For me, I've only got back into gaming the last few years, after stopping after the PS2, so I can't get enough of these ports. And as someone who grew up with a Gameboy, I still can't quite get my head around playing better than ps2 quality games on the go, let alone the ones that are even more modern looking. I'm gonna get AC3 eventually, but right now I'm busy with Resident Evil 4, and then gonna play RE1 AND RE0. The tank controls in RE4 are a bit hard to get used to but I get the reason why they're there, you're on the edge of your seat because of the tension it brings. There's too many good games to play right now. I don't have time or money to play all of them. The switch has an embarrassment of riches
duffman18 Same exact situation here. I stopped gaming after the PS2 era, and just got back into them in 2016 when I first heard the Switch was coming out. I finally got around to playing older retro games I missed like Metroid Prime, Symphony of the Night, and a lot of Super Metroid Hacks, but I still had a huge back library of games from so many consoles to catch up on. So these ports are perfect for me now on the Switch
just found switch Assassin's Creed 3 in the clearance bin at Walmart for 10 bucks!!!! 2 games 10 BUCKS!! I couldn't believe it. I picked it up immediately along with Resident Evil Revelations double pack for 15 bucks!!! now that's a lot of Gaming for less than $30. lm loving my switch light. peace!!
How I found my ac3 for the 360s back when I was like 12 I worked for ac3 outside for my parents and it wasn’t there decided to check the clearance bin when we still had them a long time ago I came home with black flag ,3 and liberation code was awesome for the price of one game
Sat in the car going through these Akane comments! Winners on the way! Hey guys! What are we thinking of this one? I have enjoyed Liberation far more mainly due to the improved performance. It is still incredible to have this on Switch. Picking it up? Mark
@@rickycain9466 damn 60? (I'm not that high) I got 12 physical and probably 15 on sd card. There's still a bunch I need tho ( like dark souls, dead cells stuff like that). I love the switch so much lol. God speed buddy 👍
AC3 wasn't my favorite at the time. However, it does stand out because (IMO) it did an excellent job showing the moral ambiguity of the assassin / Templar conflict. It was the first game that made me realise that neither side is right, nor are they entirely wrong.
You guys are my go-to channel for reviews. You give all the information needed to determine whether or not to buy, you organize your thoughts nicely, and you have very chill voices that are pleasant to listen to. This is why SwitchUp scores 20/20.
I do doubt what Assassin's Creed can come on the Switch in the future. We have a hard cap with Unity onwards being way too complex but anything before that seems valid
Is there anyone on the Nintendo Switch in which you can customize your character? I'm a sucker for that and I've never played an Assassin's Creed game before...
recently got saints row 3 on the switch and I fell in love with the open world, cant wait to play this one !!! this is my first assasins creed game too
Oh that is so cool - if it is your first then I am almost certain you will love it as much of the stuff that later became a little stale will be nice and fresh to you! Mark
Great review. I’ve been on the fence about this one. You’ve convinced me to pull the trigger. Seems like most of the studios porting games for the Switch have been supporting their titles with upgrades. Feels like this is an 8.5 with the necessary, and almost expected patches.
So, I just got the game. It is outright AMAZING for a Nintendo Switch. After the latest patch, it improved the audio and performance. The only thing I want changed is the Altair outfit. It is stilled glued to Connors leg even though the other remasters removed that. Also Assassin Creed 4, Rogue, and Freedom Cry coming to Switch!!!
The switch port has quite a downgrade when comparing it to last gens consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360 the level of detail and lighting feels like its a PS Vita, the lighting, models and AO looks lower then the wii u and the switch is capable of much more in addition its a lot more powerful then the wii u, plus the audio sounds static, the switch version doesn't not feel like a remaster more like a water downed port.
Thanks for the greatest review my favorite 😍 AC both game absolutely 👌 pick physical this week. I hope both on one cartridge not like crapcom 😒 again thanks switch up keep it up. !!!
Love that - I really enjoyed it and was so confused by the hate the game got. Then other reviewers just followed that trend i think. Thanks for commenting! Mark
Nice one Mark! Actually a big fan of Ubisoft on Switch, what they actually bring, they make sure it is decent. Played Liberation on Vita, great game, will check this out soon 👍🏻
Yeah I've got all the big games, mario Oddysey, BotW etc but my favourite game still is probably Mario + Rabbids. Ubisoft really knocked it out the park with that one. I'm hoping for a sequel. Or they may just continue to add new DLC campaigns to it like the Donkey Kong one. Either way I'll be purchasing them. It got me into strategy games, I never really had an interest in them before
This really shows the limitations of the Switch. This is an almost 10 year old game that the Switch cannot run at a constant 30 fps. Don't get me wrong, I have and love the Switch, I just wish it could run these games at a stable frame rate.
I am so happy that this port came out well, I was honestly nervous on whether it would play well or not. I will have to pick it up this weekend. Thank you for a great review Mark!
