ASMR Leather CARVING - Viking Knotwork - REAL TIME

ASMR Leather Carving in real time that I completed recently for a leg armor video with viking / celtic knotwork. I don't do a lot of real time videos, but feel some people may find them useful. There's no dialog except the intro, enjoy.
Also I get so much flack for my nails in my videos that I photoshopped this thumbnail to a fake nail, but the video reveals all and this thumbnail can't hide the truth.

there is the whole genre of people doing skilled work in an ambient setting that is popular and people like me enjoy. It ranges from cooking to carpentery to art/other restoration,you could even put bob ross videos in that same category. Its just relaxing to watch is the point.

Just bought some leather and made a EDC pocket organizer yesterday, I imagine i was recommended this because i watched a few videos about leather stitching to get an idea of what i was doing. Really cool hobby (or profession) and i think i am going to try to design some wallets and other organizers.

Hey Magnus, I tried my first bit of leather carving recently, inspired by yours truly. I did some celtic knotwork on the leather mouthpiece for a drinking horn I'd made, also inspired by you. Your tips, tricks, and instructions really helped out, and it came out better than I could have hoped! Thanks a ton for your inspiration, and may Odin smile upon you!

It is truly amazing just how much you can learn by just sitting quietly and watching . Thankyou for taking the time and the chance on providing such a simple video that shows so much in detail. ive always wondered about the way the hide changes colour along the line as you compress it, I originally thought it was something in your process i just missed. Cheers again for the time taken. P.S screw what your nails looks like they are the hands of a craftsman not some keyboard jockey who has never gotten their hands dirty. :)

What was the “paper” you used for the design to be drawn on the leather? I’m totally hung up on vikingstuff these days and gonna make a costume with a headpiece in leather but never done it before so just asking to learn.

My "over/under" seems to NEVER work out.! There are always a place or even two where I get an over over or under under...and no matter how much rework.... it will not go away! ( where is the angry emoji ?). Still, always fun to watch your work! Even with my shortfall, I still keep drawing the knots. Don't stop....please.

When doing the carving/linework with the swivel knife. Are you pressing really hard? It looks like you are going most of the way through the leather but it might just be how it looks. About how deep do you go in reality? Thanks, looks like an awesome hobby to pick up :)

Finally, something other than western motifs! My big issue is the tight curves. Much practice needed. I also learned from this video about beveling this type of pattern. What beveler are you using here? And have you ever used a push beveler for these designs?
@DarkHorseWorkshop
@DarkHorseWorkshop 2 года назад
Not sure what a push beveler is but I've cheated with a stylus to bevel before. Curves are hard, try rotating your piece while also rotating your swivel knife, it helps. The beveler I use here is either the small or medium beveler I have listed in the description of the video. Send me an email info@darkhorseworkshop.com and I can get back to you when I'm in my shop next just to be sure, but I use both.
