Five Guys FTW!! I run in spikes all winter I'll never go back. I have Nordas now but I have also used screw-in Ice Spikes in different shoes.

Yeah that's great call. It's this weather I find most difficult when it's clear then just pure ice, minimal snow. Atleast if it's snowy the spikes wouldn't feel so abrupt. How have the Nordas been? I haven't ventured into that brand yet

@@yani.leigh. For sure, the downside with spikes is running on bare pavement is really annoying. You kind of pick your poison on a day like you had.

@@yani.leigh. Forgot to add the Nordas are amazing trail shoes. They are all I run in aside from a couple pairs of Asics for road stuff. Definitely recommend checking them out and supporting a Canadian brand! Size up!

I suppose you're used to it but I would be so frustrated if everywhere I went there was ice

Hey man, I am going for a sub 3 hour marathon this year (prob in the fall). I want to do a 20 week training plan and I am adding miles now so that when I start the plan I am doing 40 or so miles a week (currently doing 25-30). You were talking about building a big base and on your opinion should I build that for the first 8 weeks then go into the higher mileage and harder runs over the next 10 weeks then do a 2 week taper? I am 32 and have only run one marathon in 2022 and I did that in 3:30. I did a half marathon in 1:28;38. Any tips would be awesome man

honestly without knowing anything about your running or history with injuries. What I can say is just listen to your body, if you are wanting to add mileage in, increase your easy efforts and dont try to push things to quickly. Ideally you would add some miles in, then hold for an additional week or two, giving your body a little time to adapt to the increased workload. Key is not digging yourself into a hole that will just lead to burnout or injury. Increased volume easy, then slowly integrating more speed sessions in over time as your body adapts would be ideal. Again just instinctual training, when you up the volume and are tired, keep it easy, but when you start feeling like you're able to push the pace, go for it! After that its just about consistency! I have a coach now, as I would typically over analyze myself, what I'm doing and just get lost. Running becomes a struggle when that happens, so just remember to keep having fun. That's always the most important thing!

@@yani.leigh. That is a great point. I have been running for 15 months and most miles in one week have been 52. I am 32 and thought about getting a coach but did not want to spend the money on that and would rather spend it on my nutrition and recovery tools. Been looking at YT for my info since there is soo much on here about plans and runs that give you a good indication on where you are. Any thoughts on this would be super appreciated. an d thanks for your content.

@@sldorse42 nutrition and recovery tools are absolutely essential . I there are free training plans through Hal Higdons website, also Higher Running offers inexpensive but very informative and we'll put together plans too. Plus their RU-vid channel @Vo2maxProductions is also A+ for information. Lots of ways to get around it without paying all out for a coach!

@@yani.leigh. Agreed and I have been looking at those channels and sites for a few months now. So hopefully they can get me over the hump lol. And of course your videos!!
