Assassin's Creed Shadows Is HERE! 

In AC lore, Yamauchi Taka (a member of the Japanese Brotherhood) killed Oda Nobunaga, previously an Ally of the Brotherhood, after he acquired a Sword of Eden the brotherhood had been searching for.

I’m so glad that it seems like the Assassins and Templars are going to be called Assassin’s and Templars as this game takes place in 1579

Of course we have to see gameplay first before we can make any official judgements of the game, but the cinematic was dope as hell! Ubisoft always kills it with the trailers for Assassin’s Creed. I’m excited to see more!

They really brought back the hidden blade mechanic from AC 3, which is honestly a nice touch. I just hope they take away the stamina bar for good, that's the most annoying thing about the recent AC games. We don't want games that's realistic, we just want to have fun.

My main hope is that I won't get fatigued near the end of the playthrough like what happened with Valhalla. Literally played and beat the main campaign and the first dlc and I didn't want to play any more. Mirage was the first game in a while where it kept my interest from beginning to end. I hope AC Shadows is more like Mirage and not like Valhalla. I dont want to get tired of the game midway through and literally force myself to play more only to mentally break myself and never want to play this again. This happened with valhalla, I don't want this to happen again. I want to enjoy Shadows but it really depends on how it is designed.

I've noticed Yasuke carries what appears to be a wakizashi on his side along with his sword, maybe that'll be his stealth takedown weapon in place of a hidden blade. Sorta like the Spear of Leonidas in Odyssey or the tanto in GoT

What excites me the most is the enviroment changing depending on the seasons and how it changes the behavior of enemies. That's really cool.

Pretty sure yasuke was first a templar in service of a templar missionary Alessandro Vagligni and then brought to nobunaga who accepted the templar order. But then for some reason, yasuke helped Naoe free the japanese in the hands of nobunaga and the templars while still having the templar title

I wonder if the story with the duel protagonists will work like with Jacob and Evie where we play through both of their events as they are happening at the same time and they probably either start off with them doing their own thing but then becoming intertwined as the story progresses or intertwined from early on in the story.

I like it makes Naoi look like the protagonist out of the two that we will prefer since she is more stealthy which makes sense as it’s in the title and the oh concept of the series , to play as some stealthy assassin

Retainer and samurai aside, it's funny people complaining having non-japanese protagonist in japanese setting. Meanwhile nioh has william as protagonist which totally non-japanese too. That says something.

Still skeptical of this but people are really butthurt over a black guy being a samurai while yes there actually was one but not really a samurai, its ubisoft and a video game and no AC game has been truly historically accurate. I think they shouldve went with Tokugawa era like Rurouni Kenshin but then we probably would've gotten a white guy as a samurai... oh wait that sounds familiar

The lack of East Asian male representation is a major concern. The last six male leads of AC games have been native/ethnic matches of their lands whether it be Greece, Egypt, Scandinavia, UK, Middle East, or France. When it comes to Japan, an East Asian male lead is sidestepped. That is no coincidence. Ubisoft is sending a message that East Asian males can't be male MC in games where they are from.

Yasuke (弥助 or 弥介) was a man, likely of African origin, who served as a servant and retainer to the Japanese daimyō Oda Nobunaga in 1581-1582, during the Sengoku period. He was retained by the daimyō as a koshō (小姓, page) for a period of 15 months until Nobunaga's death in the Honnō-ji Incident.

Shadows is not a great name, it's not even a good name, but it's not a bad name either. Shadows is what a 12 year old would name a game.

I still think the best way to do this game isn’t to break it up between stories, but to have two differing stories, depending on who you play; like new game plus, you play the story from start to finish from each character’s perspective, coming to the end point together. It would be a really cool way to tell a story, and having both diverge but be separated by the player would have huge replay value

I honestly don’t think he will be able to parkour nearly as effectively as naoe, with all that armor but ig eivor is a tank so

I feel like yasuke’s parkour would feel similar to eviors, because of the bulky armour. So I think there’s gonna be a armour weight system depending on if you want to go stealth or brute mode.

If you were a retainer to a daimyo during the Warring States period you were pretty much a samurai as it wasn't a strict social class until the Tokugawa Shogunate

I really hope they will make the dual protagonists system like AC syndicate but better, like I hope we can switch at anytime but instead of only doing certain missions with one character we can do every mission with either character but make make it harder/easier depending on who you choose since Naoe seems like she will be stealth based like evie in syndicate and Yasuke seems to be combat based like Jacob

Good thing is they are Assassins again (I was growing tired of the Hidden Ones), but I will be at peace when the characters in the cutscenes don't look like plastic anymore

This gonna be a long one, but Im assuming the gameplay like you said is correct. We are having the frye twins concept but probably having an actual diffrence. One is a brute, and the other is an assassin. This is a HUGE hunch but this could be a first AC game that changes characters gameplay who you play as like they attempted a bit in syndicate but this time the character you choose matters. Gameplay prediction For sneaky gamers that missed the good days of assassins creed you have The shinobi: is a mix of the original stealth/parkour bad ass assassin like the (OG assassin games) with insane amount of agility the classic hidden blade, alot of tools *smoke,firecrackers, kunai, hidden blad into a combat knife etc* primarily for high skill players of stealth. You're a panther. focus on staying in the shadow. Staying away from combat. (In combat situations, You are insanely fast and can counter your enemies but your vulnerable and easily be injured from your opponent's. So you have to master the combat mechanic, use your tools to either away, or eliminate your enemy. samurai: a warrior for the (odysey/vanhala) fans that you are a master of combat/endurance, and you will destroy anything that gets in your way. You rely on your master of swordsmenship. You upfront any opponent you encounter. Your an honorable warrior that only wield the blade. You beleive that using tools and hiding in the shadows is a dishonorable. (so the samuarai is going to be more flashy in combat, may have a adrenaline ability, and have more protection because the samurai armor. The samurai is a grounded character and doesnt have any agility but he gets the job done.)

