I never nail the backing. If it's nailed, then you can't twist it when the wall isn't plumb. 3-4 cabinets will brace each other pretty well, just with the friction from the wall and the bottom of the cabinet. I also never use the white spacers for the same reason. I use cedar shims instead. Cheers !
