The point you ended with about the hat was exactly what I was thinking! My theory is that he flattens it, attaches it to his back, and a thin steel lining acts as a sort of bullet proof shield. Only joking, of course it will magically disappear and reappear, as all video game characters are also really good magicians.
Zero Score This is what I was thinking. I can imagine a collapsible top hat is more than possible in Steampunkland. What I'm more confused about is where his hood comes from.
It is fun as a game. But as an AC it really isn't that good. There is not much "Creed" is the game and you can run people over in a carriage tho the Assassin's laws says "Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent" aka don't hurt civilians. It's but but not really an AC
I'm willing to bet that you will either meet a very young Jack the Ripper in the main game, or they will make a DLC set twenty years later involving Jack the Ripper.
Syndicate is probably the best assassins creed game so far, I've played all of them and it's amazing for combat story and has side missions so when ur stuck on a level u don't just have to free run around until u figure it out
Calling it right now: The reason why the story dictates which of the twins you'll play as in missions is because the girl will either be kidnapped or killed less than an hour into the game.
b elliott baring the fact you called it that would be a good twist the killed part build her up in the first half make her seem the more important then have her do an Aeris
Richabfilms Well don't preorder until you see if it is good. Otherwise, you're basically saying to Ubisoft "Here you go! More money for a shit game! Keep it up!"
midlifecrisi hates Google + I have posted this so many times...: We are not stupid, neither are Ubisoft. Syndicate fails: AC will be scrapped. No more money for Ubi. No more good entertainment for us. That is a Lose - Lose if this awesome-looking game fails
Still a French person with a posh English accent makes more sense than someone from Crawley with a posh accent, they're dialogue is more "u fuckin wat m8 I'll wrek u I swear in me mum m8, 1v1 me on rust scrub"
Hiphopopotamus no actually it really dosnt make more sense and no ones gonna put up with that accent after playing crysis unless they enlist andy to use his penguin voice
Peter Quill that was only during cutscenes and when he is talking to other npcs sot hat the person in the animus could understand what they were saying.. when roaming paris you may have noticed that everyone is speaking french
Joshcoshbagosh Honestly, I think the main reason they renamed it to Syndicate is so you wouldn't call it AC:V. Because, if you called it that people wouldn't know if you're talking about Assassin's Creed Victory, or Assassin's Creed V: Unity.
mohammed pardawala In my opinion, it wasn't a bad game but it was kind of disappointing. And like I said, taste plays a big role, for instance I'm not a big fan of the whole setting
MrBooommbastic tbh fuck what the reviewers think, look at the gameplay and think what YOU want to think, if you end up spending 60 dollars on it you can always return it, but AC unity is really boring, i enjoyed it but it was probably a good idea to no watch commentators finish the game, then buy it. It sucked for me because i knew everything that happened, and even though i knew what happened it was still a really fucking hard game
Rule to not kill people? "Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent." A true assasin only kills his target and nobody else...that's why the games are supposed to be played stealthily.
2:11 There is a DLC set in 1888 featuring Jack the Ripper as a playable character along with 40 years old Evie. Unlike the main game, you cannot switch between those two, the story forces the character upon you. Most parts are done with Evie. Jack's bits are short and generally very violent and hinting at obvious madness and glee in face of his terrorizing effect on pretty much everyone. Only Evie has a skill tree and combat is fairly unforgiving.
kuledinho Uh nope. Brotherhood was solid despite that it wasn't majorly different and Black Flag was a decent pirate game but it wasn't a good AC game. Anyway mp isn't what made the others shit. The way they implemented MP in Unity was shit and Unity's many bugs, microtransactions etc. are what made it shit.
AC 2 was the best and I agree with what you said about Black Flag, it was a good game but it didn't seem like it was made for the fans from the beginning
kuledinho I don't think if a game has multiplayer or not if factor in if the game is good or not... The time and effort put into the game, the origionality of it, the feel of it when you're playing ect all help make the game good or not
TheBlakamon15 You're really hurting yourself by not getting black flag it was worth every penny, a beautiful open Caribbean setting, fun ship battles, you crew singing, so much fun.
