They tried to make a GoT RPG and it was awful and it seemed they just kinda gave up after that (except for Telltale since they need all the things). It's a real shame, since it's not because the actual show/books couldn't make an awesome game, in fact it's practically served on a silver platter, just that the creators of that RPG made a shit game.

Bethesda actually got a contract for a ASOIF game before Skyrim, but they declined

I actually liked the GoT RPG. It felt clunky and wasn't that amazing, but it had a nice story and wasn't that bad. Honestly, I think if they had a sequel it could end up well. I mean look at Witcher 1. That game was god awful compared to Witcher 2 and especially Witcher 3.

Typical Hollywoodization requires evil beings to look ugly, so I guess D&D thought they were doing us a favour by dumbing it down for the viewers. They don't appear to have the same sort of mysterious aura in the show that I'd imagined while reading the books.

I think Daenerys is the fire and the ice are the white walkers. I forgot about her visions in the house of the undying. That actually adds to my theory I think the snow on the throne could represent Westeros(kings landing even) Being taken by the others. My theory is that Daenerys is Azor Ahia and her dragons are the "flaming sword" She'll reclaim Westeros after the white walkers take over completely. On the bitter sweet ending I think most character besides Dani will be killed off and since Daenerys really isn't a fan favorite it'll suck for some people having her end up being the hero of a song of fire and ice.

lightshadow121 Idk about her not being a fan favorite, shes definitely up there. I was kind of on board with that theory until jon snow's death and Resurrection. Killing off a character is a big deal, especially in game of thrones. It seems unlikely that he got raised from the dead just to play a minor role in things to come. I don't think she'll get there after the white walkers have already taken over. It doesn't seem like she'll be staying in slaver's bay much longer consider that ships are going to her right now. Idk, jon representing the ice part of the song which maybe fights daenerys or helps her push back the white walkers makes more sense to me.

thekingof300 Or walkers start showing up in the east like they supposedly did in the past and Daenerys pushes them back(Azor Ahia) and Jon and the North alliance pushes them back in Westeros(the last hero) or maybe Jon loses the final stand off against the others and is forced to flee to Essos and joins up with Dany. Maybe becoming a head of the dragon in the process. History does repeat itself we just don't know the other heads of the dragon. Idk maybe Daenerys is killed off and puts my theory to shame. Still alot of time till I think that's even gunna happen if it does at all

Personally it would be a great ending & a sad ending, cause I like Dany and would love to see her on the throne even if it's temporary.

+SenpaiGuild Probably a budget problem, they're a TV show after all so their budget isn't as high as with a movie. The battle at the Fist of the First Men was in season 2, so they cut big battles, just like the Battle at the Green Fork in Season 1. Hardhome was Season 5, the budget is probably way bigger than in Season 1 or 2

Imagine being shown basically a light weight version of what is sure to be the ending of the show, and still have six seasons left. The narrative they've built and the pacing of the show is really what seperates it from the rest.

Nah, White Walkers in the show’s story were nothing but a bunch of blue-balls. They weren’t even a real threat. All it takes is some little ninja-girl to beat them. Just get a half-trained Faceless Man and BAM! War’s over.

@@rayclawicefire2503 the night queen also referred to as the corpse queen was an alleged consort of the night king, her appearance such as skin as pale as the moon, white hair and blue as starlight led people to believe she was an other. Maesters argue she was a daughter of King Barrow who was himself associated with kings and burials.

They're not zombies though, they are a different humanoid race. They just had the power of necromancy to raise other dead things as zombies. Also, a complete disappointment in the GoT show as it turned out. I hope they're going to have more complex motives in the books.

In the books the Night King is not the leader of the White Walkers as far as we know, he was a leader of the nights watch who started his own kingdom and was killed. Legends say he may have been a White Walker but we don't know for sure. Same with his wife.

In the books the Night King is a historical figure, not necessarily a current day leader of the Others, though we know little about them so far so who knows.