When Nintendo has sold 120 million Switch units, why isn’t more main games coming to the platform? Especially, where is the last few AC games? Elden Ring? I want these games! Pare them back if they must, but don’t leave these games out!
Nice review 👍 I think I will have to get it at some point since I never have played it before.. Sure looks good and with a lot of gameplay is very welcome. I'm just wondering how long for a sale because these guys are usually pretty good about that with there games.
Awesome review, im enjoying it despite the frame hiccups and hoping for a patch soon, got the physical EU copy for $29.99 what an awesome value 2 games on 1 cartridge no additional downloads
Thanks dude - really feel the same, having a blast. Someone in these comments tried to say I was lying and that there were no frame rate drops at all lol. Mark
3 was my first AC game. On PS3. I thought it was ok. Then I went backwards and played the older games and absolutely fell in love with AC2. I think they got too ambitious with 3 and it never quite worked. Such a messy game and quite easily the worst in the series. It is cool to play it though because that's a great period in history. The game just doesn't run well on any console.
This was my first Assassins Creed game, and I first played it back on Wii-U... so this is somewhat nostalgic to me... having said that... the game doesn't perform as well as I would hope... frame rate is quite inconsistent
I hate the indie games. Well I don’t hate them, I hate that the Eshop is flooded with them. Now the ports? I fucking love the ports. More games! GameCube games especially
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I had a ton of fun with AC3. I can't wait to pick it up for my Switch. I have Liberation for the Vita, but I never got around to playing it much. It'll be nice to play it on my TV.
@@SwitchUpYt I haven't seriously gamed on a nintendo platform since the gamecube I bought a regular wii a couple of years ago but only because it had an emulator installed on it and I wanted to try a couple of Mario games. I never got too into it though and I completely skipped the wii U However I picked up a switch a couple of weeks ago and I think it's without a doubt the best console nintendo has ever created It takes me back to the days of Game Boy, Game Boy color, and Game Boy advance while simultaneously having the power of a last Gen. Console. Never mind the fact that they've actually had a couple of really decent ports of current Gen. Games like doom and mortal kombat 11 Even though I have a PS4 pro and an xbox one x and a 4K display and literally hundreds of games for both of those platforms, I'm not touching them ever since I got this switch. I love playing out on my deck or at work on break! Super Mario Odyssey is a masterpiece and Dark Souls remastered has a better framerate than my xbox 360 version lol
You could be right - perhaps being British it was actually a nice perspective to come at things. We tend to look at history and think we were fully justified. Games like this make me realise we were pretty grim. Mark
Good review! Looks solid and enjoyable. I am surprised that the switch version has so many good looking moments. Framerate can be an issue though but ubi is kinda used to fixing their games by now so maybe it won't take that long lol. I already got both games through AC: Odysseys season pass and I'll be playing there. I also haven't played 3 and upwards and hopefully it's as enjoyable as 1 and 2 :D (my gf loves AC:O , haven't played it myself)
@@SwitchUpYt it looks fantastic but it felt too much like an rpg with skills and stuff than Assassins creed. I really wasn't getting the typical vibe for some reason. I still think it's an action rpg with the AC logo slapped on but that's just my opinion.
Seems good port, feel fresh to see assassin creed on handheld since i've play them on PC before. But as some comment say, the audio issue feels kinda big from what i hear from my friend review (take this as a grain of salt). Still i'm quite surprise to see the performance doesn't have too much issue at all. Still nice vid guys, can't wait for next review vid.
Thanks for the review Mark. All looks good apart from when it comes to the performance. I grew out of the bad frame rates on the previous gen and moved to PC. This gen, both Sony and Nintendo are knocking it out of the park and I just can’t accept poor frame rates anymore. AC Liberation on the Vita was the last straw for me. Hopefully a patch is incoming.
As a PC gamer, frame rates are something I pay a lot of attention to. Some people were saying this is always a solid 30FPS - BS it is not. Some other channels have used early game footage where the majority of the optimisation has clearly taken place. Mark
Both resident evil 4 and saint's row 3 didn't have gyro controls while assassin's creed 3 does even tough guns are borderline useless gadgets in the game...
I played #1 and #2 on PC before I had my switch. I am so excited that the next game in the series is the one that came to switch! I'm also hoping there are more to come! I'd love to continue the series on my favourite console!
I binged 1 and 2 in a couple days before I got the switch and then I kind of fell away from them but I might look into it especially if more come to the switch!
@@LegallyGaming AC Ezio Trilogy (2, Brotherhood, Revelations) is amazong. Assassins Creed 3 actually sucks though. Skip that game! But AC 4 Black Flag is one of the best games of 2013 and you will not regret buying that game...
