My Master’s dissertation is due the day after tomorrow so I cannot WAIT to purchase some of these books once I’m free! Summer of reading, perfect timing Mauve ✨

Gorgeous video as usual! Great reccs, I adore Sagan and Cusk and I'm adding The Virgins to my list. A couple books that i would recommend for summer are 'Small Bodies of Water' by Nina Mingya Powles, a collection of essays/memoir about her childhood in different places. Full of descriptions about swimming, water, and coastlines. Also 'Three Summers' by Margarita Liberaki, a beautiful coming of age novel following 3 sisters growing up in the countryside near Athens.

I loved Mrs Caliban! I read it at the cabin last summer.

Hello Mauve, I’m French but never read any books by Françoise Sagan so far. Maybe one day, who knows? Currently, I’m reading "The House of Mirth" by Edith Wharton and it's a great novel! hi mauve! both of these books are quite different but the great Gatsby and convenience store woman are very good and not too long books which kind of whisk you away to your own little world and are good in the summer :)

A perfect little weird, but fun boom serious to read is either the lockdown series, it gets a little confusing the deeper you go in but great in the first few books, and Charles higson the fallen series.

I love the suggestions also how you don’t see all of your face makes it all mysterious.

I can’t find your video where you recommended the novel Cold Enough for Snow by Jessica Au but I wanted to tell you how much I’m loving it. What a beautiful, unique story. I’m almost finished with it and just now discovered on page 83 the word “mauve.” Did you notice that? ❤️ I love your book hauls. You’re the best on RU-vid. I’ve ordered so many books you’ve discussed.

I am totally sold on getting Hot Milk but also, I wanted to know which was your favorite? I was also pretty intrigued by Mrs Caliban -in part bc I might be (erroneously?) projecting a little Kafka into the green frog-man. Plus "a perfect novel" isn't something The New Yorker throws around casually. Last I LOVED the side-notes I'll call them... It felt like you broke the forth wall (but that doesn't make any sense bc you're already talking to us :P). It happens at 16:16 for example. So good. Totally going to try to remember to try my hand at that! 🤍

have you ever read anything by Mariana Enriquez? I’m reading “las cosas que perdimos en el fuego” (my first novel I’m reading in Spanish-I learned Spanish in my twenties like you!) and it’s so good, I would highly recommend if you haven’t read! As a non-native speaker who learned Spanish from a non-argentine I find the Argentine vernacular (colloquialisms?) to be super interesting also
