I really think those "gutters" are pointless. Water is still hitting the concrete and splashing back. They just don't seem to do enough.

I love what I just learned about the coffee pot, and the fridge! Going to save money right now! I'm cleaning the front of the fridge right now! I absolutely love this show for the new technology! Sorry but the guttterless gutter is not a good enough design for where I live. It would be great for people that live in California's L.A. area due to the massive loss of water there system has there. Thanks for everything you guys do! I absolutely love this RU-vid Channel! I tell everyone about it!.

The gutters aren’t intended to gather roof runoff - but to keep the siding-sheathing dry. All the experts chiming in should look at homes a little more outside of their immediate area. A lot of locales don’t even bother with gutters and mitigate erosion at the ground and handle drainage by site.

@@Kevin-mp5of in a lot of architecture traditions they don’t do gutters - in heavy snow areas? You don’t even bother. Grade the site properly. It’s how the Romans built. Building Science Guru Joseph has talked at length about it. There are diff strategies around the world and everywhere in the country. Pretending like one solution is optimal for every circumstance is just plain arrogant.

Jumping cactus - Jumping Cholla (pronounced: choy-yah) A nursery would NOT be selling Jumping Cactus because it's VERY invasive. So, no fear of accidentally buying that arid and native plant. You can find an image of the jumping cholla cactus online. You'll see thousands of spines, versus a "regular" cactus might have up to 100 spines. The comment made that the cactus is attracted to water isn't really true. We would throw rocks at it, just to see the spines shoot out all directions...up to 10-feet out. Also, we could walk by them without any of the spines jumping out. It's when they're disturbed that they eject the spines. The spines are NOT poisonous. It hurts when it pierces the skin, like a splinter, but there isn't any poison. They shoot out into the coats of animals walking by, in order to spread it's seed. At the end of each spine is the seed, much like at the end of a hair follicle is a bulb. When walking out in the desert, you'll see them long before they would eject spines. Again, don't disturb them, you're safe. We learned if we threw rocks, it basically ejected everything that was available to eject, so that when we walked by it, it would maybe weakly shoot off a spine or two.

i have the same idea on that sensor device, but the only difference is, it is not a sensor, but it is a small multiple LED on a single panel that will detect which outlets/device/component etc that are still turn on. i know it is a complex idea but i am trying to figure it out.
