1.)Damage System (maybe not full beamNG but something substancial), seeing toy cars bounce off eachother at 200mph really kills the immersion for me. 2.)Soft Surface simulation for sand, gravel, mud etc. Would open up all the potential of rally, offroading etc.

@@awesomecooly123 the channel said that this "boring" content will be available via mods anyway and kunos should focus on other stuff (that we now have - and we will get in AC2 - via mods.) i think the opposite should happen: kunos should give us all this "boring" official licenced stuff (there is a reason that this content is in every sim: its what the vast majority will race and compete in) and then the modders will give us the targa fiorios and the shutokus. thats what AC1 did succesfyly and i dont know how and why this should be change . we are gonna have any car and track we want anyway, i just think that the competition part of AC2 should be made by kunos and the rest by modders. whats wrong with this?

@@wifiThief Because who actually competes in assetto corsa? The racing community for assetto has been dead since before ACC. The vast majority of the player base is Cruise and Drifting. I think Kunos should cater to there clients. I'm not saying Kunos should not add any official tracks, but I understand Mr. Box's point. I don't think they should focus on that type of content unless it's so easy to port from the old game that it doesn't effect development. I just don't want another boring GT3 racing game again when the whole fun part of assetto was the open endedness that mods added.

I want Gran Turismo for PC. Since I can't get it, maybe Kunos could make a good driving simulator that centers around car culture? Just tying into what Empty Box said as I think it would be smart of them to ditch the race cars and tracks that everyone is used to seeing in a race sim, and leaning into traditional cars that are fun on the road or the track, with dynamic weather and time. They could introduce customizable garages for players to house and show-off cars, and utilize online multiplayer as a way for players to view and hang out at other garages, or do virtual car meets and shows. Thus allowing the community to go hog wild with race circuits, GT cars, open wheelers, custom liveries and garage accessories. Basically, have the smart folks at Kunos make the difficult stuff and leave the easier things to the modders.

Thank you! We are not alone! Decent AI is a must, there's a big portion of the simracing playerbase that either doesnt have the time to commit to a sceduled league or a competitive online race, or just want to race niche stuff thats not GT3 cars. Theres hope next titles, AC2 included, saw what GT7 started cooking with the deeplearning AI and at least wondered how to improve their own.. Kunos could literally sell the same game with a better AI and I would pay full price for it at this point.

That Targa Florio comment made me think, I'd love to see a game decicated to that era of sportscar racing. To take part in the Targa Florio, Mille Miglia or the PanAm-race is in the 50s en 60s. Like, a story based game where you're just a guy who participates in the Mille Miglia, with big, long stages that take 30 minutes or something. Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends had something like that and I think I'd love to see a game pursuing that!

Man, I would love to see big maps as default. A Test Drive unlimited game, with AC physics would be awesome. With the way AI is developing, shouldn't it be feasible to have built in modding tools including AI generated maps, either based on real places using online information (Google maps/street view etc.) or fictional ones following text prompts? If Kunos could implement something like that, they'd win everything.

Ackchyually you don't even need AI generation for that, just vector based generation. Old 90s games like Lotus Turbo Challenge 3 had that. For 3d games it would work great. Select a biome, generate a terrain, generate curves for a track (with parametrized straights, turns, banking, roughness, kerbs, bumps&dips), lay the track curves on top of the terrain and that will get you the elevation. Would be so much better that DiRT 4's tile based maps. Have an algorithm (or the player) place props on the map to make it pretty and u done. If you wanna go the extra mile, you could have weather erosion (cracks, potholes, dirt) and race damage simulation (broken trees/signs, rubber on track, oil slicks, construction work and road maintenance) make the track more realistic.

Parled the car, exited (using VR here) and was just basking in the view till I heard the flat 6 sound of a yellowbird behind me. There he was parking next to me. I hopped back into my car and off we went. No other driving sim ever gave me abythibg close to this experience. That and just taking on the wangan at night in a souped up Supra. I suppose Gran Turismo gave me plenty of that.

