I have tried a lot of trainers since 2018 (Pegasus, Cloudflow, Hyperion Tempo, Zoom Fly 2 and 3, Zante, Tempo Next%, Rebel V2, Invincible Run), but all of them had a problem... Only Asics knows how to make a perfect trainer imo (Nike fanboy here saying this). I'm currently in my 3rd pair of Novablast and can't wait for Novablast 3 with the updated foam (FF Blast+). It's light, responsive, don't hurt my feet and I'm brand new in the next day. The most versatile shoes ever.
I would never use On as running shoes. They work great as gym shoes. They work even better as casual shoes (simply because On can make an aesthetically pleasing shoe, unlike Asics.)
Why release this comparison at this time when regular peeps cannot purchase the Novablast 3 until later this year? If one needs a daily trainer now, they would not be choosing between these two shoes.
Great video! That daily trainer category seems to be getting less specific now, especially when you look at these 2 shoes. if we're comparing shoes that we run on most days/everyday to qualify as "dailys"... I'd throw in the Saucony Speed 3's and NB Rebel v3s into the mix as well.
Great video, I have the Novablast 2. I have wide feet but they are wide (toe box) and long.. (Nimbus 24 shorter and narrower). How is the fit between the Novablast 2 and 3? Same last used?
I wanted to hear Thomas’ choice. I’ve enjoyed the Novablast 2 and the Monster- Monster is fun to run in-but seems to be wearing out much faster than the ASICS. I cannot wait to get the Novablast 3 in September. Just got the Mach 5 and it’s great too-

No one should make a choice on which shoe to purchase based on a $30 difference when you will be using that shoe for many months and your health and running enjoyment is affected for so many hours of running over the course of a year or more.
I ran in the On CloudMonster and I wasn’t a big fan. I have the first version of the Novablast and I really enjoy running my easy days & longer runs. Just picked up the ASICS Gel-nimbus 24, excited to try the FF Blast+
OMG! David vs the Goliath. Nb3’s Hands down. ON needs to make some more changes to that Cloudtech cushion to win the hearts and minds in the running world.
Brian is right. My Novablast 3 is 10.5 US (weights in at 262gr in case you wonder about the weight) & I feel the upper fits perfectly snug, but the length is just a tiny bit long. I have more than a thumb width at the longest toe, that makes me wonder I could go down half a size. Unfortunately, there isnt a US 10 for me to try & compare. However, Im happy with the fit. No worries about my toe hitting the toebox during long runs. I'd say the Novablast 3 fits TTS.
@@mtmatt6111 I have sensitive feet, so I love soft & well-cushioned shoes. Im not new to FF Blast+ as I have the Asics Nimbus 24. The Novablast 3 is sitting up top among my current non-plated rotation such as Nike Streakfly, Invincible, Brooks Aurora BL, Hoka Rincon 3, Clifton 8, Asics Nimbus 24, Saucony Triumph 18 & 19, Craft CTM Ultra 2, NB Rebel v2, More v3. Easy/Recovery: Streakfly (softest & lightest) Tempo: Streakfly Invervals: Streakfly 2.5 - 3hrs Long Run: More V3, Invincible. The Novablast 3 can do all the above very well, just that I would not (& I have not) do the intervals in it. Im at the deload week now, so I havent taken the Novablast 3 to 2.5 - 3hrs Long Run yet, but I'm quite sure it will do well (comfy upper, high stack of soft & bouncy cushion). The Novablast 3 is easily The best non-plated shoe of 2022, beating my favorite Streakfly in the max Long Run category since I'd not do Long runs in the Streakfly. P.s. The Streakfly to me is a non-plated shoe because no plate to help me toe-off. Just me & the soft & flexible zoomX.
Great review but I think you’re looking at two different of runners. On Cloudmonster is for the fitness runner who wears lululemon and headbands and the Novablast 3 is the hardcore runners that goes topless with a pair of splittys and Goodrs. Overall both great shoes for the right runner to get those miles in 🤜🏾🤛🏻
Nova3 is probably lighter than glideride 3, I am not sure, but for long "not so fast runs" which one would you pick, What about the space in the forefoot for a wider feet, I have the Nova2 and it is OK. Thanks.
If I'm loving the Ride 15 for it's balance of firmness and tiny bit of squish, would the NB3 be too soft/squishy? Looks reeeeal good but I'm starting to wonder if soft/squishy shoes aren't my thing after running in the Ride...
ON has not even come close to making anything as good as what Asics has with the Novablast. ON is mostly just hype, image and marketing. Asics actually has to make good shoes.
Don't they all have to make good shoes? How's ON hyped? all I read on the comment box is Asics is amazing. If anything it's the underdog compared to Asics. ON makes quality products, I have a pair of the ON Cloud monsters and I also got some of the clothing. And you can feel the quality of these products. They aren't cutting corners when it comes to quality. Think of outdoor gear brands. ON is comparable to Arcteryx, Asics Columbia. The masses will gravitate towards Columbia as it's more affordable, yet reliable.

It's frequently called the "next Lululemon" in business media and it's hyped as a fashionable trendy brand in the mainstream. It's not hyped among runners as evidenced by the general reviews ON shoes often get. Asics is hyped among runners, but certainly not among the mainstream whatsoever. If anything Asics is not trendy at all. The people who buy Asics shoes buy them because of their quality as running shoes. Not because it's trendy to wear them. That's what I meant by Asics has to actually make good shoes. Asics doesn't have the luxury of coasting on its brand alone. Because people aren't buying them because they are "cool". Whereas a lot of people who buy and wear ON do so because it's hyped as "cool" in the mainstream. And most people who wear them are not runners. Not that that's a bad thing... But let's bare in mind that ON is a running brand. That's what they call themselves and present themselves as. That's why it gets shit from many people for not being especially good running shoes compared to their competition, but instead more worn by people as a trendy brand for casual wear. Also, I never said anything about the quality of ON shoes. As in build quality. I was referring to them not being especially good running shoes. And I stand by what I said....ON has never made anything as good as what Asics has in terms of running shoes. And I'm backed up by plenty of shoe tubers who don't rate ON very much as running shoes. Of course they will be a good match for some people. Any shoe can work for someone. However, you are welcome to tell me which ON shoes have been objectively highly rated by runners and can compare to the best of what Asics, Addidas, Nike etc al make...... because I have never seen ON on anyone's list of best running shoes....ON may get there in the future. But they sure as hell are not there now. And at present they are mostly a trendy brand popular as casual wear and not popular among runners.