I just visited London not to long ago and I frickin love it. We saw all the major land marks including St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Ave., and Buckingham Palace. Seeing all these places brought to life in a video game is really amazing, and it shows how video games are evolving, as this is something that wouldn't have been possible in the past, at least not on this scale. However, I do hope that the game is playable and decently optimized at launch, especially on PC as I game on PC and don't have the most powerful rig.
you know what i want? a assassins creed game set in 1814 in Norway dealing with our war against Sweden for independedce . You could vist Christiania, Eidsvoll and maybe even Copenhagen you could be a norwegian assassin who wants to do everything for his country and ther are a lot of historical characters you could meet like: Christian Fredrik, Christian Magnus Falsen, Georg Sverdrup and Herman Wedel Jarlsberg. I think that wuld be great and I want to know ur opinion on this please.
Now that you mentioned Batman in your video... AC Syndicate took place ~20 years before Jack the Ripper. Batman Gotham by gaslight took place during Jack the Ripper's time. And the characters in this game uses grappling hooks to swing around. So...
Listen everybody, the Assassin's Creed hate train left a long time ago and it's time to grow up and stop hating on something you clearly haven't played. AC Unity is completely fixed after about a month of release, while battlefield 4 came out a few years ago and STILL needs bug fixes for main features. Assassin's Creed Syndicate looks amazing and I'm pre ordering it no matter what anyone says.
Joe Irvine You sir are brilliant, AC Unity is a great game now and everyone hates in cause of it's release. Does anyone complain about BF4...umm....not at all
SneakyGamer228 You're right. I can understand when people dislike the series (although I love it), but they should just stop complaining then. I dislike the GTA franchise for example, and don't complain under the trailers.
Joe Irvine I know right?! All these angry idiots who have something personal against ubisoft (What did ubisoft ever do to you?) who haven't even PLAYED Unity are hating on it because of its glitchy release. Anyone who's actually played Unity, even the people who were very harsh and unforgiving of it (Like Jim Sterling and Totalbiscuit), even THEY admit the game itself was really good, but it's just the buggy release is what made everyone jump on the hate train.
Agreed! I loved AC Unity. I had a blast playing it with my friends. I can see why people may not like it because of the bugs, but take that all away and you have a solid, fun game. I too was disappointed with the bugs, and I was glad that they eventually patched everything. After that, I was having a grand old time. I feel like people are just too quick to judge and need to the give the game some time, and respect it for what it is.
+Studge The online multiplayer in my eyes was always just a gimmicky and unnecessary game mode that got tacked on to the ac games. This way allowed them to put more effort into the story and side missions/ activities to do in the open world.
***** I give you one last chance in redeeming yourself. Read the title of the video THEN my very first comment, give yourself a facepalm from me and continue on living with shame
Kind of disappointed they're not going to work on and tweak the coop like they should have in unity , hopefully they will take the time to improve said coop mode and make it better for another title in the future.
***** This is a different Ubisoft studio making AC Syndicate (In Canada), Unity was made by the Main studio in France and they're the ones trying to fix Unity.
Zakharius Yeah I would like them to fix the few issues in AC4 as well, mainly the one with the Naval contracts, basically I have one left to complete and its not there. I can go to the location that claims its there, but its not. Its happened to me on both copys of the game I own for the One and 360, both digital.
Pre-alpha they said. But why does a pre-alpha game have: fully modeled and textured enviremonts Active NPC traffic Fully voice acted cutscenes Flushed out combat animations Active random events Etc This is more like a beta of the game, they say 'alpha' to hide the bugs and shitty gameplay
Nightmare Oejay The Rabbit I've loved it since the release of the 2nd, bought the first two and played them through. Why? The parkkour looked amazing on youtube. Its a key aspect and one of the most fun, dont deny it lol
You would certainly think so... Here's to hopting we can unhook those horses and ride them like horses are meant to be ridden! Knowing Ubi, that won't happen. D:
wait. if they're twins, but both playable, then don't they both somewhere down the line (incest alert) have to have children or have their offspring have children in order for the person in the animus to be able to receive those memories? The memories have to be from direct ancestors.
