Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! Before we get to our callers, we introduce Nick to some viral internet dating theories and read a written Ask Nick. Then we get to our callers…
Our first caller’s boyfriend was caught watching videos of his ex-girlfriend. She still loves him, but this made her feel icky about herself. Our Second caller was talking to an ex-marine, until he wanted her to sign an NDA before their next date. After doing her own digging and sneaking into his apartment… Did she sign it? Our final caller is wondering if she cheated or if it was self-sabotage that ended her. After finding who she thought was her perfect match, he wasn't ready to be a father, and she turned to her ex right after breaking up.
“Technically you didn’t cheat, but technically who cares”

Am I the only one baffled at how calm she is that he was watching videos of his ex??!! That’s grounds for breaking up. Like HUH. To add only fans to that is mind blowing. She seems very naiveeeeee. My goodness.

As someone who works as a PT, I would highly recommend to NOT flirt in clinic or wear something “sexy” or ask invasive questions and throw hints. This is bad advice lol you’re going to make your therapist SO uncomfortable and if his colleagues hear, it could be really bad for him. A lot of corporate businesses have STRICT policies. People have gotten fired for things such as this (flirting and exchanging numbers with patients) at the company I work for. We may legally be okay to date past patients but a lot of our jobs put policies in place to prevent this that endangers our jobs. Most of us do not see our patients as potential people to date, it’s usually a hard boundary we all set as healthcare professionals. We’ve had to take a lot of ethics courses in grad school that drills this in our heads. He most likely was just a really nice guy who sparks conversation with his patient to make the day less boring and to build a good therapeutic relationship. Also we do not normally make over 100k (lucky if we make just that) or millions.. I wish😂

Fellow PT and I 3rd this opinion! The least bad option is to add on social media after done being a patient.

Yeah, this was HORRIBLE advice, and could very seriously put that man’s job in jeopardy, for just being a nice & professional physical therapist, who happened to be good looking. Not okay, and they all should have known that. You don’t do that in ANY medical professional where a patient is in a one-on-one situation, ESPECIALLY if they’re seeing patients in private rooms, or rooms that are separated by curtains/where privacy is needed and/or a lot of physical manipulation of body parts, especially near intimate areas is necessary. Like, I do not understand how they didn’t immediately comprehend, as they were starting to say all that - “WAIT, JUST KIDDING, DON’T DO THAT, that could literally get this man fired”. 😳🤦🏻‍♀️ What if she happened to start flirting with him or even ask him out, and his supervisor happened to overhear? That could lead to all kinds of questioning and accusations along the lines of “what have you been saying to this patient, or what boundaries have you been crossing with her during your sessions, that she would feel like it’s okay to pursue that kind of conversation with you during her appointment/treatment?”, could lead to reprimand, could lead to suspicions with his superiors and make for a very uncomfortable work environment for him moving forward, make him feel like he no longer has job security, like he’s being watched, can affect how he interacts with his other patients moving forward if he were to be questioned, etc. There can be serious fallout. A lot of workplaces are being ruthless in discouraging certain interactions even between coworkers or other staff members, so provider/patient you for sure don’t mess around with. I have been in regular pt & also see my PFT every week, so 2X week for years due to longterm complications and symptoms from multiple rare autoimmune diseases, and my longtime pelvic floor therapist, who I am very close with (kind of hard not to bond with those folks lol😂🤷🏻‍♀️) was just telling me the other day how insufferable their office situation is getting, and how their supervisor just got in trouble, because another higher up was visiting for the day for a big staff meeting, and her supervisor made a joke during the meeting, and got seriously lectured about how unprofessional joking with subordinates was, and after that person finally left, their supervisor had to tell the whole staff he wasn’t allowed to interact like that with them anymore. It was a simple, harmless joke during a staff meeting. You can imagine if that other person had come across, or just overheard, a patient flirting with a provider as she’s being worked on, on the main floor, or worse, in a private room. And it’s definitely more dangerous for the male providers in this situation; y’all potentially put that man in a bad situation - at best, it’s an awkward one for him. I’ve been watching some older episodes I’d previously missed the past few days, and, damn, this show has just gone drastically downhill. The “advice” is generally just wildly inappropriate, problematic, and downright WRONG. Dangerous, even.

@@Free420Love thank you!!! Couldn’t have said it better myself. This advice was the worst I’ve heard them say. I guess since none of them have been in that clinical provider environment, they don’t understand the magnitude to how this could affect an individuals job security. But really not great advice and I hope that listener didn’t do what they suggested…

The guy mentioned in the NDA call sounds like he was feeding her a line of bull. The roommates being referred to as “business partners” should have been the red flag. I wouldn’t have believed a word he said.

Yeah the NDA guy gives scammer/catfish vibes 😂 Also I didn’t quite get why the caller called. The NDA is not on the table, the guy ghosted her it’s time to move on. Lately all of the ask Nick episode are boring and could have been an email 😵‍💫

How did they just skip over that this guys watching his exes and hims sex tapes, does his ex know and consent to him watching them have sex? is it not universally known u have to delete all your exes nudes etc when you break up like that’s so unbelievably messed up and wasn’t even acknowledged by anyone

Nick gave terrible advice for the caller with her bf watching his ex’s sex video. Personally sounds like he has an addiction to go to those great lengths of watching his ex and then paying for porn?? Yikes. Poor girl! Run 🏃‍♀️

These trends are some of the worst things I've heard recently. Not only do they sound like one partner is testing the other partner and also assigning weight to a certain reaction. At the end of the day, it is essentially trying to have two people behave the same exact way or have the same exact reactions. Everybody is different, there are plenty of acceptable times if 2 people don't react the same way to something and neither of them " fails a test."

Sometimes and most of the time relationships end. The breakup likely won’t be like getting fired where they point blank tell you it’s over. It’s just processing emotions and owning your part in the failed relationship

For the NDA caller, two things that sound cliche but are so true every time, actions speak louder than words and when someone shows you who they are believe them. In a perfect world, he would be direct and tell you he’s not interested or whatever the situation is. But you don’t need it to know he’s playing games.
