Thanks for posting! It seems like every time I fall in love with a trail shoe, the manufacturer changes it to something unrecognizable! It's really frustrating. I've been bouncing around between New Balance, Hoka, and Saucony (Xodus Ultra 2) for a while, but none of them ever felt like it was "the one." I thought I'd give the Asics Trabuco Max 2 a try today and really enjoyed it. I did a 5-hour run right out of the box and loved the cushion and springiness. However, even though they are super cushioned, I never felt like they were bottoming out. Looking forward to going with the Asics for a while!

Wore a pair out of the box for my Maah Daah Hey Trail 13.1 with 1374 feet of gain. They performed perfect, light and fast, great traction, cushioning and comfort. I won my age group. A big thumbs up!

Ive had my Asics Max Trabuco 2s for about a month. Absolutely love them. The FF+ foam is great. The grip is good and while not waterproof they are fairly resistant to getting easily wet.

I think the stack height also helps with that. Going through the puddles I've noticed not much water comes through, if at all!

Nice review bro! 😅 Watching out for more from you. I love my Trabuco Max 2 as well, especially when I was breaking them in. I tried using them as my work shoes to soften them up prior to a long walk/run. I noticed I even prefer them better than my Hoka Bondi 7 which I shifted back to a work shoe after running them out. There's something special with the compound/rubber they used in the outsole, it's quite grippy! 😅😅😅 Probably after it's life in running, I'll shift them to my work shoes too 😅😅😅

Thank you! Yeah the grip really surprised me, after I filmed this, i used these shoes in an ultramarathon where it rained all day, mud everywhere, and the grip was a lot better than any other trail shoe I have tried in similar conditions!

If you ever try that "NB More TR V3" which you mentioned, I think people are quite interested in comparing these two models at the moment. Mainly because it's a recent update, and it has that similar wide monster-truck sort of approach. Neither shoe outsole seems designed to squeeze into tiny narrow crevices, certainly.
@seekingultra4333
@seekingultra4333 Год назад
It would be an interesting comparison! I am also interested to see what the Nike Zegama 2s turn out like.

The midsole is amazing, however I wish they were with 3-5mm less midsole. While not unstable, I can feel my ankles/soleus working on off-chamber trails. I've also had some pain on the top of my foot after a long run, so need to tinker with the laces to figure that one out.

Thanks Dave! Glad these seem to work for you. I also have a wide forefoot, and those toe overlays worry me a bit, as well. Pleased to hear you had no problem going slightly longer on the size. Has that toe area caused any problems, now that you've done more distance in them ?
@seekingultra4333
@seekingultra4333 Год назад
I did an ultramarathon in them after this video was filmed, and I didn't seem to get any blisters specifically caused by the overlays. I never normally avoid blisters anyway. But I think it was OK, I definitely wouldn't size down though, as that might have caused me more issues.

Here's a clue for Asics. People who are said to have wide feet actually have wide forefeet, their heels are not significantly wider than anyone else's heel.
@seekingultra4333
@seekingultra4333 6 месяцев назад
It's true, it's just a wide toebox that I need, rest of the shoe is better off being a standard fit. It's something Topo do really well with their shoes.

I am 307 lbs and I brought this shoe on my recent 15 mile hilly trail run and had zero leg or foot pain. I normally have foot pain after about 10 miles. It was a little short, so I returned and ordered 1/2 size bigger. Hoping that make the perfect heavy runner shoe. I typically use Hoka Speedgoat 5 Wide.
@seekingultra4333
@seekingultra4333 Год назад
I am glad they are working for you! I definitely feel they are more forgiving on my legs than other trail shoes I have tried! It seems like most trail shoes skip on the cushioning.

Hey @markw76. so this Asics TM2 is a 1/2 size bigger than your Hoka Speedgoat? In Asics I'm a US13 so 13.5 is not possible
@markw76
@markw76 7 месяцев назад
@@runzizationyes I wear 12 Wide US speedgoats and 12.5 tm2. It would be nice is tm2 came in wide.

Hi, this rigid toe bumper bothers me too. I have wide feet and am a forefoot striker. On long runs the outside of my big toe can rub against the side of the toe bumper and cause some discomfort. This is the same problem I get with the Asics Trabuco shoes. Somehow Asics believes that trail shoes need a stiff toe bumper. But the rest of the shoe is great so... I´ll just put up with it. Going up 1/2 size helps and I did the same.

If you want a similar road shoe get Novablast3, i love alternating between the road and trail with this combo.

Hello, thank you for posting this video on Trabuco Max 2. I have flat feet and looking for the perfect shoe to wear for Camino de Santiago. Would you recommend this shoe for that purpose? I intend to walk for 18 to 20 kms a day for 35-40 days. Thank you.
@seekingultra4333
@seekingultra4333 Год назад
I am not sure if they are suitable for flat feet or not, but I am sure if you get them and they are uncomfortable, you could try some insoles to aid with flat feet? The midsole should provide decent protection for your feet over the rocky sections of that route. I hope to run it one day! Good luck!

Is this only for Trails or can is also be used for the road? I'm looking for a shoe with good grip for winter when there are wet, ice and snowy conditions and not concerned with them being waterproof.
@seekingultra4333
@seekingultra4333 9 месяцев назад
Hello! You could probably get away with it in the road too, although they may feel a bit heavy compared to some other road shoes. The Asics Novablast 3 TRs would be a good winter shoe for wet roads, but not as good on trails.

Do these come up long like the novablast? I sent my size 10 back because I thought they were too big. I've got some triumph 20 coming along and I have to go half a size up. I found the nimbus 25 tighter in the toe box. It's difficult when you have wide feet to find the right size
@seekingultra4333
@seekingultra4333 Год назад
Hey, its a bit hard for me to say as my Trabuco's are a size 11 and the Novablast 3's are a size 10.5, but I would say the Novablasts feel slightly longer in the toebox. The Trabuco Toebox is a bit more rounded.