As an offline racer, AC2 needs time acceleration, to make practice and qualifying sessions work correctly with multiclass racing. Also the ability to set the fuel loads manually for all AI cars would be a huge help. AC sucks big time when all the AI stop on the last lap of a race because of fuel. AC2 needs to start with AC + expansion packs at a minimum, GT3 cars out of ACC, full weather system, modding, good AI and the ability to create offline championships. It also needs an easy way to create an online server, in much the same way that AMS2 does.

Man the AI thing really resonated with me. I pretty much only play rF2 anymore because the AI doesn't ruin my race (I do enough of that myself already). The modding definitely needs to be integral, but I disagree that modders should be the sole source of actual race cars and circuits. As fantastic as some modders are, they can't always compete with a dedicated studio who knows the game inside and out. Us sim racers are very spoiled right now, the level of detail we get from professional content is insane, and I'd much prefer a laser scanned track with some depth to it than a flat map. Either way, I'm excited to see what the game brings.
@TacticalCardboard
@TacticalCardboard Год назад
Modders will port basically all the original content as they have already done. Several ACC tracks have been back converted to AC, and afaik most of tracks in ACC were largely carry forwards of AC tracks. We're past the point where tracks are outdated in terms of resolution and detail by the time the next game comes out, so there is no need to keep churning and recycling the same content when the community is more than capable of doing the same.

@@TacticalCardboard The issue for me is that approach can quickly become a deterrence. Let's say I want to drive something like old DTM's on Nurburgring. So first I need to sift through various mod Nurburgring and find that one that looks good in-game, but also has all the AI stuff correctly set. Then I need to repeat that for DTM mods, and this time I also need to make sure their performance is balanced, so the various mods together can yield a good race.. Or, I can fire a sim that already has this.... With the few hours I have during the week, I don't feel like spending the majority tinkering with mods... I'm past that phase ;) Mods are great, but for me, they shouldn't be a cop-out for the dev to do not provide solid content base.

Proper ai pit stops or at least ability to manipulate ai so they have to pit in any one race. Also I’d like to see the a Nords track day simulator if possible to have fast and slow ai lines where when you come up to someone slower they move to the right (slow ai line) then move back to fast ai line and even add scenarios where there has been incidents where you have to slow down and a recovery truck now and again taking a wrecked car back around the slow line also maybe a little bit of open world around so that you could go to petrol station and drive down to the ring etc.

Bring back the upgrade system that rFactor offered. This way we can finally start working on having 1 single car with various upgrade options from body kits to wheels etc. It's so tiresome finding the same 20000 mods of the same car over and over again when majority of them could be simply be body kits for an already existing model.

Totally agree here! Assetto Corsa is the only true sim out there that for me (through modding), captures normal cars, real life public roads and true driving experiences. So many sims get trapped in the 'slick tires only, race tracks only, racing racing racing'. Its the Forza Horisonts for people who like it real. Do more of that! 1: Focus on car culture stuff - Stock, JDM, Vintage, Eurotuners, Musclecar tuners and so forth. 2: Immersion - Proper implementation of traffic, day to night cycle, weather, light, sounds 3: Great foundation for modding 4: Make driving heaven environments - New Zealand, Scotland, The alps, Japan, Norway - the world is your oister

The main thing I try to keep in mind with a 'wishlist' is it can't just be everything. It's easy to say "just put the best parts of ACC, LFS, AC, and AMS2 together" but only really worth talking about if you can say which features are mandatory and which you'd give up to get them. Personally, I can do without rain. It's nice to have, I would use it. But if it comes at the expense of making modding more difficult. Or reducing quality across the board to hit performance targets. I can skip it. My modding hope is that 'total conversion' style mods get supported well. So I pick "1967 F1 season" in a menu, and from there out it's a custom UI designed for that purpose, able to track your progress in whatever ways it sees fit. It is technically possible to do this in AC with a standalone exe, but making it more of a scripting exercise opens up a lot of opportunities. Use the game's own 'career mode' as an extended example of what's possible, then let modders decide what era/motorsport they want to focus on. Ideally, make it flexible in content, so if a user has "Spa 1967" then a 1967 series will use it, if they only have "Spa 2023" then that gets substituted as painlessly as possible.

