something to take note of with dragunova's banish ability is that it can be EXCEPTIONALLY useful when you start to take down the chosen in their stronghold
All my Reapers run around with Superior Extended Magazines and Repeaters. I've never had any problems with either the Chosen or other boss aliens (you know what I mean) since discovering that combo.
Man, the VIP vote fornthis week is gonna be a toug decision. Not only were Dragunova and Tsunami instrumental in shutting down that cannon, but seeing Starfall puree both the Assassin and the Andromedon Shell was a thing of beauty.
Guardian can trigger multiple times. I just had my specialist Overwatch fire three times on a Berserker and kill it by himself during it's initial activation.
I'd never seen this before despite watching other playthroughs - they simply never let it happen. I'm glad you let us see it though, what a great fight. I hope we get to see the other two Chosen's specialised attack missions.
@@Crisopeia I'm fine with this. I have beat the game but I have never allowed the chosen to get this far. I really like Pete's content when it's games that I find interesting (so no Mass Effect unfortunately).
The perfect 💕"HEY GURL"💕thumbnail for this episode. I don't think anyone in the squad minds the reaper and sharpshooter taking center stage for this one. You should do a slideshow after the final episode of this run of every end of mission photo, come to think of it.
Bladestorm, being a form of overwatch, only hits enemies that move into or out of melee range; having been summoned in on melee-range spots doesn't count, sadly. Same thing will happen if you place a bladetstorm ranger/templar on the pink dot that marks enemy reinforcements and an Advanced Mec shows up (because they never move on discovery; they just go on overwatch)
Been getting into xcom 2 for the first time recently, and you’ve inspired me to attempt a legendary Ironman play through. Thank you so much for the content!! Love every moment of it
Funny enough, you can have the aliens accidentally destroy the cannon, if a sectopod walks over that open space between the cannon battery and the truck while the battery is at low enough health, by just stepping on the open space the Sectopod will blow up the whole truck which will destroy itself and the battery with it.
A reaper with banish, a superior expanded magazine, and a superior repeater is a death machine… That makes Chosen encounters trivial as Reaper can singlehandedly take out any Chosen, even those with teleport because banish finishes before teleport activates, and dead Chosen can’t teleport.
I didnt even know that this mission existed! Thaks for showing it to us! ^^ I was wondering why you didn't take out the Assassin right away ;D Now I know!
Hey Pete, I love your xcom 2 walkthorugh, but I was wondering if you have any kind of standardized update schedule for the next video of these series? I know that you may take time off for vacations and the like, but I just want to see if there's a specific day you release the next video once it's completed when you're not planning a vacation. Thanks in advance for your response, and I look forward to seeing what happens next in this masterpiece walkthrough!
ive gotten 'the large turret and backup trucks all on the high ground while you start on the low ground' verison of this mission so many times in a row that until i watched this video i thought it was the only version of this mission
Avenger missions are THE mission where sniper with killzone really shines. I usually setup 2 snipers with ap rounds, place them on a good position and activate killzone on each while covering maximum enemies. Then just have one solder run in to activate enemies and run back to safety. Snipers will get an extra shot because pod was activated on this turn. This can effectively kill 2-3 entire pods of enemies or at least cull the numbers and severely damage the remaining ones.
Nice. The first time I had this mission the Assassin had a weakness to explosives and I had sent 2 reapers to the field, when they found her I just planted 2 claymores and blasted her from the mission haha. I'd hate to face the Hunter in such a big and open map, so I attacked his home imediately after he got the full bar, maybe I'll kill the Assassin next and the Warlock last since his bar is the smallest.
Fun strategy in case you've never tried it: @hen enemy reinforcements come you can have a Ranger stand on top of the flare. When they land and scramble, you get a free Blademaster reaction on each of them!
*ADVENT drops in Purifier* If you can get a Ranger with Fortress in the random ability pool (which I THINK can happen), that completely nullifies any threat the soldier might take.
Watching this playthrough got me to download this for the switch. Playing the basic game to learn a bit before I take on war of the chosen but watching you eviscerate wave after wave of advent pawns does give me hope to tackle it myself sooner or later. Though you have done the spark side mission will you be doing the Dr side quest in this run?
Never seen this session before cool to know that it’s there. Anyone know if you can have this mission more than once or is it just once per chosen or once per game?
Is there any reason not to aggressively pursue stocks and superior stocks on all weapons? Not really relevant for planned shots as you don't plan to miss, but when you're expecting lots of overwatch shots it seems like a serious boom to get 3 pts damage with every single triggered response.
I personally never got into stocks. My usual prefererred strategy is to kill everything within my turn and if I'm unable to do that, I usually use a decoy or put my people away from line of sight. Overwatch is not something that plays a huge part, unless it's a specialist. And on specialist, I use extended mag, scope and repeater.
Intimidate on spark is trash, it does not withstand many hits, so it is better to not get attacked at all. And even if it activates id fails 2/3 times even with top gear.
Now waiting another 7-8 day. Banish is very useful ability the best have fighting against king viper, king archon, queen berserker, gatekeeper, Avatar also on final mission change my mind
Also I have noticed that after rank up soldier you still using those soldiers for kills and it's bad tactic. Why? Game is bugged with this I tested this myself on easy difficulty unless you install mod 'No Rank Up Throttling' description Removes the limit that prevents soldiers from ranking up multiple times after a single mission, even though they earned enough Kills / XP. Overrides: None Can safely be enabled and disabled in running campaigns. You will still only get one rank up message in a battle, but will be able to rank up multiple times back in HQ. Apparently completely borked in LW2. If you check out comment section on this mod you will see it will be worth it
I remember watching a speedrun a while back (Legend Ironman War of the Chosen, 8 hours long), and the player set up a Lost-only mission, set up a soldier in a location where the lost were unable to reach him (high up in a building with the floor nearby blown up), evacuated everyone else. He then spent several turns shooting at the Lost, trying to kill as many as possible with zero risk. The soldier only got one promotion after the mission, but he gained enough exp so the next few missions all awarded a promotion (which would've taken several missions otherwise).
@@Padsoldier He had to have a mod otherwise wouldn't be possible. Like I wrote I tested myself and you can check comment section in this mod. I can give you one comment 'wow, i canbt beliueve i did not have this for a long time. i just did a avenger defense killed like 20 + aliens , my soldier who killed like at least 10 went from rookie to squaddie -_-'
