The Asics Metaspeed Edge Paris is the newest version of the carbon racing shoe that now sits
much closer in design to its speedy stablemate the Metaspeed Sky Paris.
For the Edge Paris, Asics has changed the drop, tweaked the geometry and brought in the new FF Blast Turbo Plus foam also featured on the Sky Paris to make it a shoe fit for going fast over short and longer distances.
Tester Mike has spent some shorter, sharper time in the Edge Paris, taking it to the track (along with the Sky Paris) and giving it a spin at Parkrun, to see what's changed from the Edge+ and get a sense of whether Asics' racer for cadence runners is one to get excited about.

Right on time! I managed to get my hands on a pair earlier this week, and am absolutely blown away by them!

I am looking forward to the actual review of the Edge Paris, as all I got from this was that you haven’t run much in them and a lot of talk about the Sky versions and the Edge +. I hope that Nick also got a pair, as my opinion on shoes is completely equal to his.

I appreciate your review. I've searched everywhere for stock of the edge Paris for a few weeks now. You can only seem to get them if your willing to pay way over the RRP :(

I think you should be calling out ASICS on this one as the shoe is sold out and their Customer Service point blank refuse to say if it will be stocked again or when if it will be. They have made great shoes for the metaspeeds to be sold out - reviewers have caused this and should be saying to brands that they wont review unless they can satisfy their customers

Why should reviewers care about satisfied ACICS customers? ASICS is making money of two very similar shoes, but with cost of production of one because they are so similar. One being in less supply is brilliant marketing for keeping prices up all year long.

Excellent review... Between the Sky and Edge, which closely resembles the ride/feel of the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3?
@gtromble

Interesting Q. Based on the plate configuration and rocker I'd expect the Edge to be more like the E. Pro 3 but the real world run experience may be quite different. Both ASICS shoes have a narrower heel and lower drop than the Pro 3, and those factors could easily negate the plate and foam factors, particularly for heel strikers. No single reviewer will have a definitive useful answer to the question, unless they happen to run just like you.

I got the edge paris on release day and it is very similar to the VF3. I prefer the Edge plus to both.

I have tried 3 super shoes. the sky paris, endorphin pro 3 and the edge paris. I prefer them in that order. going back to the cadence/ stride aspect: My training runs my stride is about 1.09 meters and cadence about 168 spm. For my 10 mile race recently my stride went up to about 1.4 meters and cadence up to 187 average. Hope that may help some people determine.

The Sky Paris puts more strain on your Achilles than the Edge Paris imo. I kept the Edge and have been loving it.

ASICS needs to increase supply a bit or launch a second color way. If Nike can make more Alphafly 3s before ASICS does this I will buy those instead.

I’m also keen to try these as I would classify myself as a ‘cadence’ runner but only because I don’t have a huge stride. I quicken my steps as I get faster rather than extend my stride. Seems odd most reviewers who are the same seem to prefer the Sky Paris. I saw Nick’s review of the previous Edge and he preferred the Sky also. Shame Asics have removed them from their website!
@Fozzee.1970
@Fozzee.1970 8 дней назад
It's not about cadence or stride it's more about the whole running gait. I prefer the Edge Paris even though my stride increases equally to my cadence. Edge has more roll through onto the forefoot. Sky Paris keeps me on the rear of my foot which works my Achilles more.

Distinction between cadence-runners and stride-runners doesn't make sense to me. Slow cadence is just strictly bad, and wider-stride is bad running style anyway.
@Fozzee.1970
@Fozzee.1970 8 дней назад
Thats not the definition of cadence Vs stride runner. A cadence runner increases they cadence more than their stride when they run faster. A stride runner increases both their cadence and stride by similar percentages. It's doesn't mean either of them are low cadence runners.
