Oh, this video also reminded me of an experiment that was in a college class I took (propably PSY 101 or something like that). Idk the name of the experiment, but they were trying to show how sounds can have an effect on what you see and vice versa: 1) They took a baby that was maybe a year old, and they sat him on a table with all these big rats. These rats were HUGE, but the baby wasn't afraid of them at all! 2) Then, they took away the rats and sat the baby on the same surface, and someone took a cooking pot and banged it on the table really hard. Of course, this made a loud noise, and the baby started crying. 3) They then put the baby back on the table with the rats, and the baby was fine. But then the person started banging the pot again and the baby got scared and started crying again. They did this like two or three more times. 4) For the last time, they brought the baby in and placed him on the surface with the rats, and the baby immediately started crying. They were doing this to show that the baby associated seeing the rats to the loud sounds that scared him, even though the baby had no fear of the rats before he heard that sound. Quite the interesting video I must say. As I too enjoy the topic of psychology from time to time, mostly dealing with the loneliness epidemic. Though I’ve come to find in the last few years that the human mind can turn very dark and depressing at times. Which is not always something I have the energy for. But either way, thank you for sharing so many thought provoking facts and studies. And as always stay well and have a wonderful day! Oh, and Side Note: The Selective attention experiment was interesting, I scored 14 of 15. Though I didn’t see the gorilla exactly, I knew it was something different from the other participants. The key was simply to focus on the background instead of the individual actors and use peripheral vision to follow the action. It would be intresing to see how everyone else did and I’m am quite curious what the test concluded about folks and their attention.

I did the last experiment and I counted 13. In the middle of it, I literally thought "dunno why there's someone dressed as a gorilla there, but who cares, I have to count". I wasn't sure whether they'd been there the whole time or not, though. And I didn't notice them leaving.

About the SELECTIVE ATTENTION TEST: So weirdly i saw the gorilla but it wasn't because somehow i am not affected by selective attention. What i realised are that some biases override others. I already knew the title was selective attention so i was more perceptive than i usually am. That shows 2 things: 1) How easy it is for an experiment to be affected just because it is an experiment (well known fact but harder to fix than many studies make it to be) 2) Although selective attention is a real thing our brain always wants to be right. If you know there will be a right or wrong and possibly a "trap" then it's very likely for almost any experiment to fail. The reason is focus. And that's the last point: Aren't all the experiments mentioned in the video (except the ones with the babies) based on the very specific aspects of human psychology? Why people see authority as the most important thing while other people put morals first? Why some people's belief is stronger than the want to live and not die? I believe, and that's my opinion, that we are capable as humans to develop any of these sides but WE ARE humans. We are meant to survive and build societies and that is why as babies we respect/fear authority and we generalize (rat-sound experiment) to survive. However i believe we have choice. I am a young adult and i feel that i have at this point in my life the ability to choose my faith, beliefs and core values. I can choose my Idols or i can make a choice that i don't want any idols but my self to become one for other people. Choice is ultimately there, not as a kid and not if you are unaware of the ability to choose for too long(because then you may make a choice unconsciously that you can't change). If anyone read all of this thanks for taking the time, feel free to share your opinion.

ahah, for the last experiment, a friend showed me the video like 2 month ago, and i saw absolutely nothing ^^ I was like "whaaat the hell ? It's the same video ? How could I missed that ?" I was watching the video with another friend who is a former rugby champion, and...she saw it ^^. This did not surprised me as she has excellent reflexes / very good attention (and she still plays a lot, so I guess she often has to be very focused. ^-^). Anyway, thanks a lot for this great video !

Searching this should get you there. "サルでも囁けるASMR教室　ASMRの "声" と "音"" I think her ideas are untresting but underdeveloped. Also, its written in japanese so even after translation, some interpretive effort from the reader is required.

There are strong implications for educators and students, definitely for society at large with these things you're noting. I love learning stuff... pretty much anything. I pretty much picked up anything easily from training with Marines to having a 4.0 in university.
