This magical thing was there: A 4-5 times smaller and more professinal crew only tried to make a good game. Didn't care about the fashion or transactions.
A hint of City of Rome from Brotherhood in this soundtrack, but with a lot more nostalgia. Gives a sense of vulnerability at this point of Ezio's life and the tide of the world seemed to have left him.
It also makes sense historically. Constantinople was originally called Byzantium in Roman Empire days. Then Constantine moved the capital there and it eventually came to be known as Constantinople after him. Eventually the Roman Empire fell, but Byzantium held. It held onto that dream of the glory that was rome, and ever since then the Byzantine Empire would dream of being as glorious as Rome once was, but it could only ever gain a shadow of its Roman past. Instead it developed a beauty of its own. Just like this track.
Constantinople was officially renamed "New Rome" by Constantine himself, but the name never stuck. Instead it just became known unofficially (and then officially) as Constantinople, or 'the City of Constantine'.
What I love about Jesper Kyd's soundtracks for this series is that the concept of the "animus" and Isu technology was such a clear influence. His arrangements seem to sample instruments and styles characteristic of the periods and locales of the memories being accessed, but never seems to lose that electronic or technological filter. Maybe part of this is due to the fact that when this series was first taking off they couldn't yet use massive live orchestras and a lot of it *had* to be composed electronically. Surprisingly, this didn't detract from the music, but instead made it unique and helped set the games themselves apart from others. While I appreciate and enjoy many of the other soundtracks for the series, their eagerness to create these film-like scores came across as somewhat ostentatious and the music ended up feeling a bit trite on occasion. Though they even seem to have echoed some of Kyd's approach in some ways, it felt that they often lacked the heart and emotion that is certainly a trademark of his work on the series. I'd be lying if I didn't say I wanted him to come back for future AC titles.
I am playing the game these days. The first time this track played I just left the game running with ezio in the middle of istanbul and just fell asleep to it repeating over and over again. It gives a sense of how he left his home, family and loved once being alone with lots of people around him:). Its like feeling a moment of peace in the middle of the war. I am living alone for almost 3 years away from my family and thats why I felt all that. Days when AC was actually a good game :)
I’ve just realized that Ezio visited the real rome in brotherhood after the empire fell. But then he TECHNICALLY fought what remained of the Roman (Byzantine) empire in this game.
@@JOSWAY787 Then why were the Greeks still calling themselves Romans even during the Ottoman Empire? And why is the term “Byzantine empire” a phrase that was only created after it fell?
I absolutely adore the tone of this soundtrack. It captures a sense that seems to have been lost over time, and has resurfaced as the City of Istanbul.
Ahhhh makes me want to play the Ezio Collection. I missed it so much after trying out the new ACs. I must say that AC ended as soon as Revelations ended :(
Whenever I listen to this music, the whole life of Ezio revolves around in my mind and makes me sad that he won't be appeared again in the franchise. 🙁
Assassin's Creed sempre teve uma trilha sonora de uma qualidade deslumbrante. É uma pena que a melhor época de Assassins já passou. Morreu junto com o Desmond.
This and Zelda Skyward Sword defined 2011. Surprisingly both had a similar magical feel to them. I know everyone was playing Skyrim back then but…. I just had to stick with my tried and true…
One thing I hated about this game was that the music was always so low. The crowd voices were a lot louder. I don't care for the crowd, I wanna listen to this beautiful music!
I recently replayed this game and finishing it just made me really sad. It’s all finished. Altair and ezio, Desmond, everything magical about this series ended here. I love some later titles but, it’s not the same
If I'm not mistaken this is an ambient theme played throughout the game as you traverse Istanbul. It is so relaxing and beautiful. Such a majestic track, elevating the experience that much more. 🎵🎶🎵🎼🎶🎼🎶🎶🎼🎵
This game would have been the perfect conclusion for assassin's creed and probably it would have been if only Desmond would have seen his deserved conclusion, too.
Such a great theme for the City of Mother of God, the jewel of Rome, an enlightened capital with her devotion to life. Such a shame Rome is forgotten but our beautiful city still carries her Roman spirit even though invasions and persecutions
