In this stunning book, we whisper our way through Japan's history through the perspective of the samurai, global history's famous warriors of bushido. A strict code of honour and gentlemanly warfare saw this warrior class clash constantly throughout Japan's history - with many rising through the ranks to become powerful and influential enough to change the face of the country through war, politics and strict edicts.
This second part covers the latter part of the unification of Japan, with the decline of the once temperate, diplomatic Hideyoshi, descending into despotism - to be succeeded by the last of the three great generals, Ieyasu, into leading Japan into a period of relative peace - the Edo period of Japan. Discover how strict edicts were passed down to the populace of Japan, creating an entrenched caste system that would last for hundreds of years.
This wonderfully presented books also includes some stunning artwork, photography and reenactments. This is personally one of my favourite historical subjects and locations so I am delighted to relax/focus/soothe you through this fascinating historical lens.
