Just sharing my ideas one of my favorite book series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin. This video may contain spoilers for those of you who are not up to date with the series. That goes for the HBO show and the books.
I'm just speculating and guessing on some ideas that I have on how future events will transpire in the series. Keep in mind however, I know nothing.

@@dutchvanderlinde5004 Martin does not seem like the type of man to hand over his magnum opus to Disney. Plus HBO has a firm grasp on visual media rights to the series. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who would be suitable to continue the series.

Stygai,sounds suspiciously similar to Stygia from Robert E.Howard's Conan the Barbarian's Hybeorean universe. Stygia it's a kingdom ruled by Sorcerer-Kings,who worship the Snake God and do all types of creepy black magic,human sacrifices etc. Keep in mind,Howard and Lovecraft were friends and Howard contributed to the Lovecraft Mythos.

Basically, Martin created a fantasy world that beats any other created, and then forced us to spend the entire saga traversing its most uninteresting locations. None of the truly interesting places have been visited. Asshai. The God's Eye. The land of always winter. Sothoryos. Stygai. Yi Ti. The Five Forts. Qohor. I want to meet Moonsingers and visit the Church of the Starry Wisdom.

This is really good lore, and to think that the long night might've began in the East. And yet everyone is so fixated on Westoros. If there are indeed gods of that caliber like in Lovecraft, then the state of the world could be left open ended if left to the devices of them even if the curtains closed on our characters and their roles. It's actually something pretty deep to think about. You spend years interested in the characters and for good reason, but they're so insignificant to the powers that be. It's a shame this stuff hasn't been brought up in the show, maybe the insignificance of it all, but not this rich lore. Thanks for the video, please keep them coming.

@@Malkether I don't think so, George gets way too much praise, he still hasn't even finished WoW and that's not even the final book. D&D deserve the backlash but George is honestly, just as much to blame for not writing the story so they had something to follow when that was supposed to be the whole point. I just don't see a reason to care about prequels and backstories when the end of the show is very likely the only ending we're ever going to see. Even if George finishes the book in 2033 he's not a White Walker, he's not gonna have 45 years to maybe write another book if he feels like it.

"Yet the Great Empire of the Dawn was not reborne, for the restored world is a broken place where every tribe of men went its own way, fearfull of all the others." There is, here, the meaning of the entire World of Ice and Fire!
@SilveryRow
@SilveryRow 7 лет назад
Learning more about Yiti is great, I'm just not sure what the conclusion was... It seemed like you said the cause of the Great Empire's fall was the black stone, but that's based on a supposition that it fell when the God-on-Earth left. Doesn't it seem more logical (should this empire have even have existed and not just been a legend created to explain the awesome ruins) that the lack of the God-Emperor led to the civilization slowly degrading? As if he had exerted some unknown force to keep his empire prosperous and united. After he left, the people began acting more and more like regular nobles, then the Bloodstone Emperor - affected by the black stone, as you said - led them down a darker path.

The Bone Mountains alone acts as the Himalayas, the Five forts as the Great Wall, the Jogos Nhai as the Mongols, Leng Island as Japan/Taiwan, and even the romance of the three kingdoms legend also has an equivalent in the World of Ice and Fire.

I am so fascinated by these references in ASOIAF, and want more information, but I kind of think it is beyond the scope of the story being told, and I wonder if our author won't ultimately leave those places and their secrets a mystery for us to ponder forever. Or is it possible that as the story draws to a close, things will get super weird and fantastical? I have my doubts that there are enough chapters left to make that transition in a way that feels natural.

Bookened walls, from bookend lands, with bookend areas, with the most info on bookend long nights/lion of nights, with bookened Night's Kings/Bloodstone Emperors, with bookened prophecies [Azor/The Prince], and literally bookend chapters of The World of Ice and Fire. The Long Night is chapter 4. Yi Ti is the 4th from the last chapter. (Or 4th/4th from the last sections. I have the audiobook so it doesn't actually say chapters.) So, did the others originally fall at the five forts and that's why the stuff on the Wall Sam finds isn't adding up? The night's king is a confused legend of Bloodstone emperor? It could be the opposite, but being as large as the forts are it makes sense they were the first wall no matter what direction the threat was or what type of wight the threat was. Did two seperate of the same type of Others fall leagues apart? Did two seperate of two different types of Others fall leagues apart? So, bookend wights? Bookend threats? A Song of Bookends....js Or at least there's a chance the lands of always winter makes them bookened, if not wrap around and connect to Essos from the south. A land of always summer. A land with a different type of Other.

you´re forgetting the eerie Yeen ruins at Sothoryos, the unnamed Ullos ruins nearby to unknown Ulthos, the forbidden ruins of inner Leng with their subterranean links with the Old Ones. and Carcossa at the very far-east along with the high sorcerer-emperor claiming be the 69 Yellow Emperor of Yi Ti in the exile (something quite related with Chambers book "The Yellow King" a forerunner of Lovecraft himself), alongside the other pieces of the theory, though you really get the best key-pieces of it still being K´Dath at the Gray Waste, Stygai ruins at the heart of Shadow Lands, and of course Asshai city too, being perhaps the original capital city of the Dawn Empire until the Bloodstone Emperor and the falling of the Long Night. For sure, K´Dath was the starting point where the main menance that eventually finished the Dawn Empire into the Golden Yi Ti Empire as a mere shadow of their former success and splendor, because indeed both K´Dath and Asshai kept together claiming being both the only one very first city ever built by humans, and both cities worship dreadfull cults, though Asshai is quite fairily well known, and K´Dath doesn´t, and the latter one has a feared status pretty much as the very unknown Stygai or Yeen too, the dreadfull nature of all of them couldn´t be just a mere coincidence!

Its also possible the stone itself is the source of magic. Then in Assai its not just that "no magic is forbidden" but that "all magic is possible." Dragons are often used in areas which also have the stone, so they could be creatures that evolved to metabolize it, essentially making them walking 'nukes.' This would explain the curse of Harrenhall, which suffers similar problems as Assai. Then magic didn't "disappear in Westeros because it went away completely," but instead it was mostly concentrated in one area, like a "Devil's Cradle" at the city level. Magic came back when the red meteor hit the land, sending particles into the air, raising the background magic radiation high enough to make small acts accessible around the world again. Then, the emperor of Yi Ti worships the stone because of the power it grants him.

Damn I've been looking for this video through my other subscriptions not remembering which GOT content creator made this video. I love the reference connections to HP lovecrat, I hope your comic next year gets very lovecraftian. The art looks great and with the blending of organic and mechanic, that can definitely be a gateway to the path of madness

I watch your videos and listen to your theories. I have never read Tolkien books or the song of ice and fire or Dune but I can't wait to finish my exams and start reading all those great fantasy books. Thanks for your videos that introduced them to me...

I think that that black stone is actually the meteor used to create dawn, also that the bloodstone emperor is azor ahai and his sister nyssa nyssa, and he killed her to end the long night. If you think about it, generations of caos with beast coming from the east are what the long night was in essos. Also that house Dayne are descendents from the empire and that's why we don't know their phrase