Micah Treptau Does it say that the only logical way for twins to reproduce is incest? (Im not mad. dont read this in a mad voice, think of it as happy joking)
Micah Treptau Uh, getting married and having kids the way normal people do. Although I see where you're coming from. If you can play as both, then that would mean you have to have the memories from both. The only way you can get the memories from both is that they have a common descendant. Although with how the animus works and you don't have to be related to the person to view their memories, they might be able to work around it by saying they just took the memories from two descendants and mashed them together.
***** A: siblings getting married is still incest B: its shown that to be a playable character they have to be a direct descendant C: as I said, you definitely have to be directly related to view someones memories.
Tokyo Working Man I think they kind of put it on hold because hardly anyone in the target audience was interested in it, and because they have to drag Assassin's Creed on for years to come, so they can't make it like a normal narrative. I used to love the whole back story, but it has been frantically disappearing since the ending of ACIII.
AllHeil Heisenberg the entire lore of the franchise is what i'm interested in now. the gameplay has gone stale for me, i just hope that shit actually happens storywise
Can we take a moment to talk about how Ubisoft is trying to make "Edward" and "Jacob" acceptable names again and overwrite the unflattering association they have with sparkly vampires?
- It lacks standalone horses - Ai system meaning that bold guy with the white shirt and sleeves rolled up is the strongest Ai in the game. - same carriage system from Ac2 - dull Ai's awkward stance, along with that guy he killed with the throwing knife the crowd response was terrible - horrible driving meaning kill pedestrian is a thing now - you would assume most carriage drivers would have a distinct uniform - if your gonna kill a guy during a fight you would pull out the hidden blade when punching that way it's quicker... Duh - road is so wide, yea I get it there's carriages in the game but it's awkward with all the free space I know this is pre - alpha footage but we all know the game is ready to ship... So gameplay was terrible, of course it would be better at e3 but that was a horrible reveal trailer, only thing I liked was when he put the hood on and the idea of carrying hidden weapons
I understand that this is an alpha an it's likely to improve in the next couple of months but this is a debut trailer that failed to show anything "innovative" and new it's same mechanics as it was in Unity, I am a huge fan and pre order assassins creed every year but I'm tired like everyone seeing the same thing every year
Simba H Literally everything you said was not true or nit picking. Nothing you said was crucial to the gameplay or overall experience. Are you really that desperate that you're scrambling for things to complain about that don't matter at all?
Simba H Here, let me explain: -"*It lacks standalone horses*". Really? If you have carriages that are faster and have multiple uses, why do you need one horse? People didn't ride standalone horses in the middle of the city in this time period anyway. -"*Ai system meaning that bald in the white shirt and sleeves rolled up is the strongest Ai in the game*" Ummm....what was the complaint? -"*Same carriage system from AC 2*" That's not true. You used a carriage for one mission and it didn't even control the same as this one, you couldn't free roam with carriages in AC 2. -"*dull Ai's awkward stance, along with the guy he killed with the throwing knife the crowd response was terrible*" Who cares about enemy stance? It looked fine to me anyway. What a stupid and unnecessary complaint. And as far as the throwing knife kill goes, if this were AC Unity, everyone would become alert and know exactly where you are, I prefer the enemies being oblivious rather than instantly knowing my exact location. This is actually an improvement. -"*horrible driving meaning kill pedestrian is a thing now*" Have you played the game? Because if not then how do you know what the controls are like? It's your choice anyway. It's your choice to drive recklessly or carefully. Another stupid and pointless complaint. -"*You would assume most carriage drivers would have a distinct uniform*" What? Who the hell cares? -"*If you're gonna kill a guy during a fight you would pull out the hidden blade when punching that way is quicker*" A.....Well.....You.....You're right on that one. Fair enough. Fist fighting should be a choice like previous games before Unity.....Which it is. AHA. Gotcha. At least this was a legitimate criticism, still, you can choose to use weapons or fists, so, your argument is invalid. -"*Road is wide*" ........that's how the roads were in that time period, they don't try to make everything convenient for you, they aim to make an immersive, realistic open world. So there you go, every criticism you made shot down. Gamers are so damn picky these days. But you....holy shit. What do they have to do to impress you?
