Today i have an initial review of the ASICS Metaracer running shoe. This is the Tokyo colour-way and is an exceptionably light carbon plate running shoe. Breathable and somewhat rigid this lightweight offering from ASICS is the latest alternative to the Nike Vaporfly Next%. Does it live up to the hype or does it fall at the first hurdle?

It's orange! I ordered some run fast 2s earlier this week. Arriving tomorrow or Friday. Fully on your recommendation - no pressure!

Don't think that you will be disappointed. I got some Run Fast 2.0 a couple of weeks ago and have been very impressed with my runs in them so far. First run in them it just seemed like my feet wanted to fly. Now done a couple of speed/tempo sessions in them and also ran a 13.1 at a very easy pace in them. Would definitely wear them up to Half distance in a race. Awaiting a delivery on the Reebok Floatride Panthea (either later today or Friday) and looking forwards to testing them out, hoping that it will be a shoe that I will feel more comfortable in up to Full Marathon distance. If the Panthea is anything like I am expecting it to be then it's an absolute steal at the moment, at just £69 Hope you find the Run Fast 2.0 as good as I have 👍

It's definitely orange 🍊 I just ordered the blue pair of Metaracer. I didn't have the orange option. But I love the blue. Anyways my eyes have been focused on this shoe for awhile now and I finally bought them today. 🤪 I sorta favor Asics shoes. Great review buddy!

just by watching napoleon dynamite, I became a Master of REX KWON DO, so I am sure, if I get attacked by an old lady, I will be able to defend myself, by running away ....nice shoe review btw, since saucony endorphine is sold out here everywhere in GER, it cuold be an alternative

As an owner of both shoes, great option for speed workouts, rebels are great to but I think during a speedworkout the asics metaracers is a godsend, the rebel is a versatile beast tho, when I tried on the saucony endorphin pro, it was a somewhat similar feeling. Overall these are great for any racing option, on pavement, as off pavement it feels grippy but not great.

Hi Edd, the metaracer for me was everything that I wanted! I was hoping it would be like my all time favourites the Asics Piranha SP5, and it is with a little more cushion and a little more snap. I can’t wait to race in this bad boy and see what damage I can do....thanks as always got the top notch content, stay safe 👍🏻🏃🏼‍♂️🙌🏻

It's definitely salmon! "It's pretty much my favorite animal..." Interesting that you find the Endorphin Pro versatile. I thought I was going 8 min./miles on an easier effort and ended up going 7:20 lol.

Good Napoleon quote there! Delicious bass. That Saucony is a shoe that just works all over. I can see it selling really well. So comfortable and good for almost any runner. That speed roll forefoot isn’t quite as pronounced as the competitors. Thanks for watching Kev 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

Video ideas: what’s your stance on compression lower leg sleeves for running or recovery. Or maybe a video on your recovery strategies in general. And do you wear special raingear on days like today?

Hey There! I do tend to wear a rainproof jacket on the very wet days, though its not too breathable. Its the Nike Flash Jacket. Haven't used lower leg sleeves though i can see their benefit i think on the higher mileage runs. 👍😊🏃‍♂️

The metaracer in Australia is 250 Australian dollars on the ASICS website which is significantly cheaper

Edd - This (Orange) Metaracer shoe: will be liked by Asics runners who like a firm underfoot feel, and remain brand loyal. However like Mrs Edd's Lemon cake - some things are very hard to beat and defy comparison! Hoka Carbon X, New Balance RC & TC shoes, Saucony Endorphin Pro, Existing Nike's offering - and when Brooks eventually arrive to an already rocking Carbon shoe off' with their Elite2 runners will have never had so much choice underfoot.

It’s certainly minimal Ruth. Not a massive toebox. More there is some depth and height to it. That Adizero pro shoe is said to have been modified to be a little more cushioned as testers said it was too rigid. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

Unashamedly orange, like my 4%s and my Hitogami 4s😉. I know weight isn't everything, and they are by no means heavy, but I was expecting them to be lighter. Wonder if the amount of rubber on the outsole is the reason? As the plate is bottom loaded though, the outsole may be a necessity to protect it.

I think it’s one of those things that people all see differently. The box suggests sunset red but it’s certainly towards orange. 😊👍🏼🏃🏻‍♂️

This shoe is definitely sneakerhead (specifically runner) pornography. Wow! I’m interested in a 3-way versus... adios5, Takumi Sen 6, MetaRacer. adidas and ASICS have a similar aesthetic and engineering philosophy. ‘Must be Kobe JP. I know only one has a carbon plate, but they all are lightweight race flats with some cushioning, a torsion/propulsion mechanism and a similar drop. I say it’s salmon (orange). Premier League is back! ✌🏽🖤🏃🏽‍♂️

Poor Asics, upping their game in the wrong way and at the wrong time. Postponed “Tokyo” is going to turn people off. And that color...nobody’s picking that 🍊 over the Endorphine. It’s like a wannabe 4%. Looks like a jack o’lantern. Total aesthetics fail. As for performance, people have to pass up the Hoka, Endorphin, and all the Nike options; just not going to happen too often.

That color and the way it looks is what drew me to it(low slung, stylish which many people agree is good looking). I think everyone's got different tastes. I think the Endorphin looks like women platform heels in running shoe version just like the Alphaflys and Next % shoes of the world that all runners go gaga for. Platformed running shoes looks ridiculous. But then again this Asics' colorway looks ridiculous to some people as well but goes right to my point, looks are all relative.

I highly doubt the Tokyo name on it is a minus for anyone. If anything it's a plus. It's not like there is any date on it. And for me personally it looks really good. Not as ridiculous looking as the Nike equivalent
