The old design of hidden blades required for the ring finger to cut off but altair updated the design so it wasn’t needed anymore and da vinci perfected that design
The first incident of the ring finger getting cut due to the Hidden Blade was when Bayek tried to assassinate a member of the Order for the first time. After that when Bayek established the Hidden Ones one of his trusted generals had cut off her finger to show her commitment to the cause. Ever since then, Assassin's had been following this tradition up until Altair and Da Vinci modified the hidden Blade so that it won't accidentally cut the ring finger. The Italian Assassin's still burned a mark on the ring finger to show their commitment and keep up with the tradition. Although this wasn't followed by the French Brotherhood.
The hidden ones up until altair:We cut our finger The italian brotherhood:We put burn marks on our finger French brotherhood:We drink alcohol which gives us hallucinations
I get the feeling there was always a sort of split between the Hidden Ones with the finger and those without the finger because Amunet/Aya still has her finger.
@@endless013 bayek accidentally lost his finger while an assassination he forgot to pull back his palm as a result his finger got cut.. So when they found the brotherhood bayeks followers started doing the same thing i like to think that it was to show their loyalty to the cause.. Also it makes the use of hidden blade more easier without getting scared about losing ur finger.
@@endless013 yes I'm wondering may be your thought is correct , it will be so dope if there exist two groups of Assassins one from bayek and other from Aya
For some historical context Jaby and to the others reading this, the game is set in 9th century Baghdad (capital of modern day Iraq) in the Abbasid Caliphate during the "Islamic Golden Ages" where Baghdad was the largest, most advanced in terms of culture, science, philosophy and other things as well as the most populated city on Earth at the time. The game is said to also (not all of them could be in game but some of them) contain some important historical figures like Al-Khawarizmi (known as the "Father of Algebra" as he made Algebra what it is today. And yes he did do it thanks to mathematical data from other great mathematicians of the past like most notably the brilliant Indian mathematician Brahmagupta which Al-Khawarizmi did metion in his works), Banu Musa Brothers (who made advancements in mechanical functional machines, an impressive feat of Engineering), Ibn Firaz (who made advancements most notably in Astronomy alongside Medical Science and Engineering) and several other important figures of this era. This is something you rarely see in games today (as it's either something related to either Europe, North America or Japan) so it's great to see some actual underrated and overlooked Middle Eastern representation not many westerners and even easterners known about. Plus, this AC game will be going back to it's original roots like AC 1 and the Ezio Trilogy so that's also a big factor why most people are excited for this game. As always, nice and honest reaction guys!
@@ShahanshahShahin The Arabs always had civilizations in the Hejaz region all the way from the Sinai peninsula in Egypt to Yemen as this area of Arabia would the most hospitable area. They were just not as grant as the civilizations of the Roman and the Persians. This changed after Islam came to the region and spread out beyond Arabia. The Arabs did got most of the administration of handling such a huge empire with new civilizations from the Persians (as it was one of the best of it's time).
@@ShahanshahShahinYou wish. The Persians copied a heck ton of shit they had from the neighboring Mesopotamian civilizations. Arabs didn’t get or learn anything from them
@@Byhvla All of them got many things from each other. Mesopotemians were the real OP of that place, but Persians(both Islamic and pre-islamic) had big civilizations too. The culture, and languages from the middle east and Central Asia got many things from the first Persian Empire, the Achaemenid Empire. And copying? lol. every civilizations copied things from other or previous societies. It's not "copying", it is called "influence". Like the Greece or Greek civilization played a crucial role in the transmission of classical knowledge to the Islamic world. Many scholars from the Islamic golden age got influenced by ancient Greek knowledge. Arabs didn't invent all science and knowledge by themselves. "Arabs didn't get or learn anything from them" is really a hilarious thing to say. Persian culture had a significant impact on Arabic and Islamic civilization after the conquest of Persia. There are literally two kinds of Islamic civilization or influence. One is the Arabic Islamic influence, another one is the Persian Islamic influence which has influenced the Islamic culture of whole South and Central Asia.
I think it's has been confirmed that going forward Ubisoft will make both types of AC games, classic AC gameplay and RPG AC gameplay. Which I think is a great idea.
@@deathking1019 the trailer is heavily inspired by the AC1 trailer, even a nice little easter egg, when the "templar" in the beginning sets the guards on Basim, he yells the same words enemy soldiers yell to Altair in AC1
It's the voice of Shohreh Aghdashloo, my fellow Persian Actress and one of my fav ppl in the world. You might remember her from Arcane the animated series. She is amazing, you can see her talent on many famous TV shows an Movies, such as "Expanse", "The Punisher", "Homeland", "Law & Order", "24" and so many other things... She plays a character in this game, called "Roshan", who's also a Persian woman in the game and she's Basim's mentor.
The lady voice ( The Master ) is an Iranian actress's name Shohre Aghdashloo - she also voiced a character in Mass Effect Trilogy ( Admiral Ran ) and many series and movie like Expanse
I want to say she's going to be in the upcoming Mass Effect show too. Killed it as Avasarala. Iconic lady with an iconic voice. The Expanse was some of the best Sci-Fi out, dope show.
