Weapons don’t automatically make a violent person, jagoff. Some people actually have this crucial little thing called self-control. That edgy, simpleminded mentality is part of the problem in this broken society. I have an affinity for all manner of close-quarters weapons, but the only people I’d ever harm are those who prey upon others. In other words, I like swords, knives, and so on, but I’m not some Michael Myers or Jack the Ripper piece of shit coward. Quite the opposite. Stop pigeonholing people for things like this.
Devil tool? The hell are you talking about? Bad people kill other people all the time with all sorts of things, including their bare hands. Talking about stuff like that just isn’t as useful to scare and control people, so it doesn’t get covered as much. You gonna vote to cut off everybody’s hands? Then the scumbags will simply kick you to death. Cut off everybody’s legs too? Then they’ll wriggle around and bite you. Because people who want to hurt others will always find a way to do it. They’ve done it since long before guns existed, and they’ll keep doing it even if you naïve zealots get your wish of taking guns away from law-abiding citizens (so that only people who don’t respect laws will have them-i.e. criminals). It’s a people problem, smart one, not an inanimate object problem. I do agree that there are far too many shootings, but again, removing guns from decent people will only either keep the headlines the same (because most of the violent criminals who make headlines use firearms obtained illegally anyway) or simply change them to something arguably more disturbing, like strangulations. (A slow, agonizing death in which air is violently forced out of the victim until they suffocate? Yeah, I’d rather be shot. At least it’s quick.) Or perhaps acid attacks like the UK has a huge problem with. Or running over whole crowds of people with vehicles. You wanna curb the violence? Talk to the damn media who turns every miserable sack of shit who does something horrible into an overnight celebrity. In a society that encourages attention-seeking at all costs, that’s the absolute perfect way to make monsters out of unhappy people. These damned mass shootings and such weren’t nearly as much of an issue before they became the media’s favorite thing to talk about and before social media conditioned people to seek recognition like a drug. Put the pieces together, dammit. Stop avoiding the real issue out of fear because it’s easier to point the finger at those who have different values.