I think the key with modding, is that they need some way to upgrade them from AC1 to AC2. If they can provide an auto-upgrader, then they'll instantly get all of the AC1 content which would be awesome. They may not look as pretty as what they should do, but they'll still be there, and the modders would then just need to upgrade them a little over time.
@erwinlommer197

I strongly disagree with this one. I think kunos should encourage scratch made content over conversions from older sims. New scratch made content will look better in ac2 which in turn makes ac2 look and drive better. I'm not against people doing conversions but I'd leave it to the original developers of the mods to do them properly. They have the original 3d files, textures and physics spreadsheets so they can also fill in the blanks and update as necessary. Imho a conversion tool will only lead to "unofficial" third party mods of mods with inferior overall quality and issues nobody cares to fix. Not to mention having such conversion tool done and kept up to date is a lot of development effort and I'd rather see that kind of effort spent elsewhere. It gets even worse when you have lots of people using that single button conversion tool who have no idea how modding even works. Spend that effort making better sdk, better tools and better documentation. In the end I think early on there will be conversions anyway. Early gran prix legends modding content was conversions from older games. First rf1 mods were conversions from older games. Same with rf2, ac1, n2k3. All of that content is pretty much done for the sake of having it be there until something better comes along. It is all placeholder stuff and after 6 months everybody will have uninstalled them anyways.

Excellent points. I don’t play much AC (if at all) but I see the merit and value it’s cruise and drift servers bring to the community. I’d like to see the open world concept taken a bit further in terms of modding - have the ability to easily implement some forms of road, then have the user easily dictate and manipulate things like S/F, timing lines and the like. So in theory you could create a “map” of a location easily, then define some form of circuit within in. If there’s a way of speeding up the creation and import of stuff like trackside assets, you could have the ultimate sandbox. Who needs licensed tracks where you can easily create any street or road circuit anywhere? With enough forethought you could even be able to link sections together like real life Special Stages with road sections. Or just remake all the terrible Imsa street tracks of the late 1980s because *why not* 😂

Here’s what I hope to see: - Bigger roster of cars and tracks by default. Before you tell me there will be mods, I know. Thing is, mods vary greatly in quality. Many being sub-par, which I just end up removing, so I stay away from mods if possible because I prefer consistent quality. - Better AI like you said. I don’t have time for big league races or custom servers. I like to jump on for 20 minutes and run a race my own way with my own car of choice. - Dynamic weather conditions (rain, snow, etc). - City maps for cruising. Not just highways, but an entire city with working streetlights and whatnot. - Better physics and tire modeling. Could just replicate ACC’s I suppose. AC feels outdated and like everything is on ice. I’ve driven a lot of high performance cars hard in real life, and not once did it feel like I was on ice.

Totally agree. They should set the bar high for the cars they create. They are experts in GT3 & GT4 replication in ACC, they should bring that in there to set the bar to a high standard (for modders). I want quality content, that racing drivers also want to driver and use. I want as close to the settings for TC (1/2) & AC, and other technical options on cars. Kunos should make example content, and add to it. To show off what is possible, to raise that bar. Whether this is with another class of car, exotic series, or whatever, I don't care. I love different series. But they need to give it all that detail. Because then, only then, we can rely on modders and vice versa. Look at how ACC changed the game. A lot of GT3 & GT4 drivers really use this stuff. The detail KUNOS gave there, on those cars and tracks, made it so that it was still a game, but acceptable enough for a real driver to practice; or a simracer to go into real racing.