They're finally going back to their roots for the series. If you weren't familiar, then well you won't get this sentiment, but the last three games have been RPG-ish open-worlds, with little to no Assassin story. But Mirage seems extremely promising- the most promising thing is literally that it is not an RPG! As for the finger-cutting, yeah the old Assassins had to cut their ring finger off so the Hidden Blade would operate smoothly. It went on for a long time until Altair and the others realized that their enemies were able to recognize the Levantine Assassins by their missing ring finger. And so Altair redesigned the blade, but the design for the new Blade was finalized by Ezio and Da Vinci. After that there was no more need to cut off the ring finger. The Italian Brotherhood still followed some kind of ritual which marks them apart, but other Brotherhoods like the Victorian one or the French one pretty much got rid of this tradition entirely, replaced by a sort of "communion" where they had a special drink to celebrate a new member in the Brotherhood (which can be seen in Unity during Arno's initiation). Btw, the game is set in 860 BC Baghdad. Also, yes they are doing away with the Animus thing. With AC Infinity, they're kind of making it like *you*, the player, are the one accessing the Animus, and not a in-game modern protagonist. As for the point of modern day, the modern Assassins are hunting down certain powerful artifacts and people, which is why they need to access the memories of their ancestor which interacted with the object or person. Though truth be told, as you said, it is annoying to be pulled into modern day, which is why I think the idea of you the player availing the services of the animus is cool.
they have to cut the ring finger to make room for the hidden blade to come out...its an old design...hidden blades from ezio(assassins creed 2) era dont need the finger sacrifice as they were updated by Leonardo da Vinci
If you played AC 1, 2, brotherhood and Revelation, and AC Valhalla, you would be able to understand the motive, the hype, and the expectation behind this game. Basim is a very very important and linked character with the games I mentioned. But yeah you are right. Graphics wise I have low hopes. You should recap those games at least before playing AC Mirage.
@@alexmason9864 Spoilers Desmond is the protagonist of most of those games and Valhalla picked up the Desmond storyline through one if it's characters.
@@alexmason9864 Basim's story is linked with Desmond's related storyline. And Altair's Story, the Story related to Masyaf, Juno's plan, the ISU era all these matters are inter-connected.
Yes, there will be no present day sequences in AC Mirage and it will be a mostly narrative-driven story. Basim was one of the titular NPCs in AC Valhalla (without spoilers) and this game is set about 20 years before the events of AC Valhalla (mostly unrelated to it). The in-universe lore for the Animus has changed quite a bit. TLDR; you don't need the actual person anymore to access their ancestor's memories, a sample of their blood is enough. Thats why Abstergo (in-game conglomerate) has now made that entire genetic memory thing an interactive VR experience thing for most commercial users (Helix Project) while they use an advanced version of Animus in secrecy for their own shady stuff. That shady stuff is what AC Origins, AC Odyssey and AC Valhalla are about.
the Animus doesn't transport you to the past, the concept is that your memories are stored inside your blood and past onto your descendents the animus allows a person to explore the genetic memories of your ancestors for learning secrets that they held
They are removing that finger because back then, hidden blades use to accidentally cut your own finger in combat. But Leonardo Da Vinci remodeled it so you don't need to anymore.
I think the voice was Shoreh Agdalashloo or something. I know of her from The Expanse, Arcane, Mass Effect, and Destiny. Of all the older women I'd marry just for their voice, she is one of them.
Mirage is based in Baghdad so it will concentrate on the Abbasid Caliphate which covered all of Arabia, Cairo and some parts of northern Africa as well as majority of the Middle East. The time period should be 8th to 9th century and it's the perfect time period as during that time, there were other factions in the region trying to assert control and plenty of spying was done from everyone. Secret agents, double & triple-crossing and assassinations were par for the course in that region during that time period all the way till the Ottoman Empire rose into power. And if they keep up with the Templar themes in the game, then the Byzantine empire is perfect for it since they are situated directly beside the caliphate.
The Animus is a tool made by Abstergo Industries (which are modern Templars) where you can access ancestral memories through DNA. The goal of Abstergo is to locate and acquaire the Pieces of Eden (that were created by Isu, who are ancient and highly advanced species of humanoid beings who lived before humans) by using Assassin remnants as subjects for Animus, for them to control over mankind or ending the human race and start anew. The AC Lore is really good. Ubisoft just butchered it and now with what was happened in Valhalla, I think they are trying to fix it. I don't know if it's going to work though.
I knew I recognized that voice. She was Dinah Madani's mother in the Netflix Punisher series. She was also in 'X3- The Last Stand.' Ubisoft's sexual harassment saga in the past two years and the way they've deviated from their origins hasn't left a good taste in my mouth, but this game trailer seems to at least echo what the franchise used to be.
