This seems really nice if you don't like the tachi. its nicer having a stripped down board without all the wifi, built in rgb. Just a good foundation of connectivity.

It's nice to see Asrock adding QoL features like BIOS flashback to their boards finally. Also I understood the engineers erring on the side of caution at first but chipset fans for 14W struck me as excessive. There is enough airflow in most PC's to dissipate that much heat without any active cooling. I could see including the fans on mATX and ITX MoBo's and a few ATX boards so people had the choice but it is just another point of failure and I built my PC with more than enough airflow that I don't need it. I will certainly be looking for a fanless motherboard for my next build.

A fanless design was a heavy factor in an x570 purchase for me. I did not want more points of failure, and I wanted peace of mind. Thus far, the Asus Dark Hero has allowed for both, but this would have been a contender around December '20.

Openended slots should be standard on all boards. I know they are worried about power draw, but its so nice to have.

I have not bought a mobo with a fan on it for about a decade. Never again. this is a great option.

@3:59 you say that the top m.2 slot is directly connected to the chip. But it is directly connected to the cpu.

I still don't get the whole stigma of the Fan on the original X570 boards. It's usually not on, and when it does spin up it's quieter than any other fan, pump, or harddrive in a PC. I've tested mine at full speed and it's barely audible.

Could you take a look at the ASRock X570 Creator and ASUS ProArt X570 Creator motherboards? What's interesting about those is that they have Thunderbolt support onboard. It would be interesting to see how well the Thunderbolt support is on those AMD boards.

If you're rocking a Ryzen 4000/5000 APU, just get a B450/470/550 because that APU doesnt support PCIe 4.0

Older X570 chipsets now have new firmware/bios to enable 0rpm fan on the chipset, this is not a new feature, X570 and X570S chipset are identical.

Man, I don't understand why more of manufacturers won't have open ended pcie slots. Specially for using these as home servers. You can stick a cheap GPU on those x1 slot and have rest of the slots available for other hardware. This is a fantastic feature!

Rockin a X570 since Launch, I don't even think my Chipset fan even has turned on least not to my knowledge, but I have a Coolermaster 500P Mesh case.

I also have an ASRock motherboard, a B450 HDV Rel 4.0 of $60 :) It supports all Ryzen Families, the 1000; 2000(G); 3000(G); 4000G and 5000(G). I'm so happy with all those possibilities of I expect especially 65W CPUs, due to its 6 Power Phase design and 4-pin CPU plug. Since May 2019 I run it with a Ryzen 3 2200G of $97 :) It has support for VGA; DVI-D; HDMI; 4 SATA-3 connectors; 1 Ultra M.2 (PCIe Gen3 x4 & SATA3); 2 memory slots 3200 MHz; 1 PCIe 2.0 x1 and 1 PCIe 3.0 x16; 4 x USB 3.1; 2 x USB 2.0; 1 Gbps Etnernet and one PS/2 connector for my ancient Logitech mouse :) I run it with Ubuntu 21.04 on OpenZFS 2.0. It has 3 datapools; one on the 512GB SP nvme-SSD (3400/2300 MB/s); another on 2 striped 500 GB HDD partitions with a 95GB SSD cache and log and the last one on a 500 GB HDD Partition with a 33GB SSD cache and log. The hardware; a 500GB HDD; a 1 TB HDD both with ~8 power-on years and a 128 GB sata-SSD as cache. Note that >98% of all disk IO is served from memory cache or SSD cache. I intend to upgrade the CPU to a 4600G or 5600G in 1 or 2 years, as soon as those prices drop to around $175.

hey wendell can you please also make a request to EVGA to sample their upcoming AMD motherboard(s)? i think they would probably sample you one for review given their good nature, and general positive attitude Not so much for their really expensive overclocking model, but more like all their other models such as FTW3 etc. it would just be nice to find out about their io, and the iommu gouping, other compatibility details etc. many thanks

On the subject of RAM, i can confirm that the APUs can hit much higher frequencies with 1:1:1 I have two 4650G and a 4750GE, and they can all hit 3966MT/s on a cheap B450 board 3600 and 3700x can only hit 3800 with that same kit of 32GB, on X470 the 4650G can hit 4200, but not the 4750GE, guessing it has to do with its 35w TDP. Same x470 motherboard the 3950x can only hit 3933, but it didnt seem stable Unlike the CPU, the GPU on those APUs seems REALLY sensitive to the RAM bandwidth

Sorry, but the property Intel got from Killer is crap. The E3100 series NIC is an unstable, therefore undependable, piece of kit. I've got it on my X570 Taichi Razer. It's constantly losing the network. Tried switching switches, cables, flipped ports, updated the drivers, everything. It simply decides, at irregular intervals "Bah! I'm done!" and DCs. So I've ordered a nice dual port REAL Intel NIC, and I can just put this issue to bed.

So you would recommend pairing the XFanSeventyS with a AMD FantyNineFantyx?

ASRock releases their best effort usually at the end of the CPU generation as with the Super Alloy 970A (only FX board with m.2 support) that was the last effort for FX series. ASRock M.2 issue being unable to support an OS via the M.2, I presently have their B550 and yep same problem with M.2... If you use the riptide for daily use, please let me know the status as I need a better board. If tyhe problem still exists I will get a regular X570 (non ASRock) and loop a block to cool the north bridge. Just need better performance to acomplish what I am doing.

The price is just crazy. You get the same specs for half the price. Is it worth the price to go fan less?

So X570S is not the equivalent of X570? I thought they just made some tweaks to be able to remove the chipset fan. Regular X570 comes with more gen4 lanes?

Nothing is high end about Asrock. They make the worse motherboards in the business.

What was the price?

I had the Asrock X570 PG4 and with my 3900x it was just unable to run RAM even at just 3466. It probably would have worked at that speed if raising VDDG above 1020mV didn't also cause PCIE instability. Had none of these problems once I upgraded to the X570 Taichi.

5700G, I would prefer Displayport to HDMI.

Does it support Ryzen 5 5700x out of the box, or do I need to do a bios update with my old cpu before I install the 5700x? Can I directly install the latest bios or do I need to install the previous versions one by one?
