Just to let you know...whatever video I got on my watch later, if your new video comes up, I will literally move it first in the playlist. It's such a joy to be able to listen to your work!
Don’t even worry about the pronunciation, it’s usually really hard for foreigners here to get right anyways, and most of it was really good anyways. The information given in the video was still like perfect.
Good tips for pronouncing maori words, treat them similalry to how youd pronounce japanese words, pronouncing each vowel/vowel pair, and if u see vowels with a dash on top (Ā,Ū,Ō, etc) thats where youd stress/lengthen it, otherwise youd generally wanna stress the 2nd to last syllable of a word
The way that I learned to pronounce "Maori" correctectly as an Australian was by realising that it sounds very similar to "mouldy" -- not sure if this will work as well with other accents, but basically the vowel sound is identical. I wish I could give a better linguistic explanation as to why! P.S. Don't feel nervous trying to pronounce words and getting them wrong! In my opinion it's great to still try and use traditional names even if your pronounciation isn't perfect
I'm from Auckland. Good video, was happy with the mention of Mt Eden, One Tree Hill, Waiheke Island and so on and so on. In terms of beaches in the Auckland region, the most famous is Piha beach, for its black sand and how dangerous it can be. Also your pronunciation of Hōne Heke was good.
Oh wow that place with the cliffs and beaches is also where they filmed part of Mamamoo's Starry Night music video! I also thought I recognized them even though I'd never seen that Taeyeon MV. I always enjoy it when you mention Kpop somehow lol
@@ASMRGeographica Haha oh wow that's so cool, so am I! I feel like we both probably enjoyed that clip of Hwasa naming world capitals on Knowing Bros lol
My volume is at 10 the highest it can go. I’ve checked it with the other devices. You need a new Mike because I can still barely hear you even with headphones on.
