I make about 75k/year but with overtime I could get 120K/year. But its a grueling job. Luckily im 56 and I could retire this year. im tired of all the BS. I can finally enjoy my pension. 30 years for the USPS. 6 years in the military. Cash out my TSP. My Roth IRA and get my Supplemental Social Security.Sell my house and move somewhere much more cheaper.
I'll be starting for the second time soon as an RCA (Rural Carrier Associate), which is a sub. My starting pay will be $19.91 per hour, and if I ever use my own personal vehicle, which is unlikely now that my office has the Mercedes vans that replaced the LLVs, I'll get $0.91 per mile. Since I'll be the only sub at this office of 19 rural routes, I'll be working full time and be next in line for a regular route after my 90 day probationary period. Some of y'all might not think that's worth it, but I can honestly say, I've never made that much in my life. I'll be able to pay all my bills and save enough to repair my house. I'm ecstatic that I'll be able to also fence in my yard so my dog can run around free when she wants to! It's not a huge amount, but just not having to worry about money will be such a stress reliever.
The 1st guy is 1000% wrong about the pay. 😂 Top pay for a City Carrier is almost $40hr. That guy has been here 20 years and doesn't know what he makes.
In 2023 max base pay is around 75k or 36 an hour . However it will take you 13 years as a regular to get to that level (CCA time does not count) more then 50% of a 20 year career. When you make regular you will be at 46k or 22 an hour. You will get small raises every 10 months but the raises are so insignificant you won’t see it . And yes you get cola as well but you only get 100% of the cola only if you are maxed on the pay scale .
Max pay is more than $27. More like $36 and rising. Can't believe some of these guys don't know how much they are paid. 😮 The only reason we give them our time is for the $$$.
Starting pay may sound pretty low at under $20, but they're gonna work your ass off working 50-70hrs/week depending on your station. I started at around $17 something in 2019, made between $2100-$2700 bi-weekly paycheck after tax, few times even hit over 3k a paycheck during Covid/ last Election season. Crazy hours, high stress, but good money when you're constantly on OT daily (10-12 hours). This job IS NOT for everyone.
$ 27 an hour at top pay was ten years ago. Does he even know what he is making after 20 years? 😂 $ 37 is top pay as of 2022. 76 k a year without overtime. After overtime, I would say 90 k to 100 k. Usps is currently renegotiating a new contract. Expect OT pay in the summer and in November December. Proof of OT is when you see carriers outside still working at 7 pm.
When you first come on board the post office you will work your butt off be ready never to have a day off you’ll be lucky to get one day off a week be prepared to bounce around from office to office and have a flexible schedule.
I was the first person hired in my city after the 1972 strike, starting pay was $4 per hr. Former job was $2 per hr. In 1984, we were given the option to stay in CSRS or switch to SS, I stayed w/CSRS which gave me more than SS per month. When I retired in 2009, pay was about $26 per hr.
Starting pay is just above $30 an hour for a TTO (tractor trailer operator). There's a lot of work involved it's not just drop a trailer. We have to unload at stations and have to load equipment. Mail is heavy. If you're lucky enough to get just plant to plant then you're physical labor is a lot less.
Bro what ever you do don't work for the USPS they don't put the employees over safety. The worst position is the rual carriers they actually have to use their own cars, pay for all the gas and pay for all the car repairs and believe me there's a lot of them. This is the only job I know of where you could lose more money then you make by buying gas and vehicle repairs.
Most end up staying longer because currently retiring at 20 years you only get about 1000 a month with the annuity. To increase the amount you have to give more years. There are fewer numbers under the old civil service retirement pension these days .
There is no pension anymore for anyone who joins after the year 2013. You get Tsp which is like a 401k and a small annuity for retirement but it’s not much. They stopped doing drug test since they are having a hard time finding bodies work.
@ES-je3em There is a pension. The pension is, I believe it's 60% of your highest 3 years. The amount also depends on whether you retire at 20 or 30 years. You're vested after year seven.
Postage service lost all my respect, stole my both of my great grandson birthday cards, mailed through a Joliet Illinois post office, federal offense, but nothing done, but if somebody steals mail out of a mail box, the postal inspection will track down and arrest the criminal, But their own can steal out of the post office itself and no arrest
That's not true they go after the person. If a USPS worker has stolen from a customer. Best believe it's going to be an Investigation And they'll investigate like the FBI you. 'll be months and you don't think nothing. And they come and rest you out of nowhere
@@jazminrodriguez9026 wrong, according to the email response they stated they stopped looking. Real how many people actual touch that piece of mail to leave Joilet, from the front counter to a sorter. And binned for distribution, Go figure
And do you have proof that the carrier steal it? Most of the time it got lost somewhere at the process plants. All you people always blame on your mail carriers. Your mailman delivered what ever mails that is given to him or her for that day. So before you blame on your mail carrier keep in mind it might got lost somewhere or better yet get it certified that way you’ll get your important stuffs to where it supposed to be. I only mail it certified and never once get lost.
@@henreenguyen9767 postal employees stole, plain and simple. You’re an idiot to state go certified, it may have got lost, good excuses, wrong. we should be able to trust the us post office. Spell this to me, I later mailed Easter cards. And guess what! Not delivered. Hmmm. Walk up.
