Hey Mauve, what are some of the elements of a book that make it interesting for you. For nonfiction I like candor and humor. For fiction l like fast pace and descriptive.
1) your soft spoken voice is amazing 🤤 2) I must read Assembly - you got my hooked 3) your book haul just encouraged me to buy more books LOL - having a bunch of new books is the best feeling ❤️❤️
Thanks! You're so sweet! Also YES having tons of fun books just waiting to be read is probably my favorite feeling ever. Also I loved hearing that you're loving Sally Rooney! You mentioned it in a video and I don't know if I commented this at the time but I like Convo more than Normal People and thoroughly enjoyed both. Anyway, I've been thinking of you and hoping you're well and trying to send some calming energy your way xx
@@MauveASMR I literally just finished Normal People tonight and the ending has me in all my emotions!! 😭 I just ordered Beautiful world, Where are you, but so far Conversations is my fave by far!
Hi Mauve. How are you? Love your book related videos! And I've already added The Idiot to my TBR. The Dutch House sounds like a harsh story but I'm pretty intrigued. I recently read The Terracotta Bride by Zen Cho and absolutely loved it. It's a really short book but so interesting from start to finish. I'm in a Stephen King book club and we re-read The Shining. It was just as great as the first time. And I'm currently reading The Woman In The Purple Skirt by Natsuko Imamura. Hope you have a good night and a peaceful week. Take care.
I don’t comment much, but I’ve loved your book videos for a while! You give such unique recommendations that I’ve loved (two that I can think of are A Ghost in the Throat and Milkman 😊). Can’t wait to check some of these books out!
I really enjoyed Assembly by Natasha Brown and we seem to have similar reading taste I think!! I read temporary after watching your bookshelf tour and I enjoyed it. the strange tales from a chinese studio sounds really great, will def check it out. love your vids as always
Yes! I love book ASMR ❤️❤️ thanks Mauve! I just finished Gleam, the third book in the Plates Prisoner series, and i highly recommend if you like fantasy!
I loooooved the idiot, I read it in the same way, I couldn’t put it down and it’s one of those books that’s I think really difficult to articulate what’s so special about it but I loved it very much. Definitely one of my favorite books I’ve read in the last few years. I’m reading this is how you lose the time war, which I think is very beautifully written, but because it’s scifi time travel and written very poetically I find I need to be very awake and attentive while I’m reading to follow it. I also recently finished reading Jeanette wintersons memoir, which was really moving I thought. I love your videos where you talk about books, and I love your taste! I put a lot of books you mention in these videos on my reading list 🖤
Cannot tell you how much I love your book videos! We have very similar taste. I've read and loved The Pumpkin Eater and So Many Olympic Exertions. I'm picking up the Once and Forever because of this video - sounds amazing.
@@MauveASMR A couple I've loved recently are The Chronology of Water by Lidia Luknavitch (a stunning, heavy on the heart memoir), Permafrost by Eva Baltasar (bold, blunt novel), Self Portrait in Green by Marie Ndiaye (haunting, unusual, strange) & Disoriental by Negar Djavadi (expertly written Persian novel). I could go on forever but hopefully some of these peak your interest🌻
Love your book related videos! You always have unique and interesting recommendations. I’m currently reading How High We Go in the Dark, very interesting speculative fiction!
Yay!! Mauve is back with a new book video🎉 definetly want to look into Sharks in the Time of Saviours. I'm currently not reading much but i bought Marlène by Philippe Djian & Freaks by Joey Goebel, excited to read them once i'm in the mood again! ^^
Started reading bunny by Mona Awad which is very good and have recently purchase Otessa Mosfegh as I believe you’d mentioned her in one of your book reviews!! 😃
Just picked up Sheila Heti's new book, Pure Colour. If you haven't read anything by her, I think you should definitely check out How Should A Person Be? or Motherhood. They're fantastic :)
I didn't love How Should A Person Be but I've really been into her serialized diary project on NYT -- Motherhood has been on my list though! And I've been eyeing Pure Colour, so one of the two will have to be bought sooner or later :)
Thank uuuu, a few more have gone on my list! Aside from things I've stolen from you, I'm really looking forward to Moshfeghs upcoming book Lapvona, which sounds like it's a fantasy setting which I think could be great. Also saw a book the other day called when women were dragons, which is about hundreds of thousands of women becoming dragons in 1955 America. That might be fun but I haven't read anything from it so who knows. Umm also picked up a book called the rain heron on a whim which I read a page of and liked the prose. Most recently I read earthlings by Sayaka Murata, catch the rabbit (thx), as well as two short story books: cursed bunny by Bora Chung and the dangers of smoking in bed by Mariana Enriquez. Have to say I bought the latter one due to hype and muuuch preferred cursed bunny, which was similar but better. But I def liked them all. Currently reading who was left and who was dead, can't remember if that was recommended by you or not... But if not it's a fairytaleish/darkly funny book about an ill fated English village... It's a bit like untitled goose game but the goose in this context is a flood and a plague. Pretty good thus far!
YES! Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead is one of my all-time favorites! I can't remember if I've recommended it here or not either but I love it so much. Also lol comparing it to Untitled Goose Game. I'm looking forward to Lapvona too -- let me know what you think! Haven't read Cursed Bunny but had similar feelings about Dangers. Didn't dislike it but was left feeling a little unsatisfied
Loved the idiot! Dutch house was okay, but state of wonder and commonwealth are my favorite Ann Patchett. also recommend Vladimir by Julia May Jonas as an interesting debut novel :)
