Huh? Diablo 4 already has this. Barbarian switches between 3 different weapon sets based on the skill you use. Rogue also switches between melee and ranged based on the skill.

Give Blizzard a break, they couldn't implement something similar because it creates a lot of memory overhead. When you see another player in game you load them and their entire skill trees.

(as someone that has never played POE) tbf the general advice for new players is to start out using a guide instead of trying to go in blind so not sure added complexity makes that much of a difference. Like going from a complexity of 50 to 75, when new players may be overwhelmed by 20, is not going to matter. If a new player would not use a guide in the first place no amount of added or removed complexity will change that. These changes just seem like the devs fixing annoying problems that the community has by adding another system to the game, perfectly fine for the vets and will be just 1 more thing to learn for the newer players.

@@Exarvi I dont think you understand what "longevity" means. Adding more systems on top of systems by adding more things to micromanage. Adding overly complex horse shit on top of the already bloated game systems wont do anything but give people further reason to not play. meaning those who do play will eventually wane and without fresh blood, the playerbase will dwindle. thats the opposite of longevity. I hate when developers listen to the 1% of mouthbreathing neckbeard tryhards.

thats always been the case imo. I found poe after playing d3 for about a week. I was sad/disappointed almost immediately after waiting a generation from D2 for another best game ever. POE is what diablo 2 players wanted in diablo 3. I havnt looked back to blizz since, except for a brief stint into HoTS. Anything they put out that isnt free to play is a waste of money and supports a turd of a company.

I personally never played Diablo or Path of Exile but I can’t help but notice the drastic difference between the two. PoE2 looks so much better than Diablo 4. The spells alone look 50 times better than anything I have seen in diablo. They really put a lot of work into every detail

TBH, this isn't anything new. It's just having an alternate spec that swaps automatically based on skill usage. Personally... I'm not sure why they are adding this. I'd love to hear their motivation behind this as it's just massive power creep and defeats some of the purpose of making new characters.

@@ohyea456 They're adding it because it gives variety. There are plenty of times where some skills want certain points for AoE and others for ST. This allows those things to work at maximum potential without having to use weird elemental conversions to do so. Or if we look at something like regular PoE, when you don't need the splash from Tribal Fury, you can have it instead go into more damage like frenzy nodes or some more crit or w/e you could've spent those points in instead. This allows for more variety and letting some skills that shine in AoE or ST to be used with skills that shine in the opposite without harming the other. Could also make for unique playstyles of an elementalist, using multiple elements without having to use weird shenanigans like Omni.

I mean how could the D4 Devs ever know that Stash space is a priority for AARPG players, especially those wanting to build multiple classes? This is the most revolutionary game architecture in years. Eliminates micro management, eliminates frustration when you get a very nice weapon for one specific build after hours of farming. Plus from a gameplay perspective its simply elegant and badass at the same time. OMG. This looks a lote better than D4 (a dissapointment for me...I played it for a week and now reverted back to playing D2 resurrected).

Guided Arrow on one side and Charged Strike on the other, or Lower Resistance curse on one side and your caster DPS set on the other, or Stormshield to take hits on one side and Spirit on another for going on the offense, or a Smite Paladin having Grief and HoZ/Exile on one side and a 2 handed ethereal Death Decapitator on the other for using Charge. I can go on and on, but the creativity was wild in D2.

I thought about this mechanics a while back thinking why isn't there a game where you can use weapons swap together with skill swaps so that you can utilize 2 play styles. And also if you can take out class restrictions, make it classless, you can swap between melee and ranged play together. you can also do attack + defensive (team buff) together too. Lots of posibilites utilizing weapon swap and skills together, this mechanics will make pvp fun too if you can swap attack and deffense skills on reaction. And finally a game moving in the right direction.

Other MASSIVE implication here is, say you are 2h melee, you could weapon swap to a full hp block defensive tree witb a 1h and shield, or go from aoe clearspeed 2h to a single target setup with this. This fundamentally solves a ton of problems in arpgs where you had to either abuse some game mechanic or build a generalist that had both.

Compared to other systems of complexity, I feel like this is one of the more intuitive. It’s like wanting use a sword with sword skills and a staff for magic skills. You use one free for one skill, and another for another skill. It intuitively makes sense.

Not just because its a bad game, but because of its timing. D4 was the last "hope" for blizzard. WoW isnt doing well player wise and they arent interested in making a WoW 2. They also killed all their other franchises so there is nothing to look forward to anymore.. They think people will care about some survival MMO they are making?? That genre was never even popular to begin with. Just awful decision making going on at that company all around.

I just wanted the "always attack without moving" checkbox for D4. Its been a staple of PoE for years, playing without it just feels like you aren't playing a modern game.

I know it's not the same but if you hold shift your character will stay in place to cast. For controller your character will only move when you actually want to. I want that option too, it's annoying to have to hold a button when controller works that way without adjustment and PoE has it built in

i have not close to 800 hrs in 10 years of playing, sure i dont play every league, just one in three but i i never played a single league more than 120 hrs including afk times for trade(and they last 3 months) and i always get to t16's and usually beat top boss for the league. You dont have to compete in ladder, have 6 mirror eq or even beat every boss to enjoy the game.

Don't be afraid of the tree. There are thousands of guides that you can use to help you learn or even just to show you what to do for your build. The game is great and only continues to get better while blizzard is imploding. It's sucks to waste a bunch of money on a game that doesn't pay out but that's just how it goes sometimes

The tree is large, yes, but most of the nodes are pretty simple passives, so you can get pretty far into the game without needing to focus on anything game-changing. Most of the more complicated parts of the tree aren't even really accessible until you're pretty far into the game. By that time, you will probably have re-rolled a character or two anyway unless you're following a guide, in which case they are pretty good at explaining why you take which nodes. I hate playing by guides, personally, I think it ruins the explorative aspects of the game but there are really good guides out there for those that need that to actually get into the game.
