Been using Novablast 3 TR version for about a week now (after retiring my Glideride 2 after 900 km)... i try to run 5 miles daily @ 4:30 per km.. What i think is- 1) It does what it's supposed to do- PROTECT YOUR LEGS; 2) If you are expecting energy return (compared to the Vapourfly 2 which i have in my arsenal) i would say 50% of that; 3) You can pick up speed but it just never lets you forget that it doesn't belong to that ball-park of speed shoes; 4) The comfort, the upper, the trampolines, heck even the laces are probably the best i've ever worn..want to go to bed in them on a cold night; 5) The outsole rubber has huge lugs (Andy FOD runner had some issues with the outsole durability ), so no durability issues here...For me personally, i'm just too accustomed to the Gliderides' rocker now that i miss them.. honestly want to switch to Glideride 3s..
900k for your glideride I bought evoride for my shorter runs and I quite like it. Feel the foam in the front a bit too thin for 30k+. I also have a pair of metaride which I am now using as a recovery shoe or LSD occasionally
First time marathoner here (registered my first full marathon by mistake) and my shoe of choice is the Cloudmonster. I have the Cloud 5 as my daily lifestyle sneaker but I have always been a minimalist barefoot shoe guy (Merrell Trail Glove 3, 4, 5, and Vivobarefoot stuff) and the Cloudmonster really made my runs felt effortless. I have a plantar pain issue when running but Cloudmonster didnt give me any pain. The only issue is I think ON needs to have a wider toe box. Their Cloud 5 and Cloudmonster have medium width toe box and I was hoping it'd be good for wider splay guy like me.
Hey Janus, have you done your first marathon yet?? How did you get on and how did you like the Cloudmonster??? I'm seriously considering it for my first ever 50k ultra!
I have the Cloud Monster and it is a smooth and stable and well-cushioned ride. I think that the ASICS Cumulus 24 TR will be my next daily trainer. I don’t like shoes that are too soft and mushy. The Cloud Monster does not feel soft or mushy.
I have the novablast 2 LE and the novablast 3. Even though the 2 was very comfortable from the start, and I love the snug upper, it took some time for me to really love the shoe. It felt clunky, is loud, and fights me when I want to go faster. The 3 is firmer, and I don't feel the 'trampoline' like in the 2. It feels like a slightly more boring shoe, but in a good way. They are both the same length, but the 3 is wider, so I probably could go a half size down in that one (I prefer the snug fit of the 2). The length is absolutely ridiculous, because my size 40.5 is just as long as my son's size 45! football shoe. Totally agree with Kieran that they're best for easy runs, the 3 just keeps rolling along without too much effort. Such a comfortable ride!
Love my OCMs, they don’t present too much of any one thing when running, you don’t notice anything, except that you’re having a good run. Which is a win in my book.
I have two pairs of the cloud monsters and it does a great job for a long distance shoe for short distances and sprints I prefer the cloud stratus It's just a fabulous shoe
😄Hey perhaps your veredict would be different if you were 10, 20, 30lbs pounds more, 10, 20, 30kilos? Novablast 3 and then Nimbus 24 are the two best of my 8 running pairs.