Assassin's Creed has found it's identity 🤩. I will definitely be playing this. Assassin's Creed Blackflag "Assassin's Creed 2 and "Unity are my absolute favorites. Countering is key for me. Fantastic video guys ⚔️
The first hidden blade (in AC Origins) has a design flaw where blade could cut ring finger if not actuated carefully and that's why Bayek (one of the founder of Assassin Brotherhood) lost his finger, so from there it became a symbol of dedication and faith towards the brotherhood and every new recruit must participate in this ceremony of sacrificing ring finger. But later Altair fixed this design flaw and then instead of cutting off the finger they just started to burn a stamp on the finger with red hot iron stamp.
It is not a flaw, the blade was supposed to be worn on top of the wrist like Darius does in Legacy of the First Blade. Bayek put it wrong, so he learned the hard way to adapt. It wasn’t flawed.
They have to cut their ring finger because This custom first began when Bayek of Siwa accidentally severed his ring finger when he killed Eudoros, the Hippo of the Order of the Ancients. And now this became a tradition, if you want to be an assassin then you have to cut your ring finger
A game doesn't need to look good to be a good game, sure it helps if the visuals/graphics are amazing. I've played every AC game except Valhalla (just haven't had time yet lol) my top 3 are Brotherhood, Black Flag, and Origins. Overall I do love the older games more than the newer ones, but love the series as a whole!
really hoping that this lives up to the idea of "going back to the roots" ... great cinematic, but I'm cautiously optomistic as one of those old people who just wants the 'old assassin's creed' back haha
All Ac games are connected to one another in terms of storyline, so if you play Mirage, there will be certain elements which will confuse you but once you start playing prior games you'll understand it better.
Yeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssss finally Thank you jaby , this game is AC fan dream the game is about Real Assassins not like last 2 games , you gotta play the AC games I'm really invested to characters and lore , or watch all the trailers if you want
i saw some1 talking about bayek and it was a way to show commitment and yes thats true but mechanism overall worked that way that it was almost necessary
am forever fan of this World thi Assassins Creed universe all Assassins From Ezio to Siwa Edward Connor all off them are uniq and awesome in there own way
Assassin's creed is back from dead ....let's gooo!! I highly recommend jaby to react to all cinematic trailer of it. I really hope to hae really improved graphics , cinematography, storyline fighting engine, and hardcore Parkour and all .... because it's just not a game but for a long running legacy of game story franchise.
Super impressive graphics, Assassin's Creed is going so long it has to be one of the best fun games. Hopefully the story would be better. FYI Blag Flag was the best
I watched all your Indian movie reactions they are awesome, suddenly I noticed on my feed that you also react for games , that made me so excited but after watching I was expecting more my friend
9:40 Goddamn you don't know how much I relate to this, especially with the difficult grindy stuff! Or even worse, the games that are designed to keep you guessing and having to figure out the answer or goal for yourself, which forces us to google search it... and I HATE when I have to google search just to understand the next step or stage in a game. That just kills the immersion and takes away the desire to keep playing. There's lots of Plats that I've missed out on because of games that wanted to be EXTRA challenging, which caused it to be EXTRA tedious, repetitive and/or too difficult/annoying to overcome. 😤😤
Husband is 1000000% on the same thought with the Animus... This looks better than what I was thinking... but honestly... I just want to know about Hexe!!! (I don't play, I just watch my husband play & co-pilot for him 😅)
Well if you've got the PS5 & PS+ Premium, it gives you access to Ubisoft+ Library, which includes, as of tomorrow (Sept 16th) every Assassins Creed game except for Odessey (AC Ancient Greece).
"The Persians ruled for a thousand years and did not need us Arabs even for a day. We have been ruling them for one or two centuries and cannot do without them for an hour." ~ *Abbasid Caliph Al-Ma'mun* (813-833 CE). Persians had a great influence on their conquerors. The caliphs adopted many Sassanid administrative practices, such as coinage, the office of vizier, or minister, and the divan, a bureaucracy for collecting taxes and giving state stipends. Indeed, Persians themselves largely became the administrators. It is well established that the Abbasid caliphs modeled their administration on that of the Sassanids. The caliphs adopted Sassanid court dress and ceremony. In terms of architecture Islamic architecture borrowed heavily from Persian architecture. The Sassanid architecture had a profound influence over Islamic architecture.
I still don't understand why the movie failed when the game franchise has so much lore and characters to pull from and adapt. Fingers crossed they try again and succeed, preferably in a TV/ streaming series than movies.
A lot of people who haven’t played the original ac games say that the animus should be gotten rid of but if you play the first 5 games there is a cohesive modern story line that gives a purpose to why each game is in the time period and setting that it is in but in modern games it hasn’t been important but I think is still necessary
yes i agree with you this is cinematic but this isnt 2014 where ubisoft used to tone down the graphics its 2022 the graphics will look almost as good as this cinematic trailer
The assassins were real They were, sort of. The legends are based on the Nizari Ismailis-a breakaway group from the Ismaili branch of Shia Islam-that occupied a string of mountain castles in Syria and Iran from the end of the 11th century until the Mongol conquests in the middle of the 13th their leader was Hassan I sabah also their founder so basically Altair is his reincarnation In the assassins creed games.
If you didn’t like being pulled out of the animus then this game would be a lot better for you. Although the animus will be present, it’s only in the beginning when you first enter it. And I believe ubisoft said that you won’t come back out until the end.