What I would love to see if they go down the whole cruising route is take the idea of horizon, test drive and the crew and take it to the next level. Imagine you load into the game and you select the server based on the map you want, West Coast of the USA, Tokyo Express Way, Alps of Europe etc etc. You choose the road car you want from hot hatches, to super sedans to hyper cars to something special like road legal 962s. You can cruise around the open world roads and there are cafes/petrol stations that you can drive to and see other players cars parked inside to join them. In there you can suggest events like challenge a certain player to a 1v1 along a road, or a road race anyone can join or drift battle or some crazy other type of event on the roads around the cafe. You drive to the start point, lining up in the order you arrive and from there you guys start and once you finish you can drive back to the same cafe or head off to the next one looking for the next challenge. All of it happening seamlessly with no menus or separating the racing events from the rest of the players in the open world. People driving around can see your race going on and watch your drift battle. And the ultimate twist in all this, is that you discover that half the drivers you've been seeing and racing are actually AI that have been learning how to drive the roads and race wheel to wheel by watching the players similar to GT7 Sophy.

In my eyes, Kunos should really just accept that AC got popular because it was UNLIKE other racing sims. There were hordes of public roads and street cars. That's why I've always viewed ACC as a bizarre ass pseudo-sequel: it doubles down on hardcore motorsports simulation when AC just kinda sucks at that to be frank. If they double down on racecars and the like, what makes AC2 different from every other sim? I boot up AC to chuck a street car down the LA Canyon roads or Japanese mountain passes, and I hope AC2 still allows for that. I agree with you on the "no racecars, hell maybe no circuits" thing. AC2 just being old-school Need for Speed/Test Drive but with incredibly realistic sim physics would be my preferred direction.

I think both serve a different market. I think of it like Forza Motorsport and Horizon - "same" series, but two different aims and directions. AC and ACC don't need to be as different as the two Forza franchises, but there is definitely space for a more contained "serious" environment of ACC and a sandbox environment like AC IMO. I don't think they eat each others' market share that badly. So long as it's moddable, twisty public roads will be a thing.

The problem with relying on modders for content is that about 80% of mods are trash. Creating and maintaining a good mod (that isn't an illegal rip) is a huge amount of work, especially tracks, and/or requires a lot of in depth knowledge and access to data. Not to mention legally difficult if you want real world content So then you rely either on the good will of a tiny handful of the people who actually know what they are doing to produce free mods (like Lilski tracks), or you have to pay the likes of VRC or RSS. Which I don't mind doing, but as anyone who has ever run a league will tell you, getting people to pay for mods is like pulling teeth. While I agree with a lot of your ideas, I think AC2 needs to include a decent set of first party tracks and track cars, as well as baked in, well documented and officially supported modding API's.

I agree with the first Half of the video, although most of what you're saying is "Please include the good aspects of AC1 combined with the good things from ACC". The part about not including race cars and circuits is where it gets weird. Kunos already has a ton of cars and circuits from the previous games, I think the least we could expect is to see most of those back. But I'd also like to see each class have more than one car as opposed to some random car from each class of a particular area.

I tend to disagree about the base content. Mods are good in AC1 because we are 10 years later, and we kept in memory the few VERY good mods with good physics, sound...and often you have to pay for them. As I played since the beginning of AC1, I've mostly used the official content and track. They have all the OEM data to build the car correctly, to properly record the sound and have a perfect 3D... They those cars feel right. They are also the state of the art, therefore mods have to match them at least. Official content need to be huge. And let's remember how well the DLC "Dream Pack #x" worked on AC, people wanted the official stuff above all.

I agree with all your points. All Assetto Corsa 2 needs to do is to give us endless features. Forget the cars and the maps, modders can provide that. We need a vastly improved lighting system, replay system, camera tools for edits, optimisation etc. Bring in all the progress made from ACC in the physics. Take content manager and crank it to 12. Just the smoothest foundation possible for the community to go absolutely wild for the next decade.

AI as top priority - 100% agreed. I am not so positive about the modding community though. Today in AC we have some payware (and if you compare to the price of the game, very expensive) quality cars from pro modders, a bunch of patreons and paid crap conversions, and very little genuine free quality mods. If you take all mods for AC maybe 1% reaches the quality of Kunos content, probably less. I would be glad if we got a lot of stuff officially, racing and cruising alike.

