I thought I was not normal because I seemed to be the only person who dislikes Normal People! 😅😂 I love how your fingers make the moth flutter whisper. Some of my top reads of the past year: The Devil’s Breath by Tessa Harris, The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot by Marianne Cronin (the only book that had me crying), The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, Wandering Souls by Cecile Pin, The Storm We Made by Vanessa Chan, How to Care for a Human Girl by Ashley Wurzbacher, The Dinner by Herman Koch. None are fantasy- mostly literary fiction/historical fiction. I’m now a new subscriber 🎉 I liked the one-liner, initial reactions.
This year I defenitely read more than usual and am quite happy about it! I found my new favourite book, "Narcissus and Goldmund" by Herman Hesse, it was wonderful and I recommend it with all my heart!
Following you because we have really similar book taste! I also loved Priory of the Orange Tree and Ninth House. Haven’t read Hell Bent yet but it’s on my shelf!!! My favorite book from 2023 was Hijab Butch Blues, and I’m currently reading The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers :)
Side note: "Noi, i ragazzi dello zoo di Berlino", Italian title of the Film that came out in 1981 based on the the book. In Italy at that time (from mid '70s to mid '80s) heroin addiction was at its peak and 2 generations of youths were affected and wiped out, so the movie made a lot of people aware of the dramatic situation.
i also loveD priory of the orange tree! haven’t read Lockwood & Co but I read his Bartimaeus books as a child and listened to the audiobooks recently and those are so so fun, highly recommend. personal fav books of the year were The Dispossessed by Ursula K Le Guin (altered my worldview), All The Seas of the World by Guy Gavriel Kay (tbh loved everything i read by him this year), A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine (sO so good I rarely read space operas but this was amazing), and Piranesi by Susanna Clarke (whole book felt like a wonderful puzzle that unfolded beautifully as i read) thanks for this vid!!! love the asmr book content ♥️♥️
there was a time (I think from 13-18) where I didn't really read at all... I think I got back into reading when covid hit and I was bored during lockdown xD
I really love these Book ASMR videos. I actually have several of these in my cart. I’m adding Lockwood & Co. my favorite series is for kids, The Overlander Series by Suzanne Collins. Which in my opinion doesn’t get the recognition it deserves like Hunger Games did. Wishing you happiness and a wonderful year of reading 📚Lotta! 💜
@@LottasASMR you’ll have to let me know if you read them and what you think. I first read the series in fourth grade so maybe the nostalgia makes me biased 🤣
Most of your books I haven't heard of 😂 but we read very different genres so it makes sense. I did read Picture of Dorrian Grey though! First classic literature I've read in a long time. I would also give the same review. It was good but not earth shattering. I read 50 books this year which is the most I've ever read. I read mostly horror which I've discovered this year! This year really helped me to develop my reading style!
50 books were my goal for 2023 and it's also the first time I've read so many! Maybe this year I'll also read a bit more horror but I'm easily frightened so this might not be my best idea 😅
Happy new year Lotta! I’m so glad you enjoyed The Picture of Dorian Gray and Carmilla! Picking my favorite book of the year is very difficult, I think I would say Siren Queen or In the Lives of Puppets.
We have so many books in common! A couple of suggestions,if you havent read them yet: First 2 books of Sisters of the Salt trilogy by Erin A. Craig, Nettle and Bone by T. Kingfisher, Go Ask Alice by Anonymous ( was required reading in the US years ago because of the subject matter), The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams (sweet), Molly Molloy and the Angel of Death by Maria Vale (just a fun one), and anything by T.J. Klune (for chuckles and tugs on your heartstrings). I am anxious for the third Alex Stern book (Bardugo) and the sequel to Ordinary Monsters by J.M. Miro. Love your bookish content...I have you to thank for introducing me to Evelyn Hugo! ❤
I have to disagree with you on normal People, I really liked it! also Conversations with friends. I think the author deals in her books with interesting relationships. So its odd, but kinda great. Idk, Geschmäcker sind Unterschiedlich I guess :D And I just started to read seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, its not what I expected but I like it so far, but Im only on page 57 ^^
Ich hab so schiss vor The Priory Of The Orange Tree und Band 2.. Manchmal denke ich mir ich hätte mir beide auf deutsch und nicht auf englisch holen sollen. Dann hätte ich zwar vier Bücher, aber zumindest nicht zwei mit fast jeweil 1000 Seiten
I probably should’ve worded it better or elaborated. The protagonist loudly talks about how they (descendants of the victims of a genocide) should be over it since it was so long ago, which I thought was a little… weird, especially because the narrative never rally calls her out for it