It's like the star trek movies every odd one is better hoping this is a good one or just decent AC2-Revelations,IV is recommended for your first games in the series
AC's One, Two, Revelations, Black Flag. Those are the best. Start with the first, and follow Desmond's storyline (you'll know what I mean). That was the days of the great Creed games... But the series died wih Desmond...'s storyline. Died with his storyline. Not with him. That would be a spoiler. Definitely play the Ezio trillogy (Ac's 2, Brotherhood, Revelations). Ezio is the best Assassin to date (except Altair from the original... Imho, at least). And now we have French guy, and soon, man in top hat. Yay. Such improvement, Ubi. (That was sarcasm, btw) (PS: why did everyone forget to list the original game as one of the best??? You kinda need it for the story, and it's one of the best games I've ever played. Like, "love it more than AC 2" sort of good, and that's like a /sin/ to some in the fandom. The fact that it's not one of the top three or four on people's lists confuses me.)
They should make one based in WWII, where you are a Polish orphan who becomes an assassin and helps the Polish resistance stop the Nazi Cause. You wouldn't be on the front lines, but you will be fighting in enemy territory and take back Poland and all the other countries fallen to the Nazis.
This will be my first AC game , Will i have a hard time enjoying the game as i have not played any other AC before in my life and im new to this franchise
Well if you look back on the old games is has almost nothing in commun... You wont have a hard time do but I should prefer playing the old games aswell. This game wont give you the ultimate feeling of the franchise
I hope the game is not just about creating a gang and trying to take over the areas the Templars own. There needs to be a bigger story behind it, like someone is going to try and assassinate Queen Victoria because she's a secret Templar and there's a back story of Desmond and Subject 16.
not like that. the assasins are still fighting with the templars and Evie is really focused on finding a piece off eden. So the story is still going. I hope there will be a plot twist that the templars have a piece of eden and use it though. But no queen templar.
So far, this is looking to be a great game. I do have a few issues, though. While I can understand that they wanted a more expansive single player, and I never cared for the player vs player multiplayer, I did enjoy co-op. (I was one of the lucky twelve) There was just something about raiding a castle with three fellow assassins that I really liked. Unless, of course, one of the players completely abandons the mission and goes for the sync points. (While this normally isn't an issue, as three people can easily beat a four player mission, there are some missions where all players must be in a certain area if you wish to proceed to the next objective. If one player isn't there, you have to wait as he runs around the map collecting the sync points.) Anyway, I'll miss the co-op, but I understand their reasons for not including it. Also, I think not setting it around the time of Jack the Ripper will be a missed opportunity. (The following paragraph is something I saw in a comment. I didn't come up with this) It would have been cool if Jack was not a Templar, as so many people want, but an assassin. One of the main characters in the game, acting as both a mentor and a friend. However, as the game progresses, Jack grows more and more irritable. Lashing out without reason, whispering to himself. You're instructed to investigate his house, and find that Jack has gone insane trying to find the Templar Grand Master. Writings on the wall, insane scribbles, papers across the floor. About halfway through the game, one of the other main characters turns out to be a Templar, spying on the Assassins the entire time. This is what drives Jack over the edge. He realizes that anyone could be a Templar, and begins killing people after the smallest hint that they might be a Templar. (An example would be a Templar was disguised as a prostitute, so he kills a bunch of prostitutes out of paranoia that there might have been more than one) Realizing that this has gone too far, you are instructed to stop Jack's murderous rampage, even if it means killing him. After a fight, you and Jack are both wounded. He escapes to a prison, where he murders everyone inside before you arrive. You are now limping through a dark prison with mutilated corpses strewn about the floor. Blood is all over the walls, and the only thing you can hear is your own footsteps... and Jack's maniacal laughter as you hunt down your best friend.
