too tempting a shoe to run faster paces when you should be running slow! Thanks for watching as always Ian. 😊👍🏼🏃🏻♂️
Hey there! Yes a true to size shoe. Very present in foot but super comfortable. Plush even. Good room in the box. Thanks for watching it’s appreciated 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Loved the review Ed. Brill channel 👍 I’m deciding between Glideride and Hoka Elevon 2. Just using shoe once a week for long run of 16 miles. Have you tested Elevon 2? Can you recommend which one to buy? Thank you v much
I’m glad I didn’t get the metaride but glideride. I read somewhere that metaride is sort of a concept running shoes ASICS created to which it then evolves into the glideride, which has more cushions and is more suitable for everyday runners. I find that glideride helping me to endure a longer run without being fatigued easily.
Hey Austin. The GlideRide hits the spot. I guess sometimes they have to get things a bit wrong to get them right down the line. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Been wondering if I should keep this shoe or send it back. I didn't like the idea of a shoe designed to help or change your gait. But... when I heard that it felt, to Edd, like the Pegasus Turbo, that was all I needed to hear... since that's my favourite shoe
Hey there. I think the the overly rigid front area of the shoe will make walking a little weird. I think the infinity react probably make a better more cushioned choice for such a purpose. Hope this helps 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Great review Edd. Looks like another well built ASICS shoe. Loved my nimbus 17’s, 600 miles now a great mowing shoe. Next run you do put all the other shoes in a backpack and take them along so they quit cryin. 👶🏻
Good review! I'm currently looking to change my asics dynamis. I've been recommended to the glyderide but am skeptical as I think the weight and rigidness would annoy me. I'm similar to you In terms of height and weight - I tend to mix my runs, Long runs of anything up to 13km, to short 5k's. -- should I GO with the glyderide or look at something else like a Nimbus or Cumulas? ....would prefer to stay with asics if I can as that's all I've ever had in terms of running shoes. #Loyalty ! Thanks
The GlideRide was top for long runs but it’s pretty weighty. I think better options around right now for that. Maybe the infinity run? There’s a wealth of good shoes right now if you want cushion. Perhaps the novablast? 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
gr8 vid ed 🤟🏼 love the references to music & gear, gosh they are dirty but hey good use 😎 I ran in Asics for 6 years and now only have a pair of kyano 25 with 143 kms on them, I now have Hoka & Nike in my rotation, the only CRAP shoe out of the ten pairs I purchased this years is the zoom fly 3, what a disappointing shoe.
Hey TL. GlideRides are great up to now. These will last ages and have a good quality feel. First Asics for me in a long time and I’m impressed overall. Glad your enjoying the music references. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
IDK why i keep buying different shoes when i absolutely love my Hoka Cliftons and they just fit and feel perfect on my foot. Just ordered a pair of these, lets see.. I find most shoes too snug, i have a wide foot. Had to buy wide version of Cliftons, the normals ones are actually very tight.
111 Strange design if you ask me. Are there two parts or is it just one layer and cover above? Can't never tell that for Novablast and Glideride. Looks like lower stack but different appearance. I ordered one Glideride 2 on blind( no time to go shopping). Cheaper than Novablast 2. About 98 euros.
Potential up coming review. The season of wet, cold, and freezing is in the horizons. Nike Turbo 2 Shield claims to have warm, water resistant sticky traction, wind resistant, and water proof. Just want to see if the shoes of the yr turned shield is just as great.
I have been looking into the turbo shields and up until today had vetoed the idea of getting them. That is until it started absolutely chucking it down outside. Torrents of water everywhere! Thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
how these shoes perform against novablast? is there any particular and distinctive advantages of having these rather than novablast? thanks for the comment, edd.
How is the Glideride in the wet? Or on grass or off road? When I run some places are gravely and muddy. I am concerned that the sole does not have any gripe.
Hey there. It’s somewhat slippery on very muddy patches. But the outsole is very good on anything more reasonable. No worries on gravel. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Hi, Ed! I'm neutral midfoot striker, 110-111 lb. Is it suitable GlideRide for such runners? I intend to use them (or smth else) for long recovery runs (10-13 miles)/ Thank You in advance
ASICS for me represent a past age of runners and running shoes; lot's of pronation support, stiff shoes and honestly, awful looks. This is the first ASICS that I've ever been interested in trying. The shoe looks nice, the ride seems good, and it feels sort of innovative! I'd pick this up for lots of easy KMs. The shoe seems to last well.
Hey there. I very much agree with you. Wasn’t really interested to try anything before this. But it really is quite impressive, good look, soft enough for long miles and well built. Thanks for commenting and watching. I appreciate it. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
I love the pegasus turbo 2 for tempo paces, was looking for a long rung shoe for my new easy pace, that is around 4:35-4:40 min/k, (that I believe should be around 7:30 min/mile).....and your comparison to the turbo and the paces you mentioned makes me wonder if the Glideride could be the ideal shoe for this purpose for me?
