In modern Exandria, Each of the betrayer gods has an artifact like this and each contains the soul of a fiend. Xartaza was used to create the mace and she resides within it.
OK. That's what I THOUGHT happened when I first watched it, but it was like 3 in the morning and I wasn't sure. And then watching this clip makes it seem like he just killed the erinyes with it, making me even more confused.
@@giorgiomauceri410 there's two seperate items. One is a mace, the other is a rod that marks station in Asmodeus' highest ranks, with aspects of himself like the one on his throne wielding a copy of it. Asmodeus himself, is a giant snake at the bottom of the pit, his body weak from the fall. He draws the souls of true non believers to him to gain back his strength. Anyone who truly doesn't believe in a god of any kind, goes to him.
Asmodeus in this scene goes mad from the fact Zerxus pities him, so what does he do? He gets extra petty, tells the paladin that his son is basically going to be his minions new chew toy forever xD. What. A. Bastard.
I've played with and played Vengeance Paladins that would roll their eyes at Zerxus. Zerxus was a fool, a deer that practically leapt into the headlights after seeing the car coming.
Honestly I disagree. His faith, his believe in redemption may seem arrogant but it is also specifically what gave him his power. If you honestly mean to tell me "Well, I saw this coming" I'm gonna call you a liar.
@@Hyperdragon1701 I did see Asmodeus playing Zerxus like a fiddle coming. I made comments in videos from episode 2 of Calamity and had people telling me I can't know if Asmodeus is evil when I was citing lore.
@@Hyperdragon1701 Asmodeus was manipulating Zerxus from the start. Even after his crocodile tears, looking like Evandrin, and telling Zerxus "I am the Lord of Lies", Zerxus still thought that Asmodeus could be redeemed. He thought he could redeem a tyrannical, hateful, abusive, and genocidal asshole-archfiend that wouldn't want "redemption."
Well you literally just saw the lore behind the mace. It's the counter balance to a vestige of divergence, like Grogs titan stone knuckles, but made for/by a betrayer God or a follower. Essentially it's a Uber powered custom made magic weapon
@@bestofcriticalrole its also a cursed demon binding weapon so the person who wields it gains the power of one of the best weapons in the game but looses everything to the mace as it will clame their soul in the end and turn them into something nobody ever wants to become. a monster a good example of what i mean by this would be from warhammer the weapon that corrupted Yuri Barkov into the deamon godslayer was a cursed demon binding weapon. all the power at the cost of everything he ever held dear.
@@summeraidan5815 its all determined on just how it gos for him in the end. Ya the pact deal was altered to give him more time but he did cut it close and its the betrayer god of lies who he has it with so who knows if he was even being truthful or not. Hell their might not even been a pact, he took up the mace his soul is now his. Ether way, He is his first champion and probably one of the greatest he will ever get. This is do to his vary high starting level that will drastically increase do to being transformed into a higher devil and welding a mythical legendary class weapon of epic paportons. Has a moldable and corruptible yet already usfull skill set, natural resistances towards most things that would usually harm him and perfectly matched states for someone ment to be his fist. The downside (and our upside) is also what will probably save him from turning completely or possible even falling. That is his exstreamly high will, high pain talarence, doesn’t fear death and an ubsesion with redemption so great that almost ruined the world and redeemed vespin during his final moments He’s drastically overpowered in this role, but he will also be fighting every single step he ever takes in it
EXU Calamity is a miniseries that is set on the eve of the Calamity, run by Brennan Lee Mulligan. Matt and Brennan had many talks about stuff but Brennan pretty much had completely free reign.
Matt Mercer is the main creator behind the Critical Role franchise, which this series is a part of. this series, Exandria Calamity, was made by Matt and Brennan Mulligan, the man describing the scene there
But what IS Mercer??? I mean he is the voice to thousands of NPC's, and has lovely hair, he also is well known for his sophisticated taste in whiskey and how to drink it. But will we ever truly know what he really is?
