Regarding the money your brother sent to your mother, the note with Ekaton on it is Greek. The rest are Turkish notes (it does say Turk lirasi on them which stands for Turkish lira).
I love your show and tell videos and your thrift store purchases. their so interesting and really give an insight into American history/culture. love your channel x
So I'm pretty sure those bills you said "must not be worth very much" are Turkish Lira, which have an exchange rate of 1 LIRA --> .28 CENTS. You have 25,000 LIRA there, which works out to like $7,000 USD. You should probably look in to that.
@@alexanderacostaosorio it is old turkish lira, so it is essentially worthless. The old nates before 2005 went up into the millions 1 new turkish lira is worth 1 million old turkish lira
Thanks for showing us your mothers coin collection. Important Note: Any U.S, COINS made before 1965 or 1964 are pure silver "quarters, half dollars and silver dollars, Morgan silver dollars." An easy way to determine if a coin is NOT pure silver is by turning the coin on it's edge.if there is bronze color around the coins edge the coin was made after 1964 or 65. These coins contain nichol and bronze. Question: I have several 2 dollar bills. They were made in the 1930's and have red print on their front. Are these bills worth more than two dollars? Very good video! You have a really calming whispering voice,. I subbed your channel. Thank you
I have a bunch of coins too. A lot of the stuff you have as well, but also steel pennies from WW2, a walking liberty half dollar, an indian head penny that was probably run over by a train, a british penny from the 1880's, and aluminium coins from itay in the 60's I also had a nice old silver king george the 6th from england in 1880's i think, but i lost it unfortunately. Interesting thing about some of them. Quarters minted before 1964 are 90% silver as well as all mercury dimes, as well as dimes between 1946 - 1964.

I dont know what its better, the video and the whispers or the ironic way you answers the hateful coments
Your video is amazing! Don't let people bring you down with dislikes I get dislikes on my videos all the time! So your videos are amazing so don't ever forget that😊
most nickels from 1942 and all nickels from 1943 to 1945 are war nickels which contain a small amount of silver, they have more value than other just regular nickels because of the silver content another way to tell is they have a large letter above the building on the back whether its a S,D,or P. just thought you should know
Those mercury dimes *are* actually called liberty dimes. The person on the dime is not mercury but a depiction of “Liberty”. The confusion is from the wings on her head. Mercury is known for having wings on his helmet.
coins made before 1965 are silver, except pennies they were made of bronze until the Indian penny was made I think and then pure copper in 1909 then they stopped using copper in 1983
Awesome video. I collect some currency. Nothing like what you have. I have a few Buffalo nickels, a bunch of wheat pennies, and I have one Indian Head penny from 1880!
akseli03 wheat. a more proper name is wheat backs. the design was adopted on the US "penny" in 1909. the proper name for a "penny" in the US is the one cent piece as we do not have an official "penny".
AvSMR they are basically just normally money. All it means is it’s from before our money became a fiat currency, so the bill is a stand in for actual silver.
"Out of many, one", is referencing the many sovereign states becoming one country. Nothing to do with immigration. America wasn't even a country for immigrants until the early twentieth century when a Jewish playwrite coined the term "melting pot" to describe the US and wrote a play on it to push the idea of increased immigration. It took many decades for it to catch on. It's just a country that founded itself to get away from rich aristocracy and become a republic with free thinking and free practice of worship of God.
Henrik Lindberg Those bills look very very similar to the current one dollar bill in the US. there are only a few minor differences, perhaps you saw a newer one dollar bill.
It's called coin collecting.... this money is worth much more than what it's face value is. If she spent it, she would not only lose something that has been passed down in her family, she would lose much more money than what you can see. (face value)
