We came to both screenings of Devil Thumbs a Ride in Bologna, absolute treat. We loved your intro, another highlight of the festival!

Hello Eddie and Anne, greetings from Portugal. I'm leaving this comment to let you know that your show and your words reach distant places - and are warmly welcomed. Can't say exactly how many film-noir fans we have lurking around, but there are some - a happy few. Looking forward to watching October's show.

@@alexrinse Well well, what do you know! A fellow country(wo)man hanging out at NoirCity. :-) If you ever feel like debating or just letting other people know how much you enjoyed this or that movie you've just watched, you have a cosy forum/chat-place in portuguese (and a FB portal as well). Just google "dvd mania forum". There is, of course, a noir dedicated Topic.

I heard that Dick Powell adapted a truncated version of The Long Goodbye on tv, but it’s been lost. FNF sleuths, get on this-haha! In all fairness, I love Altman’s The Long Goodbye, because Gould does things in that movie that, though NOT necessarily based on what Chandler wrote, has a feel that Chandler could have written. I hate how maligned it is by some aficionados, though I do understand why.

Hello Eddie. Is Appointment With Danger film noir and will you show it? How about 52 Pick Up (1987) and The Score (1991) as film noir, and will you show them on Noir Alley?

Hi Eddie, I found the definition of film noir kind of broad. For example, would you consider Nightmare Alley and Party Girl both film noir? Or how about this Johnny Apollo and Johnny Eager ?

Beauty! I just got a gift subscription to NetFlix (Australia) and was less than impressed. 'The Highwaymen' was entertaining, but not noir in my definition in spite of Fedoras (good road buddy film though and better than such hyped noirish excursions as 'Hell or High Water'). Anything older than the 1980's seems rare to non-existant. 'Babylon Berlin' is available, though, so I'll give it a go and start saving for Criterion. [NB - working my way through these Eddie & Anne's - addicted and have joined your foundation.]

Zimmerman exceeded Wilder, hmm!

It's OK, Murdersville. Wilder contributed more to film noir and to tragicomedy than Zimmerman ever did.