***** Unity had a difficulty curve. It was hard in the beginning, but once you started getting armor and weapons it became easier. Sure, it was still difficult because of the guards constantly using guns... aaand now I have to rant about the bullshit guns in Unity. The guards used guns way too often in Unity. As you're fighting a few guards, one guard standing three feet away from you pulls out a gun and shoots you. At the beginning of the game, this can bring you down to half health. Not to mention that they NEVER MISS. Even if there is a guard standing between you and the shooter, the bullet will go right through and nail you in the chest. Trying to roll? Too bad, your character is still swinging and even after he's done, you have to wait a second for Arno to actually roll, and by then the guard has already shot. Trying to run away? Too bad, guards can hit someone thirty meters away, even if they're not running in a straight line. Oh, that's cute. You think the guards will put away their gun and pull out their sword if you get right next to them. Nope, they'll shoot no matter how close you are. Not to mention that your character is stunned after being shot, giving the other guards a perfect opportunity to hurt you even more. Then you have to go out and buy medicine, which actually increases in price as you progress through the game. I spent more money on medicine than I did on anything else.
Pug Life Yep, it was just the guns that made it diffucult. I once saw a guard on a tower, he started to shoot me and I couldn't roll because there were not any guards around me...
Ok...The Anthropology major in me flipped out a little when Charles Darwin was mentioned. (I could go for some Jane Goodall, but wrong era). Anyways, this game looks freakin' _incredible_ . I hope it doesn't deliver like ACV did.
I'm not really clear on what year this game takes place, but Darwin lived from 1808-1882, so he should be ok. Then again, AC isn't always historically accurate with people and places; Leonardo wasn't in Rome in the time frame Brotherhood happened, so, meh.
Eagl3xStrik3 Unfortunately, Unity is 5, (With Rogue being sort of a 5.5) and Syndicate will be 6. They abandoned the number in the title motif after Black Flag.
3:48 I've learned a nasty way to bring a following cart to a very swift halt: let your horse go, get on the roof and shoot the horse pulling the cart you want to stop. Result is a crumbling horse and a front flipping cart.
Fuck Co-op, the series started as a single player and should remain that way, I never cared for multiplayer and the fact that Ubisoft is taking the game's development seriously enough to leave out MP is a good sign that they have learned their lesson from unity.
John Kirsch and its a good thing it never went through, things have been fine until AC2, the other ACs were OK but would have been better if all resources had been focused on single player, it was especially annoying that there was content that couldn't be unlocked with single player and would need MP and generally online connection to gain access to.
But the big question is...will this game be another half finished Ubisoft monstrosity costing 60 quid and the having the gall to demand extra for DLC and microtransactions without actually working?
F1Fan0001 I wouldn't worry. First of all, it is a different chapter of ubisoft. I think they were the ones who made 2 and 4. Second, it does not have multiplayer so it won't have a many glitches probably. Third, since ubisoft outright apologized for Unity, I feel as though they won;t make that mistake again.
One I'm pretty sure the reason they got rid of multilayer is that the game could be more polished, two no way they would have microtransactions again and three of course there would be dlc every game has it people are just making a big deal of it
F1Fan0001 Another? Unity was like the first Assassin's Creed game to have a buggy unoptimized release. And also they didn't demand extra dlc, they gave it to everybody for free. And IIRC didn't they confirm there would be no microtransactions in this one?
I love the fact that they talk about how this game won't feature anything about Jack the Ripper since it's 20 years before, and then AC released a Jack the Ripper DLC
Quintin Roper They didn't say there would be no Jack the Ripper dlc, they said the main game was set 20 years too early to feature him, which is true. In the dlc the twins are in their 40's. Besides, did you not notice that this was all from pre-alpha footage? It's not like Ubisoft was going to tell people everything back then.
I know. Combat in ac is just animations of attacks linked together by smaller connecting ones. When the netcode is bad it gets choppy and from unity we can see the netcode on this engine is atrocious
One thing unity did do right was the parkour... As it added a directional function AKA up or down... It didnt do incredibly much for ascending, but descending fast witout loosing health was much easier in unity... and it also looked a bit better.
I'm happy to go back to no co-op. Unity's co-op missions never really encouraged co-op (as in actual cooperative) play, so they mostly just ended up being free-for-alls with four players running around doing whatever they felt like until all the mission objectives happened to be complete. I did several of them solo. So yeah, let's just go back to the traditional solo AC experience. If it ain't broke...
FIFA & soccer there's thing called Google which it contain lots of information and u can search almost everything.so go use it and find your answer instead of asking people on RU-vid.
Josh Wright Yeah, it'd be nice if there were just a hood on/off option while you're normally standing up. But, I'd still rather have a top hat than what Black Flag did when you were on your ship.
