Thank you for this wonderful video. I've watched so many and they went so fast and didn't explain anything. You went nice and slow and showed us what you were doing. I love you for making this great video!
Nice instructions there buddy. Just ordered mines today so will watch this video a couple of times over the next week to get me primed for it`s arrival. Thanks man 👍
Again, thank you for showing us this. I got one today (07-07-2021 Wed), because my local costco sold out of it ... and, it scared me. So, I drove 30 minutes to another one where I'd be assured to get one. I got the red one, but I wish I had your color. I got mine for $599, and they weren't on-sale like some people said. But, I'm so happy that I got it. I can't wait to start cooking with it. It'll take me a while to assemble it, because I'm a little disabled now. But, I hope I can figure a way to get it from the car onto that pedestal. But, you helped me to see how to assemble it. I plan to watch this video again. Again, Greg, thanks for all you do for the rest of us in the RU-vid Community.
Nice to here from you again. Thank you for the kind feedback. It is a great bbq for the money. Good luck on the assembly. Empty as much as you can before lifting. Check out my latest video where I hooked up a rotisserie. Just to give myself even more cooking options.
@@GregRocheleau Yeah, it was actually pretty easy getting it assembled. Thank God that I got Costco to help me get it in the car. I have a hatchback (Kia Sorento), so all I did was assemble the legs. Then, wife and I slowly slid it down onto the girders. Not that hard. But, you had a damned hard lift, bringing from ground level to the over-height then setting it down. But, for me, I'm a little disabled, so I have to think ahead on how to protect my previously broken ankle that I am trying to heal.
What are your pros and cons on this grill? I’m looking at one, and comparing it to the vision Komodo at Canadian tire . Has a removable ash drawer , which is a nice feature . And looking at the Komodo Joe at Rona. Undecided which one to get!
Kamado Grills are nice. They are sealed and very efficient. They can do both hot and fast and low and slow cooks. The grill itself will last a very long time. There are no moving parts to break down and you don’t have to worry about power interruptions. The cons There is a learning curve to regulate both heat and smoke. It took me many cooks to dial in the correct position of venting and getting my charcoal to the correct burn before I introduce my meat to the grill. I guess it depends how you intend to use it. I hope this information helps you.
Does it come with an ash tray? Thank you for the video, I see them at Costco and have always wondered how it compares to BGE and Big Joe? maybe a comparison video since you have both.
No there is no ash tray. At the beginning of my spare rib video you can see how I clean the ash out. This is my only ceramic grill. I bought this one because I felt it was the best value for the cost.
I didn’t ask for a specific colour. Black is what was shipped to me. I bought online through Costco. I believe it was 999 Canadian. I can say it is definitely a game changer in bbq for me.
@@GregRocheleau Please, keep making videos. I just finished watching this one. I didn't watch it in full (a month ago), but today is 7-7-2021 ... And, I watched it in full. Very, very funny. I didn't see you in the box last time. But, hey, do keep making LG cooks. I plan to try to marinate some chicken like Pollo Tropical. Ever been there? Damn that place is good. They had some in Houston, but they closed and haven't come back. No one went, but my wife and I went non-stop. It was like CRACK. Serious. Also, we've got a new place here called El Pollo Loco, and I like it too. It has grilled chicken, so I've got to master both chicken and beef on this. I just can't wait.
Greg ... I got it assembled finally. YAAAAHHHHHOOOOOO !!! But, time ate me alive. I didn't get finished until 8:35 or so, and sun goes down in Houston, Texas, around 8:25. So, I dropped some lump charcoal (like your bag or bag from Costco) into it. But, damned, I couldn't get it started. I had one of those stove lighters ... kindof cheap -- if you know what I mean. How do you start yours? I see in videos not to use lighter fluid, so man, is it hard to start this lump charcoal. I screwed with it for 30 to 45 minutes in the dark. I stuck paper in there, and I lit the paper. But, the damned charcoal did not start up. How do you light yours? [Hey, that's even another video idea.] Maybe, make a video on that for people, because these Kamado's are popular now. But, could you just tell me, or I'll try to find someone on YT that shows it. I sure wanted to season it tonight and cook tomorrow, but I guess I'll have to do it during the day. Also, what is the seasoning process? I see somewhere about less than 300F for 1 to 2 hours. I think. Is that what you did? I'll look and try to see, but if you have ideas. Please, do suggest it.
Great to hear you got it assembled my friend. I just use newspaper because that’s what I have. You can use anything you want to light it. But you are right if you use some kind accelerants you want to make use it burns off so the smell doesn’t get into your food. My most recent video I use a fire starter cube. I will show more in my next video based on your suggestion.
I went through many different charcoal grills. This one seems like it will last me a lifetime. I can also bbq in any weather condition. The seal and draft system is a game changer. It has been a learning curve for me but I rarely use my other bbqs now. Thanks for the comment. I hope my answer helps.
@@GregRocheleau ceramics have a lifetime warranty all other parts are 5. Its a solid warranty for the price point. The vent cap needs extra gasket material. I went to sce hardware and got a big green rgg gasket tape and took care of that. The lower vent is a little loose to close and snuff out fhe fire to save the fuel. So i took fhe lower vent out and made a gasket on the backside with some duct tape.
@@GregRocheleau i have a BGE and kamado joe in my arsenal i mostly use this for the large cooks. All i can say is the results are just as good as the otger two manufacturers. I didn’t want to spend 2500 on the BGE XL. One additional thing i do recommend is getting a good tel tru thermometer. For the dome its a cheap upgrade but well worth it. I can tell you with the kamados dont leave the thermometer in there if you are cooking pizza it ruins it.
