Asparagus Bed Preparation 

I have asparagus seeds, not the crown. Is it still okay right now to start seeds? I live in Knoxville Tennessee Zone 7. If so would you sell them directly into the ground or start them in pots? Are they considered a root crop or an above-ground crop? I ask this as I plant by the Farmers Almanac planting guide oh, so I know if it's a root or above ground crop planting day.

I am wanting to plant asparagus in a 4'x16' raised bed made with cinder blocks 16" deep and was going to roto till about two 5 gallon buckets of river sand into the bed and wanted to know if this is recommended.

can you tell me what is the productivity of one root asparagus??????