What got me excited about Assetto Corsa 1 back in the day was road cars! They were the first proper take on the Nissan Skyline's ATTESA ET-S 4WD system that behaved like the real car would, everyone else just made it AWD with a 40/60 split front to rear and called it a day. THAT is the sort of detail I want from the game, technical unique behaviour and then of course the ability to tune it (Mess with engine and suspension components) and toy with on a street, track or highway. I got 60% of the way there with AC 1, so more of that with AC 2 would be ideal for me.

One important technical feature that's desperately missing is the ability for the game to load in parts of the track map as needed. A track like Nordschleife (let alone LA Canyons or Shutoku) takes a long time to be read into the game engine because ALL of it is read into the game engine, including the parts you won't be seeing for at least a minute or two. Even loading only half of the map initially and then streaming in the rest of it as you wait on the grid would make a massive difference to load times.

I want the opposite of what you want, and want what was in AC1 but bigger and better. More realistic physics, modern gfx. I want rally stages and hill climbs, but I want quality from Kunos and not half-baked and inferior mod content. I want attention to things in AC2, that needed more attention in AC1. More quality expansions to cars and tracks via DLC. New motorsport options by DLC. I don't want ripped/converted content from modders tbh. I liked historic cars from different decades, so old tracks and cars would be great in my mind. The thing is, with all they've learned doing work for the official SRO stuff - it will make AC2 a much better experience. Time will tell for what we get, but we have plenty to get excited about AC2 regardless.

Better AI, proper changeable accurate to location and season weather, start types like rolling and rally starts, a car class system that works for road cars which some people like to race would be my short list.

Something conspicuously missing that would be a good addition: Hotlap leaderboards with ghost cars. ACC has a very minimal leaderboard implementation with special events, but it should be expanded. Helps a lot to provide an element of competition that doesn't rely on arranging a whole race. AMS2 has this function and it really helps provide something to aim for and compete over considering the relatively inactive multiplayer otherwise. RSR livetiming exists, but Kunos should do it officially, and find a way to make it work with modded content too.

My vision of Assetto Corsa 2 is basically all you said in this video, with a few extra bits: - The career mode needs to be an ACTUAL mode, something that has depth and extremely playable. It would be awesome if we can start our careers doing street races in shitboxes and gradually moving all the way up to Formula One and/or another high-profile series. A career mode would give players a taste of the different types of racing and imo that's extremely important for a sim. - Tuning cars needs to be an official feature. Say that you want to do an engine swap or change a car's steering rotation in AC1. You can't do it within the sim, rather you have to duplicate the original car and modify that. Tunes could be saved in a drop-down menu on the car's select screen, which you can then choose between multiple tunes (or simply run a car bone-stock). - Real-life motorsport rules should be able to be put in place. I don't even think iRacing has this, but things like enforced track limits and realistic race control (e.g., you can't weave on straights in F1) would be huge. Rolling starts would be nice to have too. - Graphically, AC2 should have settings to make the game beautiful. Global illumination, soft shadows, and ray-traced reflections should be available as options in the settings. PBR materials should be standard for everything as well. - AC2 should make modding more consistent and easier. For example, car mods should be required to have a damage model and a dirt texture. AC1 mods coming into AC2 should have their materials updated to PBR if they aren't already. An official tool to help with making mods *and* to convert AC1 mods would be nice to have.

So on my wishlist: 1. AI - better and more adjustable 2. FFB from AC1 3. CM&CSP features and functionality - I want to have all options modders gave us from day one 4. Better collision model - both for tires (to avoid killer curbs from AC1) and cars themselves. Even if it's obvious there won't be any softbody collisions, adding some "elasticity" to avoid cars glitchwelding or bouncing from each other would allow proper leaning and light contact during races, especially online 5. Tracks - Circuits must stay although I'd prefer focus on smaller and historical tracks. I wish much more regular roads and drift tracks (both real and fantasy ones) that would be accessible in closed race course and public road layouts. 6. Cars - I don't want random cars sitting in the vacuum. I want them to focus on touring vintage and road cars. Especially lower performance ones. I also want to see complete classes (so no early M3, late 190e and 155DTM built under different regulations mashed up into single class). If they are giving us road cars again, I want some kind of "N classes" (fixed setup cars cars kept stock with restrictor/ballast for BOP) and "Tuned" (similar to AC1, road cars with basic bodykits and performance mods but better BOPed and more similar visually - sth similar to pro-tuned class in RaceDriver:Grid) And ofc modding.

