You know what I've realized on a replay of this? There's no way the butler had time to go to the dining room and get her breakfast together. Which probably means he knows her patterns and can assume what she'll want to eat based on whatever day it is. Which is totally something a yandere would do in this situation. That's really good attention to detail! ^^ There are so many "in plain sight" ("in plain hearing"?) clues in this whole scenario. (Another one I can think of off the top of my head is mentioning that the library's got new books and the studio has new supplies. Why make it a point to mention that if the mistress could come and go freely?) Good job with that, it can be hard to throw subtle clues into a narrative.

For the character profile and discussion, I described the butler as just being someone the mistress confided in after some problems with her ex-bf. Turns out she shouldn't have done that, since the butler took it to mean "I have to protect her from everyone and everything." in the worst kind of way. (While falling in love with her because she confided in him to begin with). IDK if Cardlin decided that the butler had served the family or if he's just a friend, but either way, the character is/was creepy.

ifeel like if he had been like a family butler, that implies that he'd been in their service for enough time for the mistress to feel comfortable around him, if he was just a friend, then you have to wonder why he decided to adopt a butler persona and i think the latter of the two is a lot creepier, tbh seriously tho this character is super interesting mentally, like how fucked up you gotta be to interpret an act of someone coming to you for comfort as an okay to steal them away from everything, ya know?

He's pretty messed up! I know for me that's part of the appeal of a yandere character. I like that they don't follow logic. ("Friend needs comfort, I assure her things are OK and then move forward while supporting her" vs "Time to kindap the mistress and control her life because that's what needs to be done"). It's also a bit of a challenge to find something that the yandere can use for motivation. (In this character's case, he sees the world as being full of enemies after the mistress's talk. What's the best way to combat this? Control her and insist that she's afraid of loving him; instead of her just being afraid of him because he's over here doing all this creepy stuff).

see i don't generally like yandere characters, because they're usually self-entitled crazy assholes, the first yandere-ish type story i ever read was, "Dear Abby" on reddit nosleep and that shit straight fucked me up, fam, i didn't talk to guys for like a week cause i was so freaked out by even the possibility of a guy like that actually existing, ya know? with this, the butler's attempts to keep this person safe (however misplaced his efforts are) feel genuine, like he truly believes this is the best course of action. i'm intrigued by this character, but not 100% uncomfortable (i.e. Dear Abby), closer to like 70-80%, depending on which version of events that i mentioned you interpret (granted, that goes up to a solid 90% as soon as the butler drugs her, but i digress)

All of you saying you feel like Ciel. Ciel wouldn't let Michealis do this, nor would Sebastian want to drug him. Sebastian doesn't like Ciel and only worked for him for his soul. Sebastian was also uber pissed when Ciel turned into a demon. Ciel was just a little shit who had to watch his parents burn in front of him and then was almost sacrificed.

while we understand it, humans have a habit of putting things they don't understand into a simple category. the case if Sebastian and ciel is no different. Sebastian and cel are very "close" both physically and mentally because of their contact, position and the way you can never see one without the other ( mostly due to ciel's slight incompetence and Sebastian's status) so its only natural for humans to assume " oh, they seem so close, and trust each other with everything... almost like a loving relationship" People ship ciel and Sebastian, because they don't understand that Sebastian and ciel are more then lovers, they are connected, whether due to the contract or ciel's need for Sebastian ( as a demon) that people draw them together in the only way humans know how, love and a relationship. That type of companionship can only come from love ( in the human brain) thats why people ship ciel and Sebastian.

And about the shipping thing people don't ship them because they think that they love eachother and are very close. They ship them because they think they would make a good pair because they already have a some type of bond. Sebastian has said that he doesn't mind being a butler
