8:19 your grandma looked very unbelieving there but you can let her know that the Vikings ships were extremely leightweight and they indeed carried them over land! Not necessarily through a forest (and not as fast running) like we saw in the show but they definitely crossed land with their ships to get from one river to another. You can read it up :) I am glad to see you picked this anime up again, it gets better with each episode and the second season is nominated for 5 awards right now! (Anime of the year, best main character, best drama etc.) And yes, Askeladd is a shithead but also the best written character in the first season. He is extremely layered and you will se more and more of it the further the episodes progress.
