Brief heads-up about this game that's pretty important. When you properly get into the open world (which should be in the next part), there is an icon on the map that says "Travel to Franciade". *Do NOT* under any circumstances interact with this until you're done with the main story. Because this icon will take you straight to the DLC that takes place after the main game and will spoil the ending of the game and even after that you can't leave until you've gone through a specific part of it. Just thought I'd leave this here, because it's a *really* big design flaw, and it's a problem that will be recurring in future games (notably Origins also has this problem).
I second that, and just to clarify (without any spoilers), "Travel to Franciade" launches a DLC to this game, which takes place AFTER the main story, which is why you should avoid it.
I find it odd that THIS is the game they decided to do that for this game. In all previous games, the DLCs were accessed from the main menu. I suppose they wanted you to take your existing character progress into Franciade?
I don't think the mods are THAT worth it. The game used to be way worse on release, it runs and feels much better now. Also this episode is such an emotional 🎢 😂
The game is definetly better, but Arno still has a mind of his own when it comes to parkour and hiding behind objects and the AI for enemies Is broken... so at least the ACUFixes mod would come in hand
also, you might want to change graphics settings from ultra high to very high, texture pop in isn't as bad then, and tbh there's not much of a downgrade otherwise.
I like the beginning because it actually shows why the Templars become a more secret society by the time of Assassin's Creed 2. Just a few decades after the Mongols attacked Masyaf which caused the Assassins to become more secret.
About the theme music of the main menu: You will only hear the main theme in full on the main menu once you finish the De molay and start Arno's story and you're able to press Start on the second screen where you select if you want to load or start a new game, so in next episodes take the time to hear the main menu again and you'll be surprised :) The song is called "Unity" and you can hear it on Ubi's official music channel on youtube and other streaming plataforms, when heard in full the main theme itself is amazing!(That eerieness you hear here doesn't exist for Unity, it's just for the De Molay prologue.)
wdym that eerieness still contributes to Unitys story as a whole especially Arnos psyche in the game since you'd expect him to be like ezio as many ppl believe that (although alot of ppl don't even get ezio as a whole in the 1st place) or a guy that wants revenge but no Arno isn't like that and is very complexity well written compared to someone like Ezio whos character suffered by how bad AC2s story was but they improved him heavily in Brotherhood and Revelations
I think one thing you’ll notice, Meg, is that this game is unique from all the other games mainly due to it’s ability to generate massive crowds. Seriously no other assassin’s creed game has crowds this numerous or dense! 🤯
Gotta say, the prologue with the Templars and Jacques de Molay is a real event (apart from all the things with assassins and the apple of Eden) for a long time we believed that Jacques de Molay had really cursed the king: "be cursed until the 13th generation of your blood" the 13th generation of this king (Plilippe VI) is the one that will go through the French Revolutio, and yk this revolution put an end to the king's (Philippe VI) bloodline/ monarchy. I find that transition between: De Molay cursed the 13th gen / transition / we play Arno in the 13th gen, too much badass. (Even if recently it was debunked that the curse of the Templars is only a myth bc De Molay's last words weren't about cursing the king's bloodline)
Yes! I have been waiting to see you play this one Meg. One thing truly great about this game is not just the Parkour, but the map itself. The city feels so alive, that it's fun to traverse on the ground and through buildings, not just the rooftops. Enjoy the game.
It's actually absurd how good this game looks. It looks better than most triple A games releasing TODAY. Even some of the newer AC games look worse than this game does (notably Odyssey and Valhalla). Not to mention it has the best freerunning of the entire franchise. Genuinely so disappointed that they didn't go anywhere with a potential sequel.
@@thebaffman4898 yup. Unity still need the highest spec for PC. Even more so than AC Origins, Odyssey or Valhalla. I've played them and I still think Unity got the best graphic than the ones after it
Absolutely, I can only assume they downgraded the graphics a bit in subsequent titles for good reasons (probably put too much strain on performance or something), but dang if this game doesn't still look good.
@@SomasAcademy true. If you looked closely, even Brotherhood and Revelations got the downgraded graphic a little bit than AC II. I've played both the remastered on Ezio Collection and original version on PC and it looks so different
@@gilangwilmantara4494 I'm not sure if it was a downgrade in the case of Brotherhood/Revelations or just a stylistic change - the textures look smoother, which can make the lighting like a bit less crisp, but I think there was technically a graphical upgrade between AC2 and Brotherhood. I could be wrong though, that's just based on my eye.
