@@aswinibajaj, if I understood you correctly, banks have to maintain assets worth 5% of the loaned amounts in their books. Therefore, if a borrower provides say, 10% in downpayment on a home loan, is the 10% not the equity in the home assigned to the bank when its name is on the title deed of the purchased home? Will this 10% equity not add to the assets of the bank, hence, increase its loaning capacity by 20 times(fractional reserve)?

Makes it a lot easy to understand all those documentaries of the crisis.$ 8.4 Billion was the amount of credit default swaps that were shorted. And it was almost a 1:20 profit. There were people who put their brains to work and made money off of this. Big money

Thank you so much. Because of this lecture I could understand what is a bankruptcy-remote vehicle/entity, why Asset Securitisation and Contraction Risk are called so. And this is the first lecture where I got this Time Tranche concept, everywhere else only Credit Tranche or Senior Subordinate Tranche has been explained.

These days with Bitcoins ETFs and complicated Swap structures, it has become very difficult for investors to invest. Can you please make case study reasons for the rise and fall of Shadow Banking like DHFL, IL&FS occurred. You have summarized the 2008 crisis with an awesome explanation.

Sir i have a question. You sadd if it is backed by home loan then it is CMO but when with asset then CDO.. but in 2008 financial crisis the CDO was the major instrument and that was backed by home loans which caused the crise.plz explain

question is if sav ows to pay 400 cr in upcoming 20 years @12% fixed rate suppose. and the receivable amount after 10 years 200 cr for upcoming 10 years at same rate now borrowers pay outstanding 200 cr prepayment at the 10 th years .then why dont sav keep the amount and pay it after every year to their investors as promised . because at 10 th year o/s recieved 200 cr = @12% will going to receive for next 10 year = amount that sav promised to their investors. please explain this.....or are we discounting the 200 cr of time 20th year in time 10 th year and paying it?