They could be two different persons with the same title, like the many Kings-Beyond-the-Wall

+Brian Maleska in the history and lore segments of the show, the Night's King we know in the books is documented. The Night King we known in the show is likely the original Other, weather the books do something similar to this isn't known rn(tho there is evidence of a Great Other). But it is most likely a title given to the show's "Great Other" that's what I prefer to call him since that's more likely what he is. The Night's King is just a title.

+Eddie LM In addition to this, we *know* that there is a shit ton of unreliable narration in this story, and we know from old European and Asian cartography, that middle age people don't know shit about maps. Essos might very well curve upwards beyond Asshai, or even somewhere around the Dothraki sea. After all, there is little to none civilization in many parts of Essos, and only handful of westerosi have ever explored the continent. Also, I can't figure out where the equator is in planetos. There are dark skinned people in the summer isles, so if we take our world as an example, that must mean a warmer, sunnier climate can be found to the south. It would seem that Dorne is like Spain/Morocco, with The Reach and the Westerlands bein France, the Riverlands Germany, the North Scandinavia and so on, but that would place the equator a good distance south of Dorne, and that would mean that Planetos is something like 2½-3 times the length of Westeros, and naturally the same width, since it's a globe. We have absolutely no idea what's south of Dorne, and what's west of the Iron Islands, as well as what's north of the lands of always winter. To make matters even worse, I just remembered that the white walker crib is in permafrost, and had lots of aurora borealis, meaning that that could easily be the actual north pole of Planetos. That would place Westeros and Essos even further north, and mean that there is even more unexplored space south of Dorne. Fuck man, GRRM needs to get his geography together.

They are similar heroes from the same event, and might be based on the same character from long ago, or they both might also be myths based on some vaguely related ancient event. Hard to say at this point.

Yes they were, but it was a secondary name, the primary name was "Others"

In the book they are primarily called the Others but also called the White Walkers sometimes. In the show they decided to just go with the White Walkers, probably because the Others was a name used on the show Lost.

+Ashutosh Akella In Westeros the hero was simply known as "The Last Hero", in the far east they had a similar story about a great hero, and then the Red God followers gave him the name Azor Ahai. So it's basically the same character, a last hero who rises, unifies mankind and drives back the Others. But his name is different in other places.

We don't know for sure yet, but it's possible East essos is connected to Westeros through the frozen north (lands of always winter). So the Others may have been able to march east during the war.

I heard somewhere that Martin confirmed his world is indeed round, therefore it's not impossible that creatures in the West could somehow manage to reach the far East.

Another thing that doesnt make sense: why a war machine created to exterminate man just retreat in the deep north and do nothing for thousands of year,allowing humans to grow in numbers.... not the best strategy....

Brian Mcbrian Well if they were defeated in battle, like the legends claim, they would have lost many of their people. Maybe it was them who needed the time to replenish their numbers. Or maybe they signed a peace treaty that we don't know about, and now feel that humans have broken it for some reason (like maybe wildlings living past the wall, meaning the wall was a territorial border)

But the children created the night king because they were in a very bad situation in he war.... creating a weapon who needs hundreds of years to reproduce doesnt seem very effective. Maybe its the tv show who didnt handle it well. Or Maybe the children turned on their creation, weaken it but not able to destroy it. The wall seem mor like a protection from them than a border, isnt coldhand saying that some magic prevent him from going south of the wall in the books?

+Eddie LM if the wall was located at the lands of always winter nobody could defend it. It'll be too cold up there. The lands of always winter are large and the wall would take longer to build and would need larger numbers to even guard it. Getting regular supplies and recruits would take too long as the wall is so far away from the nearest territory of the north.

The location of the wall is economically the best place because it is the thinnest part of the continent so it would make sense

+j Masonn in the books there is no Night King from the show. In the books he was the Night's King, an ancient traitor of the nights watch. He is a figure of history, not the leader of the White Walkers.

So far the books have not revealed where the Others came from, but it will probably be the same as the show, created by the Children of the Forest.
