Top comments eng translation ) Hello I'm the owner of shoes in vid. these are my birthday present from my mother 2 years ago. She wanted to let me wear fancy shoes although she was hard to afford it. These are my mother's first present so percious to me. So that's the reason why i wear those though condition was bad.I just applied this restore event and glad to be chosen. Thanks for vetiver and i'm gonna wear these nicley thanks:) not good at english but i tried my best:)) thanks 후반부에 힘들어서 그냥 대충했네요 ! ㅜ ㅜ
Ikr!! The cycle of buying, using, throw it once it looks worm out has been too normalized... That if you tryi to repair/retrieve your belongings, you'd be getting side eyes from people.. I'm trying not to get affected by it. If it served its purpose very well, I'll try to fix it first before thinking about buying a new one.
@@georgea_brooklyn the owner was poor she they are a present from his mom so he wore them everyday because they meant alot to him. It's not about the money it's about the message
Fenti Darko i didnt say it was about the money. i’m just adding to the fact that people would want these restored as they also happen to be a collectors item
I literally just hung up the phone with my fiance where I was telling him about "this cool shoes restoration video I just watched" and said, "y'know the scene in Toy Story 2 where they sew up Woody? and they paint his eyeballs? this reminded me of that." Glad to know you were thinking of it too!!!
you didn't just restore someone's shoe, you also restored someone's memory and feeling. thank you for chosen this pair of shoes. you have gold skill and heart 💕
Restoration of anything is just awesome. Doesn't matter if it costs more to restore than buying a new pair. It elevates the meaning of owning an object to another level, very noble.
epic i have 20 pairs of shoes and most of them still look like i just took them out of the box but i still wear my busted up puma rs x’s almost daily. it’s charm to me is the busted up look
"ah but the heel and the sol--" no shit, Sherlock. They KNOW. Look at the state of the shoes at the beginning, maybe it was agreed with the owner to make changes better for constant use or comfort. So much inconsiderate nagging...
I agree. Obviously the owner and the restorer agreed that the owner of the shoes drags his heels so that extra support around the heel area was necessary.
This is the kind of repair I was expecting from a shoe repair shop. Last time I sent my converse, the repair man just added leather at the back and said the heels are a lost cause.
I love my chucks so much they're literally hanging on for dear life. They're barely attached anymore and they threads are all over the place. They're my favorite pair of shoes and my go-to for sure. Love driving in them, also. Best road and pedal feel (standard transmission).
craftsmanship is a form of art, this is a form of art. people can complain this would be better or that isn't exactly the same but there's one fact: this is a hard work and it's beautiful!
I didn’t even know a shoe in that condition can be brought back to life, this is my 3rd video watching. I first watched 100year old shoes then ballerina shoes get restored. Really love watching these videos to see how they’re actually fixed and restored.
This is not resoling. This is essentially like adding a "topper" to more traditionally constructed shoes. except here it's a different (flexible) material, which is what repair shops usually do, even when they shouldn't (that is, if the damage goes further than the outsole, like in the case of this shoe). Resoling sneakers can be possible though, although it's much harder to do because cemented soles (that's true not just sneakers, but also most cheap and designer shoes), and you certainly can't do it indefinitely, like you could with Goodyear Welted shoes.
Whenever someone says something “can’t be done” it’s because they *don’t have the guts* to admit they’re too *unexperienced* and *uninterested* to do it. Anything can be done if you bring your brain to the table
jessica huang the owner of the shoes stated that this was gift from their mother 2 years ago. Yes, they could’ve bought a new pair but the emotional attachment was probably still there for them.
Grey Ed If people get things restored and cleaned then you have less clothing waste taking thousands to millions of years to decompose. Chemicals like these aren’t that harmful because he’s not using a lot at once and he’s not spilling them onto the ground or anything
Marifer Guillén hmm, my logic is if one were rich and had many expensive shoes, obviously he would just buy some new ones if the old ones were worn out. I wouldn’t repair my shoes like sneakers from Nike even if I am not rich at all.
@@Monthlychore Small repairs and alteration at cobblers for shoes and bags is quite affordable well at least where I live in New Zealand.I will get buckles, stitching, new laces, new soles etc Price ranging from $5 -$30 depending on what needs to be done.I would typically spend $200 + on a pair of shoes so getting alteration so keep for longer is worth it
I’ve had the same pair of black converse since I was 9 (you read that right, my feet are exceptionally tiny), I’m very serious about their upkeep now. Good shoes, kept up really well.
i thought i was the only one who could still wear the same pair of shoes since i was 9 lol. i'm 18 now and i have to buy converse or vans in the kids' section
sayuri same! My mother is the same so I kind of had a warning, now days her big thing is avoiding foot fetishists bc apparently we’ve got that small foot look going lol. So uh... we’ve got hot feet I guess?