@@EDDBUD just did my first 10k run in them and loved them. I think I may found my new Long Run shoe. What about the cuschioning after the half marathon distance? Hope it still feels the same and does not tire the legs after a while. Today they felt amazing, but for only 10k...
I'm between these and the 1080v10, local stores dont stock so can't try them out, got to order tomorrow, cant decide really, will be for daily training at 70km per week type distance. Any ideas?
The 1080 appears to be a more standard type shoe, the GlideRide does take a little getting used too. I haven’t tried the 1080 but it might be the better option if it’s between these two. Hope this helps Michael. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Hey Grant. That’s interesting. I found them good at pace but there are better options for me over short distances. Certainly a robust shoe! Thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
I'll try on the glideride out this evening on my local shoe store's group run. Now, the question remains, which shoe should I wear on SJD's group run on Saturday? Peg Turbo 2 or the Carbon X? SJD does love green..
Keep an open mind on the GlideRide Kev! 😉 Got to be green, just like the famous hat. Say hi to him for me. He met a Kev from Yeovil recently at the Austria Ineos challenge. Lots of Kev’s and they are all runners. 😊 Thanks for watching as always buddy. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Hi Are you going to use this for your marathons ? Or are you going to use something else, I’ve got the Yorkshire marathon at the end of the year and can’t decide what to get. Any advice welcome. Cheers
Hey David. This is a great shoe for training it for me it’s a little to heavy for racing even over greater distances. I have achieved my best times in the Vaporfly 4% flyknit in the middle of last year. Have you considered the carbon x or any of the Hoka offerings?
Thanks for your reply Edd, I just want a good comfortable shoe, I’m over 60 now so fast times aren’t top of my list now, having said that a time under 4 hours would be great. This will be my first and probably last marathon 😀
Hi Edd, I'm a beginner and looking for a durable shoe and I am confused between lot of options. If i had to pick one between Glideride, Nimbus21/22, Pegasus 36 shield, Ultraboost 19 which one would you suggest to start of with. I am looking for a pair of durable shoe which can be used for running and walking. Thanks in advance
Go for the Pegasus 36 ( normal version ) A best of both worlds. Great for running and comfortable for walking. An ideal combination. Hope this helps and thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Hey Josh. I remember when the album first came out, i think i left my copy in a club sometime when i was DJing, never to get it back again. Was really happy to pick up a new copy recently. Thanks for watching :)
I use kayano 25 and gts 2000 7 for my long runs : 5 HM and 1 marathon This year. bought the zf3 for my next marathon. Im 6 1 and 89 kgs should i get the carbon x or other shoes? Im attempting to run 3hs 30 minutes. Rgds from El Salvador
Hello Mauricio. I wouldn’t recommend the glideride for racing. It’s more a shoe that can be enjoyed for extended mileage training. Perhaps for those that want to work on increasing distance but with good comfort and some help with propulsion. For racing a similar feeling will be achieved with less weight with the carbon x. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
It’s a shame these have gone under the radar. A great shoe! Don’t worry too much about the weight. It’s not really noticeable. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Open a "one asics"account online, asics will let you trial the shoe for 90 days even out on runs, if youre not happy with it just return it and asics will give you a full refund. I've asked santa wife for a pair for Xmas 🎅🎅
Greetings Farhan! I think it can work as a daily shoe, its too heavy for me for short races but thats me only. Everyone is different, thats what makes the worse a wonderful place. Thanks for watching and stay safe 👍😊🏃🏻♂️
As usual very useful content. I used to wear Asics for my long runs. they are very durable, but to heavy. switched now to Saucony Iso triumph 4. There will be new release of the Triumph 17. Might be interesting for a review. Happy to hear that you have discovered also now the MAF method 😀 it really works. But you need to be very patient to see the results. But from a long term view it's worth to follow it. Look at Floris Gierman Channel.
Hey guitar man! The best types of men to be are either guitar men, or running men. 👍🏼 Maybe both! The heart rate training thing is something I think I will spend time with in 2020. It really interests me. The Triumph 17 is very interesting. A boost competitor, or at least a similar type of midsole feel. Very excited to try that. As always thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
@@EDDBUD if my feet feel comfy on a long run in £40 shoes, then that is good value. Is that subjective enough? I've just splashed out on my most expensive pair of shoes ever, but were 50% off....just done an unboxing on my channel today :-)
If the shoe works for you and your happy with it then price is of no matter. One shoe can be great for one runner but not fit another. Will check out your video later on. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
