What is ASMR? Why am I whispering?
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and is the current (non-scientific) name given to the feeling characterized as a pleasurable tingling sensation felt in the head, scalp, back and other regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli, such as crinkling bags, hand movements, whispering and personal attention.
My videos are not only meant to help induce ASMR or "tingles", but also help provide a relaxing, calming and soothing experience for the viewer while helping to provide stress relief (especially for those suffering from depression, anxiety and even PTSD), help people sleep and even serve as a study aid.

I lost my dog earlier today. Sounds pathetic I know but he was everything to me and now he has gone, I don't know what to do with myself. He was a massive help with my mental health and my best friend. Thanks for the video ER, hopefully I can try and get some sleep.

I hope you're doing well and I think this isn't pathetic at all. Pets should be seen as family members or friends too because the bond they have with humans can be as strong. I lost my cat last week and I feel your pain and relate. She was in my life for fifteen years and our bond was strong. I used to take her on walks in the summer and rub her belly whenever I was sitting and doing something else. I miss her so much and will love her forever ❤🐱

I lost my brother April 22nd this year... He and I did it all together, had many things we wished to accomplish together. I love and miss him every single day. I lost my mum this week. She died by an e coli infection which cut off her oxygen supply. I was luckily at home when it happened so I was able to keep her alive and call an ambulance but by then it was too late. What was left was a body with no one in it. She was only 46 and has only just started to see me grow up into my adult years. I'm 16 and I'm just going into college and she was so proud of everything I achieved in high school. She raised me perfectly and I couldn't imagine how she could've improved. She was the nicest woman I've ever known. She was amazing. My life will forever be dedicated to her I love you so much mum

Wow, seeing this after commenting on your happiness video about people I've lost, this hits on a really personal level. Losing both grandparents, a childhood friend of almost 20yrs, two pets, and surviving an attempted murder myself when I was a teen, this video means A LOT. We just lost our dog of 16 years. We put her to sleep in her sleeping spot on our couch. She was surrounded by me, my sister, my mom, my dad and my mom's boyfriend. We all pet her as she was put to sleep. Goodnight Suzy...I'll miss you but I'll love you more forever and always.

Thanks, about 3 months ago i lost my uncle. He was only 58 abd sufferd from cancer. He is a cery well known artist throughout norway, and at his funeral the king and queen of norway atended, and because of that a lot of paparazzis aswell. So my 90 year old grandmother aswell as his wife, and two daughters didnt really seem to get the peace that they deserved. RIP Uncle Kjell Nupen.

A lot of people have died in my life, and it gets to the point where you're desensitized to it all. I kinda accept now that it happens to everyone, and that it'll happen to me, and that's the way the Earth and the Universe functions, that their deaths are, in a way, part of the bigger picture, and serve a bigger purpose. That thought alone gives me inner peace.

Today i lost my pet turtle. She only lived for a year and a few months which has me feeling a lot of guilt, especially since im a child. In 2022, last year, my father and grandma died too. had to put down my year and a half year old cat, he was my everything, he saved my life countless times simply by existing, its been two months since i lost him and i feel like i’ll never be over it. thank you for helping me rest on a night where the grief pains are unbearable. i’m beginning to forget how he smelled, i just know he smelled better than anything. i’m beginning to forget how he felt, i just know he was the softest animal i had ever laid a hand on. i’m beginning to forget how his face looked without seeing a photo, i just know it was the most perfectly crafted face, he was the most beautiful creature. no one will understand how i saw him or how much i loved him, he was my own son, my baby. he made my partner and i a family. sorry for the rant, no one will probably read this but it was really nice to just let it out for a little. thanks 💗

I waited a really long time to watch this and due to the fact that I'm pretty sensitive to the subject, I'm actually really refreshed at how you didn't make it sound depressing at all. And I like wakes where there's food. I hope when I go, people throw a party. No sense in being sad (even though it's a healthy reaction), I like to remember the good times myself.

Thank you a lot for this ER, my mother passed on Thursday and its been hard. I'm eighteen years old and I watched her go while me and my dad tried to help her from her insulin reaction but she passed away without her knowing so I thank god for that. This video helped me feel better about the event, my mom was around 48 and the best woman I've met in my lifetime. A bit of a rambling comment but in summary. Thank you.

A thought I've had is that we don't truly die when we pass away. In your case, your son undoubtedly has elements/features of yourself due to his genetics. What I'm getting at is when a father passes away, parts of him are still alive/present in his child, and if that child is fortunate enough to have children the chain continues.

I love these videos. I call them REAL videos -where he is just himself, talking about life, delivering great messages that -for me -provide hope. I love these videos where he talks about the simple pleasures of life (beer, chocolate, beef jerky, The Walking Dead etc.) and just keeps it real. What separates his videos and relaxes me, is how human he is. It is nice to see that at least one imperfect human is alive and well, living day to day, appreciating the little-big things and not trying to present himself as anything other than what I am, what we are, what he is. I have a deep respect for him as a father, my dad left when I was 3yrs old. His son is clearly a constant in his mind and in my opinion there is no greater accomplishment than being an active, present and loving father. Great Video, Great Message, Thank You.

I lost my mum at the age of 11 months (I'm now 17) through a car crash, and although I never knew her I see my friend's mums and I kinda notice my parental disadvantage. I just learned yesterday that my cousin, who I grew up with and spent a lot of time with, passed away. We don't know any of the details yet but he was a sad, lonely, tortured soul and I already miss him dearly. This video was really comforting, you always seem like an uncle who just wants to make sure everyone is ok. I'm not entirely, but I know I will be. Same but my cousin was a she and she passed away two weeks ago. She had a drinking problem; she loved her beer too much as well. Not only that but she also had PBC which is an autoimmune liver disease. They didn't discover it until she basically passed away. It truly sucks. Sorry for your loss because I understand the pain. I can't speak for those who have lost friends and family but my mother recently had a miscarriage. The pain from the loss of someone I never even had a chance to meet was scary. The thought of bonding to someone emotionally and then losing them is crushing. Existential crisis time at roughly 1:30 A.M.

too al those whom were brave enough to post your sorrow in the comments i congratulate you and i too have experienced a great amount of loss in my life my uncle abuses drugs my cousin was murdered i was bullied for 7 years of my life but no one ever admitted to life being easy i don't believe there is such a belief that it ever could but it always gets better life can batter you beat you hell even scar you but you can always recover stronger than you were before so just remember these words the beauty in grace is that it makes life unfair if you know these words you'll understand BTW thank you Paul for all that you do for us the viewers.

I seem to be very late to this video. But I had just lost my cousin yesterday and my family and I have been going through a very tough time and I just wanted to find something to help me somewhat cope with it. Thank you for publishing this video as it has helped me way more than I had realized.

Hey ER, I really love the serious mentality side of your videos and ASMR. What if you combined both and made a series of " lets talk " with the big most commen emotions such as loss, depression, anxiety, loneliness, anger and so on. I really love your videos, and what you do for everyone. God bless !
