Hi friends, thanks for watching! What your favorite handheld game of all time? Big thanks to sponsor INTO THE AM for the beautiful graphic tee I'm wearing, and for being such stalwart supporters of my content! You can save 10% on your own elevated everyday apparel at bit.ly/INTOTHEAM-theASMRnerd
bro I never would have thought I’d be 20 minutes deep in an ASMR video. The internet really has stuff for everyone. I’ve been collecting gameboy games with my partner and we just picked up a copy of the LOZlinks awakening (not the dx version) and a copy of conkers pocket tales. Love the content friend. Nice collection
I've said this before but I will say it again. The 1st video I ever watched with you, was the one where u repaired your pokemon gameboy.. those were the good old days! I wish you would do something like that again. That video got me Into ASMR .. all I did was type in "whisper videos"
As an aside, you can actually charge the battery in a gen 1 cartridge by plugging it into your Gameboy, turning it on, and then leaving it on the main menu for about a week. My saves that I made back in 2019-2020 (somewhere in there, I don't remember the exact date) on a Blue and Yellow cartridge with dead batteries are still playable as of Feb 2023 after about 2 weeks of charging each. This doesn't work on gen 2 and 3 cartridges (and presumably onwards, as I only have gold/silver/emerald to test with) because of the additional battery that manages the weather and clock-based systems. From my experience it's about a 1 to 1 ratio with gen 2, IE if you let it charge for an hour, you get an hour of battery life, so theoretically maybe if you left it on the charger for a year, who knows? 😆
Holy shit, finally a video where tapping is more prominent, i love it. Have been hoping for the return for such a video for ages, thanks. Also so many videos back to back is awesome
Oh gosh I had the same floppy disk experience with Gen 2. In elementary school I had a friend who gave me a Japanese version of Silver on a floppy disk. The save didn't work properly, and the file I could play had a gyarados that still new splash. Good memories.
This is incredible! Although I wasn't born for it, the gb and gba libraries were my first ever introduction to gaming thanks to my brother not wanting his old gaming stuff!
As you were talking about pokemon and the wellspring of joy I began daydreaming about dragon warrior 1&2 and 3 and how much time I spent playing those on my game boy and lo and behold, those are the next you mention. We had very similar taste growing up it seems.
I remember in 1986 being in middle school and playing Dragon Warrior with my brother and friend after school. Relatively simple but highly addictive. And even though the graphics were comically pixilated it somehow managed to strike somber and sometimes noble tones in part due to the music. Or maybe I was just a kid. :P
love the pokemon content in the preview, excited to watch! My most treasured gameboy game is Links awakening for the original gameboy. Thanks for the good sleep!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 😄 Your NES game collection video is one of the ones that I keep coming back to and that finally convinced me to do one of these, so thank you so much!!
When i was born my brother got a gameboy color. Then when i got little older he bought one off a friend for me with pokemon blue as a present. But there was one game we owned that i have never met someone else who owned another copy. It was Dukes of Hazard i believe fot gbc and it was terrible.
That's crazy the battery in your Dragon Quest game still works wow impressive. EDIT is that a Dreamcast controller on a stand in the background? Love that! 😄
Yeah I really didn't expect it! What's even crazier is that I fired up my Pokémon Blue cartridge and even though the old save data was corrupted, the battery still holds a charge and will save new games! I was shocked haha. And YES, that's a Dreamcast controller on top of a Pokémon shoebox! I never had a Dreamcast back in the day, but I always had a fascination with it, and I managed to get one complete with controllers and VMU off Facebook Marketplace for a good price!
I remember playing Pokémon Red as a kid. So many memories. I got my 5 year old into Pokémon last year with the Switch and let’s go Pikachu. Then we got through Shield and now starting Scarlet. He’s addicted and I love that I came back to the games after all these years. Commented twice for reasons.
I still have the old GameBoy Color with a few Pokemon editions. Though I tend to play them with the GameBoy Advanced SP with backlight, makes it easier to play in the dark.
My real beginning into Pokémon was with diamond and Pearl yet my first game was gold. I had to go back and start even further back and it was well worth it!
Great collection Nick! As for the future of Pokemon, I hope Nintendo realizes there are better ways to handle the video games, than releasing them on a yearly basis.
Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons are totally different and both are worth playing imo. Supposedly there was going to be a 3rd Oracles game but they realized developing 3 games in parallel was madness lol. I loved those games as a kid but never finished them so I’m excited to revisit them when they come to Switch Online.
I have to ask, what are your first gen starters picks nad your 2nd gen starter pics. I dont know why but I was youg and I loved fire type, I beat Johto an Kanto with Typloshion. so yeah TYplosion is my absolute favouire pokemon ever.
