Mad respect to GP2 for being an advocate for the dyslexic community. My son was recently diagnosed, and it's a big deal for him seeing someone he really looks up to, overcome that and succeed in life.
Yeah for sure! I’m a little disturbed by the question. I know it’s something he had to overcome, but what’s the point of asking in this situation? It doesn’t have anything to do with doubts coming back from an injury… other than it giving you the strength to handle new challenges. I’ve dealt with severe OCD and anxiety for most of my life, so if anyone knows what it’s like to have doubts in your head.. it’s me lol. I just don’t see how much dyslexia applies to this conversation. To me it’s just pointing out something that doesn’t need to be.
I probably have dyslexia, and my son has it, but i don't view it as something to overcome. I view it as a different way of understanding. She was trying to ask real questions. A for effort.
Agreed! The questions were not same old same old, but were thoughtful, prompting Gary to give thoughtful responses. I would like to hear her interview Gregg Popovich.
Its speaks alot what warriors organization is all about. Humbleness through ups and downs and how they support each others success on and off the court. You could say draymond is a trashtalker on the court but off the court he is also humble and very thankful of what they have accomplished over the years.
Dude the way his face lights up when you ask him a good question; props to you as the interviewer for makin players comfortable like that. Really wholesome.
So used to seeing Rachel conducting the on court and in-studio playoff interviews that I’m kinda just noticing you’re doing all of em now! Dope Dope DOPE!! U definitely deserve it. It warms my heart to see 2 young black women discussing NBA on tv at the same time. Not used to this but looking forward to everything y’all doing.👌🏾
What a dam story I’m so proud of you Gary 2 I use to see you as a baby at the games your dad was my favorite player on Seattle super sonics you are a warrior for life yay area
My heart broke for him when he said that. It sounds like Gary Payton I was trash talking his own son instead of building him up and supporting him. Damn. GP2 seems like a kind, gentle and humble person and I want only the best for him. I want him to get a ring this season so bad.
That shit hurt when I heard that I knew that had to hurt him growing up ... his own father didn’t believe in him & maybe deep down he did & did it to motivate his son but that’s what hurts a kids confidence the most especially considering who his father was ... I wish nothing but the best for GP2 he deserves it
To be clear, his dad trash talked him into making him find his inner fire for basketball, there is old articles about him discussing it. He wasn’t being a dick. He’s always in his games, always talking about him, and wears his son’s shirts
@@wahjidnasser7265 yeahhh your talking about now & when he got older ... you can’t trash talk a kid into finding his inner fire for a game they either have it or they don’t & nobody knows how he was with him as a child in his early years of playing & just guessing from the typa trash talker his father was I’m sure he said somethings that was unnecessary ...
The scouts are really dumb for not picking up this dude. He's has such an amazing impact on the game. Teams should be fighting to give this dude a contract.
I think you're right, but sometimes it takes all of the rejections and naysaying to become what he's become. On the flip side, it's hard to think that if he had been drafted to the Warriors that he wouldn't be as amazing as he is, and quite possibly even better. Hoping for some big moments in the rest of the series, and looking forward to the coming years, and it damn well better be with the Warriors! He clearly shines the brightest with them, and they are so much better with him on the team. I'm betting that he is going to get more and more minutes, and will start a bunch of games next season, and even become one of the starting 5.
Unfortunately he is the story of one of the guys good enough to be in the NBA at one style but the NBA teams was asking him to play differently. At his height and speed most teams would want him to be the PG but when you see him with the GSW he's biggest Stretch 5 (Center) there is lol. Bucks, Raptors and other teams couldn't fit him in THEIR system while GSW seemingly found a way. No shade on the other teams though but GPII just fitted with GSW better.
it only takes ONE person, on ONE team, to believe in you. 10% of pro athletes will thrive no matter what 10% will flame out no matter what the other 80% .... depends on finding the right fit
True strength is doing the work even when no one is watching, even when you yourself are doubting the possibility. Not everyone who works hard becomes a champion, but every champion has worked hard to get to where they are. GP2 is an inspiration. Thank you for this awesome interview.
Congrats to GP2 for his NBA dream coming true. GS has some of the best NBA qualities in the players, and that's one reason they are winning even when expected not to win.
The teams who cut him ain’t getting no rings 🤣 Crazy how life works ..Dude is so humble tryna stay around still even though he knew he didn’t make it ..
So hard to dislike gp2, so humble and down to earth. Worked hard to get here, dudes cut from this cloth don’t stay down when they get knocked down. Hope the dubs can sign something long term with him.
That’s a testimony that with God all things are possible. Working from sweating eyebrow. Gary 2 awesome person, never given up on his dream. With God and his believe in his self 💪🏽💯‼️🔥🔥🔥
Malika has some of the best insightful and engaging interview skills in sports, and I won't mention being an eye candy as well! That's why Klay was checking her out while drilling his practice 3's, the shooter wants to take some of those shots!
@@Rhaspun these guys are going to be some of the richest people on the planet, I guarantee they aren't cat calling her or being disrespectful when they have their pick of literal millions of women......
The 2 women who makes me most proud right now is Malika Andrews and Candance Owens. I love hearing them both talk and just seeing and hearing the professionalism they both bring to the table. Like most blacks in society, I was brainwashed about Candance Owens until I started listening to her views and realized it was everything I been saying on here for the last 10 or so years. It's tragic that somebody who is fighting so hard to save us is hated by the very people she is trying to save. .........GRIM
Malika asking about "quieting the voices in your head" just as Klay gets close and Klay's like, "what? he's hearing voices??????" Before he hears enough to get the context and is like "OK, I can move on..." ;-)
There is a RU-vid channel that is operated by Korean-American who is dedicated to GSW games and he mentioned that his friend actually met Gary Payon II in one of shopping malls and asked him to take a picture with him and he was really nice about it and very down to earth. Of course, one could grow to become arrogant and self-serving once they become famous but by the look of this interview, he looks very humble and nice.
When she asked him about persevering through the challenges he has gone through and he said his dad would tell him he wasn't a good basketball player, and he said after accomplishing something and making them eat their words. That hit me in the heart, man
Malika: “Gary you BUSTED onto the scene this year” Was Malika’s emphasis on ‘busted’ super necessarily? LMAOOO got me thinking GP2 busted onto another scene this year and RJ still doesn’t know about it
I don't follow basketball at all, but when I watch the Warriors, I really like Payton. Not a giant of a player, but he's solid. Offense, D, team player, etc. Solid player.
GP is so Humble. I heard he says Wiggins when she asked him bout posterized or make a defensive to Steph. Warriors should extended his current contracts
I enjoy watching Gary Payton played defense as much as I do watching Curry play offense Thompson said it best I can watch this guy played defense all night long
GP senior probably grew up poor and in the hood. If that's the case, then he probably has a cold way of viewing the world (which you can see in his aggressive attitude when he speaks). On the other hand, his son grew up rich and didn't have to face the hardships that his father did. So, he isn't able to relate to the way his dad views the world, and takes what he says the wrong way. It is a sad thing, but GPII will probably be able to understand and reconcile when he gets older and wiser.