+The Screamin' Irishman the gameplay was good but the story was confusing, boring, I dint even finish the game. the last assassin's creed game that I finish was assassin's creed brotherhood. the story use to reel me in but now I'm not excited for this at all. the game is getting to modern.
+john jon yeah I think it's getting to modern too but I really did like assassins creed 3 though, one thing I didn't like about black flag is that you were never really an assassin, that's my only complaint.
+The Screamin' Irishman your right, i only got into this series because of ancient history, I like history one of the few classes I enjoyed in high school.
This may sound sad to some AC fans, but I don't buy the AC games for story mode. I'm not into the story mode for some reason. I love playing online manhunt, my friends and I would play that for hours and have so much fun. I guess I'll just have to wait again.
No one ever said "where is the co-op I so enjoyed", that's just what the Ubisoft exec who came up with that idea asked as he gibbered to himself in the corner. I'm looking forward to seeing how this game is on release, I trust these guys to learn from their mistakes and make improvements like they did between AC 3 and 4.
my theory of tophat:if you have seen some jackets with pockets on the inside, that is what jacob probably wears. Then he can squash it on his chest quickly and cram it into that pocket which also contains his weapons
You know what would be a good idea? M multiplayer gang combat. Pick your type of assassins, large battles between real life people and most important clan wars.
I miss the online of assassins creed. Like wanted game mode alliance etc. it was such an exciting thing and not in any other game I've played plz bring that back
well to clear up the top hat thing, when they became popular the tops were actually flimsy so when you went into an opera house or something of that nature you could actually flatten it and put it in your coat pocket. One of those random facts that hold no significance other than this ... so yeah..
I know this is old, but I still think we could see Jack the Ripper. All the various AC games hopped around the entire lifetimes of the characters, so we could see them in the 1880's. After all the twins are only 21 at the start of the game. Their early 40s are still primetime for assassining about, as shown by AC: Revelations. Also, totally calling that one of the twins dies. Likely Evey, as she's the more cautious and it'll likely be inadvertently caused by Jacob towards the end of the story, so we'll get a nice sad epilogue with a much more serious, calm, focused Jacob finishing off the last of the Templars/Hiding some artifact/training some new assassins.
Single player only = great! Thank you for wisely focusing your efforts on one quality mode instead of multiple sub standard/dysfunctional ones. Let Unity be a lesson not forgotten! Now make sure custom KB/Mouse controls are fully integrated once again.
I feel like the ac trailers don't show you the feeling you get from playing an assassin's creed game! At 7:46 however, I got that feeling again, it was great!!!
Am I the only one who wants more a dense atmosphere rather than a big one? Making a map bigger without adding more side activities or random occurences etc. just increases the time it takes to get from place to place, which is just busywork. It's not about size, it's about how you use it.
That's one idea they need in modern day AC, jumping between vehicles during high speed car chases. Effectively, the game should let you play out MI, James Bond and Fast and Furious style vehicle action. Besides that, it should have a bit of Watch Dogs / Arkham series style hacking into CCTVs etc. to get through security. There should be less usage of the obnoxiously obvious iconic beaked hoods, and the option to wear various plain civilian clothes, to literally Hide In Plain Sight. And the beak hoods become the iconic attire only for missions where all out direct assaults on Templar holdings is the objective; where all bets are off, the decision is made to ignore stealth and just openly war on the Templars.
For those wondering about the hat, Ubisoft said at E3 that it is an opera hat, a common hat in those tones that people took to operas, due to the fact that they were conveniently collapsible.
Does no one else miss the hunting from Assassin's Creed III? I really enjoyed it, since it gave me an alternate way to get some cash instead of plundering an entire patrol. That and I loved doing an air assassination on a deer.
In the 18-Hundreds when people began walking with tophats They hid it in the Coat Like jacob But Mostly the people Is haveing a Minor hook they place it on #Outsidexbox Here you go.
I hope they give you an option to disable those way points or that line indicating where your target went during a chase, because the amount of hand holding going on in video games these days is already ridiculous enough. Some kind of difficulty setting for Assassins Creed in general is needed in my opinion to help give the series the edge it needs.