I played the first ever Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. I heard they were not great games in the franchise. Unfortunately as playing those two games it did turn me off the franchise, well that and a near carbon copy game comes out annually (Also looking at you CoD - though I had a decent time with a single CoD game I bought which turned out to be a good one). Sadly this is a pass for me in similar ways I cannot bring myself to but Saints Row the Third
Great video, guys. :) Looks as if this is the opportunity to play my first Assassins Creed game. lol Looking forward to your RE4 review. I just played it and am not convinced so far. Reason: The controls feel horrible and no motion control support! :O That's rediculous because it is a missed opportunity to stick out from all the other versions, like the Wii version did back then...
That's an artificial opinion...Nobody wants the motion controls when you can do without it... It's just the RU-vidrs spoiling the fun for you... Nobody needed the motion controls in original Game so no need for it now....
@@nayyarrashid4661 It's a valid opinion! ;P The question is not if the controls are needed or not. Question is. Are they possible or not and they deffinitely are and they would be a great addition for more precise aiming, like in the Wii Edition. But no! And even the standard controls in the Switch version feel wrong. I played GC, PS2, Wii and PS3 Version and the Switch controls felt worst.
I played with motion controls back in the day - was it in the wii? I’m sure I played with motion controls somewhere and it was lovely. For me, not having that on Switch is quite lazy. Mark
Just got this game for the switch and I am currently at sequence 6. Can't wait to pick up Red Faction: Guerrilla on the switch once its released on July 2nd
Guys. I am hesitating about Thief Simulator. And waiting for you guys to review it. You guys are my gaming compass 🧭 so any review regarding that game soon?
Got the game yesterday, I've only played the tyranny of king Washington and the game suffers alot from framedrops when running or when fighting against alot of the ennemies at the same time
I remember playing this on PlayStation 3 for free and couldn’t make it through, Liberation sounds like the better game, at least in terms of story, the whole Desmond and Connor story was quite dull. Loved the Boat play and would buy Black Flag in a heartbeat
A good and helpful review of the game. What a shame that the performance is not perfect, but overall a good game. Will you Review Team Sonic Racing as well? I am waiting for it as an alternative for Mario Kart and maybe Crash Bandicot ^^
I got this game for 29.99€. The framerate issues are unfortunate, but it should not bother me to much since I exclusively play in handheld. The amount of content that is presented here, along with the ability to play a large scale Assassins Creed game where ever I want make it worth it for me.
lets say warframe had a price and not a free game and it was the same price as assassins creed, and you had the ability to travel back in time, which one will you buy to your younger self?
I played for around 5 hours so far and still enjoy the game. But in my opinion the sound quality ingame has suffered a lot! Just listen to the water when you‘re next to a river f.e. Sound like 56kbps or something. Hope they patch this out.
Very interesting - I seem to not notice that and I have a nice set of headphones on when I review. Perhaps I am just old as F and can’t hear right anymore lol. Mark
@@SwitchUpYtI HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR IT FOR LIKE 1 AND A HALF MONTH THIS MAY NOT SEEM MUCH BUT FOR ME IT WAS BUT FOR THEM TO RELEASE A PORT OF AC 3 WITH UNFINISHED TEXTURES IS UNACEPTABLE
I'm getting the game in the mail tomorrow. Don't mind waiting the extra day. I have AC 3 on the X360, but I want it on the switch aswell, seems cool. What was that about a 2nd game that is included? Awesome!
lol Assassin's Creed looks cray. I've never played the game, but I did watch the movie...it was hard to follow. Does the movie do the game justice? Is the storyline easier to follow in the game...or is it just as difficult to figure out what the heck is going on. XD
I haven’t seen the movie as cool as Michael Fasbender is - I knew it would most likely be total garbage lol. There are many games to get through in this series Meg and the story makes little real sense even when followed form start to finish lol. Mark
@@SwitchUpYt lol might have to rank that one in the top list of hard to follow storylines...right up there with kingdom hearts...a game I do love...but why is the story so complicated!!?? >.
That movie was absolute garbage. Play the Assassin's Creed games starting with the very first one for the true experience or at the very least watch the game's trailers.
Great review. AC 3 is my least favorite but I really need an AC game on the switch so that's fine. Major props tho for being the first English guy not capping on this game for it being the war between us, because the game story really makes both of us look bad
@@SwitchUpYt I'm good my brother settling in to married life and enjoying your content. I hope you boys are doing well! Loving the rate at which your channel is growing! How are you bro?
I'm excited for this one! I haven't played any of the creeds but I loved the Arkham games(I hear the mechanics are similar) it's gonna be rad to have this portable
frame rate looks like crap :( This is a game released in 2012. Even on the switch, I can't possibly imagine the excuses they could make to justify such poor frame rates. You don't need a ps4 pro or xbox one x to get 60 fps for a 7 year old game.
It's more that playable to be fair, there are certainly drops at times but it's ok. I don't think people really realise how weak the Switch is. On paper it seems it should be easy, the CPU and other elements used were not the best choices for a console. Mark