I remember when Assassins Creed Unity came out, I was in high school and we were studying the French Revolution in our history class. My friends and I were very excited about it, and we pre-ordered the game as soon as we could. I was blown away by the graphics, the gameplay, the story, and the characters. I loved exploring Paris, climbing the Notre Dame, and joining the crowds of revolutionaries. Sure, the game had some bugs and glitches, but I didn't care. I was having too much fun. Looking back now, I think Assassins Creed Unity is one of the best AC titles ever made aside from the OG ones ofcourse. It has a unique charm and a rich historical setting that I still enjoy revisiting. It's not perfect, but it's a masterpiece in my eyes. 😄
My favorite AC game. The only one where I go back to just run and replay stealth missions. Just a few tips: - whenever you chase don't forget about parkour down, you will vault over every obstacle, you can even roll through some shorter rooftops ;) - cherry bombs, they replaced whistling but enemies only react to them when they are in line of sight - you really want to be stealthy. Combat can really get difficult in mid game when your armor isn't maxed out. Smoke bombs are life - berserk dart can be used to stun enemy and get you time to run up to him
As a recommendation, I would tell you not to look at the database of the characters because there are a few spoilers in them and you could ruin surprises. The ideal would be to read them after finishing the entire chain of missions associated with them. The game does not make an effort to update the codex, and puts all its history and intentions from the beginning. I look forward to the next chapters!
26:25 It's not in Unity's cinematic cutscene. But crazy how last game, Shay walked past this scene and went to find Charles and assassinated him. The players got a glimpse into Unity.
God, the romance at the start of this game is just TOP NOTCH. So wonderfully acted and animated. A lotta fun, a lotta charm. I just wish the story had stayed this level of quality all the way through... You've finished this so I'm sure you already know. The acting stays stellar. But the middle up until the end... kinda left a lot to be desired.
Its refreshing to see someone who appreciates all protagonists instead of bitterly hating them based on; not writing, character or design, but on a weird hyper fixated obsession toward Ezio.
So Excited!! I really love this game! Vive la France! The main mod that has gained popularity in the last little bit (ACUFixes) doesn't address any of the small graphical glitches that I'm aware of, it changes some of the gameplay quirks that some have found annoying over the years. The pop-in is mostly unfixable, a product of them pushing so hard graphically with what they were working with at the time. There is a pretty popular physics patch that can fix some of the clothing glitches, but can lead to its own stability issues.
I remember liking this game, but its a scar on my game library haha. I always aim for a platina trophy (PS4) on the games I play, especially the AC series, but I picked up Unity 20 days after its release and there were no active players when I tried to get the last trophies (which needs to be done in co-op). I played it in December 2014 and also returned in September 2016 to play the expansion and try to get the last trophies again, but without luck. xD Edit - Active players probably existed in December 2014, but I have a wague memory of co-op not working properly.
In case if you weren't aware, Arno's father Charles was killed by Shay during the last mission of Rogue. It's neat that Shay's last appearance coincides with Arno's first appearance.
One thing I got to say is that if this game wasn't so bugged at the premiere, this would probably be in top 3 favourite games of most AC fans, it's brilliant for so many things (the most obvious ones are parkour and so many historical characters, places and events)
Even without the bugs it’s not even a top 5 AC game. Let’s be real, parkour is the only thing going for Unity and even that is not the best. Flashy parkour animations (twirling etc.) does not equal good parkour. It was clunky and a lot of the times unresponsive. Everything else besides parkour was improved and polished by syndicate. Just my opinion though I love all AC games.
8:31 The face you make when Assassin's Creed catfishes you into playing a templar yet again (even though this time Ubisoft didn't even try to pretend that wasn't the case)
At last we are here, i love your reactions on the parkour system and the game itself jumping from AC Black flag graphics to a graphic system that can match games nowadays for a 2014 game, this is by far my favorite AC game because i personally think it embodies the whole Assassin feeling and fantasy to us players unlike newer ac games.
I wonder if anyone has told you, but Unity and Rogue released at the same time. This was when the Xbox One and PS4 were new and games were taking a step forward in quality. So next gen got Unity and the previous gen got Rogue. That’s why there’s such a difference between them. There could also be a neat twist if you played Unity first, because you don’t learn until the ending of Rogue that it was Shay who killed Arno’s father.
@@iReiGNxxMeg played Rogue before Unity; her playthrough videos are on this channel, and she does mention the links between Rogue and Unity in this video as well.
@@paperstainedink Yes, that’s why I was pointing out my experience doing the reverse. Since they released the same day, Unity isn’t really a sequel to Rogue.

I love how you read one database entry and immediately recognized Shaun's writing. Also the soundtrack is god tier btw. A must listen.
Meg, I'm on watching you play part 1 of Assassin's Creed Unity this morning and this is going to be really great, have a beautiful cool week, take care and Thank You very much Meg.🤠👍
I’m excited for Assassin’s Creed Codename Red. Finally a full Assassin’s Creed game in Japan. One of the playable Character’s is a Samurai and the other is a Ninja.
Just waking up from work, ready to start this journey. We're finally in the PS4-5 era of AC. The road to Mirage is coming to an end. Also LOVE the hair!!!
You haven't actually heard the theme yet. They purposely keep the theme from playing the first time. Now if you go to the menu, you can hear the new theme "Unity". Or just look for it online.
