Hello everyone!! This video is about a very real therapeutic technique called the Wilbarger Protocol - I am not actually qualified/trained/anything like that - so if this is something you'd like to try IRL, I'd definitely talk to your doctor or an OT who can tell you exactly what you're supposed to be doing for whatever you're trying to achieve, because this technique, as far as I know, can be utilized for quite a few different reasons! :)
I was super fascinated when I came across this via a link on the Therapy Shoppe (video on that here: • ASMR with Sensory & Th... andddd here: • ASMR | 3 Sensory Calmi... ) and honestly it sounded like something that might be useful for me too!!!
Everything I read online about the Protocol talked a lot about working on tactile defensiveness, sensitivity to touch, and also things like sensory/emotional regulating, and even difficulty transitioning between activities!! That last one really caught my attention personally, ha! So, anyway, I ended up reading a lot about it and thought it would actually make for a very nice ASMR video, with a touch of educational flair? :D
I also incorporated the joint compressions part of the protocol, and also slowed everything down so that this video wouldn't only be 3 minutes long... :)
Here is just one of the articles I ended up clicking on to read about it in case anyone is interested, or just google the Wilbarger Protocol of course hehe
sensoryprocessingdisorderpare...
Let me know what you think!! Maybe we can do a video on it where I do this on Ben (or vice versa) so you can see it IRL too!
Also don't make fun of me looking like an egg my hair was dirty ok

Thank you for what you do!! It may be a bit out of place to ask, but do adults kind of I'm not sure "qualify" to do OT treatments? I've had very extreme sensory processing issues since I was very young. I'm not sure if it's still possible to help now that I'm somewhat older.
@ellatopham1443
@ellatopham1443 Год назад
@@Defirence oh my goodness I am so sorry for only replying now! Yes, you definitely qualify. There is a lot of emergung research around the use of sensory integration practice with adults. Even if the sensory systems cannot be fully integrated as an adult, the integration techniques used will lessen the impact of the sensory processing difficulties on your ability to move through multisensory environments. :)

ALSO!!!!! The sensory brushes you're using are pretty affordable and can be used to help with trichotillomania and maybe dermotillomania (in order hair-picking disorder and skin-picking disorder, google the, and ask a doctor if it sounds like you) and also those in neurtdivergent circles that pick at themselves without that being a full disorder, but rather as a stim. Basically I might have trich. might just be autistic but those brushes stopped me from touching my hair for a weekend when a friend put one in my hands. (I ended up going back to the hair-picking when I came home from that event, however I just last week seemed to clear myself of hair-picking so you also gotta commit to keeping the brush in your hands, and believing that quitting is possible.
@emmalk13
@emmalk13 Год назад
I relate to this. I don't believe ive ever touched one of these brushes, but just looking at them lightly triggers one of my extremely few sensitivities. thats concerning 😂, but the brushing sounds so good and the video is so nice 🥺. i think I would HATE this. which is so interesting to learn but also comforting to have learned in such a way, rather than if I was confronted at an office with it.
@blankness8
@blankness8 Год назад
This comment made me realize I have a skin picking issue. I never thought about it as an issue because "It can't be a disorder" but it is definitely a problem that I've just never thought about because it seemed so normal to me. Although my skin is fucked up beyond belief. But thanks for this, seriously.