I think that Yasuke’s Master (Forgot the name) has sent them to Naomi village to kill probably the assassins (because he is probably the templar master there) Her father is assassin and when he (probably) die she is gonna try to revenge him with Yasuke help.

I know Ezio's Family has been utilized to the high heavens, but I love it regardless. Not only is it the AC anthem at this point, I enjoy anything with a shamisen twist to it. For those unaware, the shamisen is that one stringed instrument that you'll hear in a lot of media with a Japanese setting or at least Japanese themes. If you know, you know

It would have been so cool if you could choose what character you want to play as at the beging of the game and have different stories that are connected

The only thing that worries me is that there was nothing about the assassins besides the hidden blade which seems to hint they might not play as big a part in the main story

Two things I'm excited about: 1. The return of the pivot blade and hidden blade combat 2. The (hopeful) return of Assassins vs Templars and no Hidden Ones or Cult of Kosmos nonsense

i thought the trailer was promising. it looks pretty good so far. and reaching out to more battle forward players along with stealth based players is a really good idea. i hope they show us some gameplay footage at the ubisoft forward, as that would be great. I have hope for this game and I am really excited

My main thing i want with this game is just a solid narrative. We already know its going to be in the "RPG" style of games the franchise has taken in. Ubisoft already said they will be having a release of 1 game in the "OG" style then the next being in the "RPG" style. Already i say thats a plus because now at least devs and mainly management wise they have a more focus/clear direction for the game rather than just try to appeal to both categories ultimately causing it to fail and be half baked. Due to this one being in the "RPG" style im expecting it to obviously be longer overall especially in story aspects so I just really hope its a good narrative especially since we have 2 actual characters. Not a Kassandra/Alexios/Eivor thing where its we the player have some kind of leeway into shaping their personality/actions because they didnt have an exact set personality/character. I would like to see some actual character arcs and not have them be the same from beginning to end. I would actually like to care of the cast and feel like their personal matters actually should have some care for. Of course I would love to see more than just narrative excel. I would love to see some new mechanics but its Ubisoft so im sure theyre going to play it safe. I would love to see more grounded combat, and more to it than just parry at the light above the enemy, light attack, heavy attack to then ultimately a random execution. I would like to see more stealth mechanics/options (though it wont be the sole focus but we do have a stealth main character) to at least experiment with ideas that maybe future games can fully hone in on. Like a crawl system, or because of the location and based off the chi trailer maybe some tree navigation like ac3, or using light source to fully be concealed maybe put out light sources. I doubt we will see if any new mechanics with this one so my main thing is just make this one enjoyable and give me a reason to want to keep up with these characters. I went from 0% interested to now at least 5%-10%. I will get the $15 ubi plus to try it canceling before my month renews to make up my own thoughts. If i enjoy it ill get it on sale, if not then at least i tried it out of my own curiousity and made my choice. Hopefully its solid tho.

I hope ubisoft does this game justice, i couldn't get into the franchise since AC Origins because of the drastic overhaul. Maybe I've been missing out and one day I'll give the AC games which came out since Origins a chance one day. But for now I want AC to deliver again in storytelling and gameplay like they did before. That being said, I'm very skeptical about the gameplay as in classic ubisoft fashion we haven't seen any gameplay yet, so honesly no reason to be hyped apart from the setting (took them long enough). Excited for any updates about it's progress tho, so you earned a sub!

I hope since the pivot blade is back that they let us actually use it in combat.that and maybe let us customize yasuke with assasin robes or have his armor slightly tuned with a hood.i really hope they bring back the hidden blade combat and good story telling,maybe even with the ability to have different pacifist choices and two different endings

I'm so excited. I'm a huge fan of Japanese history so this is a dream come true for me. Tbh I'm more looking forward to playing as Naoe though. Samurai are cool and all but imo Shinobi are way cooler. Plus a Shinobi is much closer to an Assassin than a Samurai is. I just hope we get masks to cover her face. It would make her feel more like a legit Shinobi. I also hope they don't force character changing during free roam. I would at least like the option to play as whoever I want when I'm just exploring the world. But yeah this looks and sounds like it'll be awesome.

Some people are actually mad that they made Yasuke a samurai because in some texts he was just a retainer for Oda Nobunaga. Well okay in the first place this is just a game. Second, y'all are mad at yasuke being a samurai but other non fictional things in the game is okay??? 😅

I don't know but it gives me a syndicate vibes likes Jacob was shown so badass and grappling hooks better usage but Jacob was turned into a joker and grappling hook not that great but ok so we can cross our fingers and pray the all that is in the trailer is true to the game

The trailer looked amazing. I want to say as always, Ubisoft never misses in that cinematic. The Ezio's Family at the end sounded just as good as ecery other version in the series. The voice actors for both Yasuke and Naoe sound really good and Naoe is actually a feminine woman. Its nice because the last two women were just men imo. Thats how they acted and thats why I preferred Alexios and Male Eivor. The entrance for Yasuke coming out of the smoke was just the chef's kiss. I wasn't for Yasuke being the male playable protagonist but Ubisoft made him an absolute unit in this game. Looks massive and is brutal in combat. This cinematic didn't get me as hyped though as Valhalla or Mirage. Eivor and his trailer were just a different breed imo. I can glady say though that the cinematic has me ready for this game. Probably won't be liked by everyone for being an RPG but I don't care. It's Assassin's Creed and I'm here for it. Something else that is interesting is that this game comes out on my brother's birthday.