There is a difference in parkour in this game, you can quickly descend as well as climb. RT + A is to freerun up stuff. RT + B is to freerun down. You can very quickly make your way down the side of the building instead of leaping and taking the fall damage.
This game is my fav. Parkour is its best here. Paris is made 1:1 scale including the Notre Dame in fact, when it burned a while ago Ubisoft let them use their renderings of it to help them rebuild it.
You killed Arno's father when you played as Shay Cormac Meg. I thought you were going to have a flashback when you heard the dialogue between Elise and Arno when they were kids because you actually walk past them to get to his father.
Hellooooo! My favorite ac game for a while hope you enjoy. Some mods I think are interesting would be the transmog outfit manager and maybe the physics patch
I'm so excited to see you play this! I actually am in the middle of my first playthrough as well, so I can't wait for you to see some of the things that happen. Have fun
I honestly can't wait to see what you do with the free running and parkour in this game once you get used to it, I think you'll enjoy it a lot compared to the other games
At 1:15:49 you can briefly see in the subtitles a hilarious response by Elise that you missed. She pretends to be confusing interloper with an antelope🤣
The concept of a modern day in this game is that you as a player are a modern day protagonist, and in later games if they'd stuck with this concept they could develop it further and have some 4th wall breaking things like Kojima did
You still can listen to the full theme in the main menu. AC soundtrack is great in general, but this piece is so... Unity. Love it. Also, I'm dying looking at Arno's little run loll 1:00:03
Some facts about this game. People describe Unity as one of the best parkour systems (mostly because of animations and fluidity). This game has the most NPCs. When the Notre Dame burned down, they wanted to rebuild it through this game. The game has no issues on high graphics on older cards, but higher graphics break cutscenes. The game is 10 years old, makes sense. This game is one of the reasons the RPG trilogy was made, it ruined the franchise in a way. It was so broken and buggy on release that a lot of people left the fan and playerbase. That's why you see NPCs jitter a lot.
La France représente wooo 🇫🇷 This is sad for me tho, I remember having to wait years after I bought it because it was UNPLAYABLE... Anyway I love this game (not as much as Black Flag) what makes him better than the ones before in my opinion is the parkour very fluid (saw you strugle with that before 😂) and the assasination part off it, It's not uncomun to see on YT (name of the mission) pro stealth . Thanks for Uploading so much AC this last few days, waiting extatique for the next one ❤
I love the effort put into this video, from the outfit, to reading all the character descriptions, and listening to the menu music Perfect for an assassin’s creed obsessive like me
Hey meg, this is just a suggestion but if you want to not get frustrated and have way more fun in this game I think it would be great if you watched some tip videos by someone like Leo K because this game can be a bit tricky (and broken at times)😅
It should be mentioned this AC was in a fresh new game engine, hence the updated visuals and changes to a lot of core mechanics. (and bugs on release day). It’s funny because if you play this before seeing or playing Rogue like me, its obvious that they took this game’s asset and poopified them to fit on that xbox 360 generation game lol
Do you think it would have been better to play Unity _before_ Rogue, so that the (ahem) _event_ at the beginning of Unity (with young Arno) could be revealed at the _end_ of Rogue?
Hmm no, I liked this better, because it added a level of guilt and impending doom, and made me care about the characters. But that’s just me personally!
Those "Fun Facts: Are all true" they based most of the game until the Egypt one on written history. Sorry i have to say " Look Up" once in while , there are fireworks at the party in Ep 1 ! Blue Skies and stars and stuff .
Just so you know . . I played this game after half or 1 Year after it's release and I had no problem on console. I think the consoles version does it's thing. Just the PC version could be the case here. I Hope It won't destroy your experience like I heard to the others.
Also.. I appreciate you so much because you stayed and listen the soundtrack. One of my favorites songs from the entire ac series is one from this game. I will let you discover it. It's Ezio's family level I'd say and it kinda tells the story trough the song... Just by listening the instruments ,you can tell what's happening in the story. Same with ac revelations theme song. I don't know if anyone noticed it but the sound of battle it Ezio fighting and the voice it's the suffering it still has in his heart. It's a sad song reflecting his life and when he is close to death the voice goes dowd and riseses and he's rising one more time to fight until his end No spoilers, but the unity's theme song it's the same. Tells a story just through instruments
After you finish the Story,I think, you will hears the song I'm talking about. I think it really intend to follow the story trough the Song. Because when you played this playthrough.. the song began the same as I know ,but it doesn't go how I know it. It's just a glimpse of that song and maybe after you finish it ,you will hear it.
This and AC1 will forever be my favorite Assassin’s Creed experiences. This game would of been perfect if Ubisoft would of let the developers have more time with it. I for sure thought it was proper evolution for the franchise tho, shame the games after this decided to go in a completely different direction entirely
Oh god was this game broken upon release lol 😆 it was the first ac made for the xbox one specifically. Black Flag and Rogue were made with both the One and the 360 in mind.
