She’s right about leg cramps, potassium deficiency can cause it( also dehydration) . I’ve had them off and on my whole life and potassium and more water really helps

She is indeed correct. People even without any activity has to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. And take magnesium from food or as pill. And regarding alcohol. One glass of beer should be followed by glass of water because beer is diuretic. Also one small glass of scotch or tequila (~40% vol) should be followed by 2-3dl of water.

Drinking alcohol always makes me cramp my legs when I wake up in the morning too! Every time! And it’s super painful. I think it’s related to dehydration and lack of magnesium like she said.

Combination of both! Usually I would ask how much water drinking on daily basis to see if that’s the trigger but Mel drinks sufficiently.

I used to get charley horses in my calf all the time in my late teens and twenties because I was away in school or working at a summer camp and NEVER remembering to get all the nutrients I needed. There's nothing like waking up in the middle of a cabin in the woods on a top bunk, surrounded by sleeping kids and trying to stifle the agony of a muscle cramp 😅

Tip for the future that might help: stretch your leg out and point your toes up towards your face, or, if able, get up and walk around. I've done the former as someone who suffers from intermittent cramp problems and it really helps me.

Kinesiology: the study of the mechanics of body movements. Kinesiology is a medical practice to help heal and recover patients through mechanical movements and exercise. That is not what this is. Does the medical term mean something else in Europe or something?

That is so weird Hannah I suffer from exactly the same thing with the cramp at ridiculously early times. I wake up and my calfs literally seize solid and it makes me scream out loud like yourself. Within a minute or so it returns to normal and I fall back to sleep. Very strange !!

I have a thing for this type of quackery-as-asmr and ive always seen this flag salute stuff referred to as 'nutrition response' (which makes as much sense lmao) but thats a good question. I swear that was already an existing field of medicine. Are they allowed to use real medical terms for this stuff?