Ideally Kunos should continue support for ACC into the future, as it doesn't sound like the SRO license is going away any time soon. Use that as the "e-sports" platform going forward. AC:Evo can be a fresh new thing, using all the things learned from the past two games but completely removed from esports. I have no idea what the base game should look like, just that it supports mods, has bangin' physics and actual good AI. I loved your idea about the Targa Floria, or the California Highways from PCars2. Stuff like that would be awesome for AC2/Evo. I also just want Kunos to continue taking that SRO license deal seriously and include stuff like the new Japan Cup and another GT4 update in ACC. I don't want to see them abandon that, they have something special there.

Agreed to most points, especially AI, it was always a pacifist in AC, and that was not good, an AI in a racing game should be in a grumpy mood, to put it this way. My standard for good racing AI is Raceroom. I think its excellent (driving with skill levels from 96-98) Important to me is also VR. It works well and smooth in AC even if the menues are 2D, but the racing in VR works rock stable for me, and on my now 5.5 years old hardware. VR must work well like in AC, then I am happy. As they say nowadays: no VR - no buy. If my CPU and GPU do not get fried like was the case with ACC in the early months of it (they brought the temps on my rig down from 95°C (!!) to normal mid-70s, all due to code optimzations, I assume). VR and AI, that are my two big points.

I agree with some things and disagree with others. I just don't see the need for ai for example. Ac was online experience for me and I'd wish even more focus was put into online features, even at the cost of ai. Also I'd want a ton more effort being put into easier way to install mods quickly. And even download them inside the game when joining a server. Ac1 modding was great but the getting the mods part was a bit too manual. This also means the game official content really matters because that is what people will drive 90% of the time. Even in ac1 online is 99% no-mods because of this. Official content is also a seal of quality. A mod can be anything. I really don't want ac2 to rely on modders to bring in key content. Rf2 tried to just provide a platform and then told people to just figure it all out on your own and make the content you want. Didn't work. For tons of reasons but it just didn't work. Imho the devs really need to lead the charge and put variety of high quality content into the game and then let modders do their thing. Modders are not incentivized to fill gaps in the game. They want to create content they want. Which can be 1920s race cars, pigeons or saturn rockets. Some things like group c, hypercars, gt3, lemans protos, iconic supercars, touring cars etc.. are just too big of a gap to be left out hoping that modders just come and fix it. The key content every game has needs to be there because that is where the majority of people start with before they branch out. Without it the game is just too niche. The common content is like a glue that holds all the niche things together. I also disagree with the idea that racing games have become stale so ac2 is the game that needs to spice it up. To me ac1 was so fresh that it is still fresh. I don't think ac2 needs to change direction. Every other game does. I think ac2 should double down with what ac1 started but just more of it. Racing, modding, variety. There simply is nothing like it out there. Also a lot of people want rain in ac2. I want dirt physics. Rally in all of its variety was totally missing in ac1. Let's add some gravel and see what happens. I'm not saying don't add rain but gravel was such huge missed opportunity with ac1.

The thing with the AI is that it can be quite good if used right, but very few people do - even Kunos themselves. There are essentially three main lines on every track; the inner boundary, the outer boundary, and the optimal line. The optimal line is simple, you just run a good lap and that's it. This depends on the talent of the guy running that line. Where it gets juicy is the inner and outer boundaries; by default, these just very simply follow the edge of the track. This means that the AI view every inch of asphalt as viable space in which to overtake, when in reality it doesn't work like that. There's a certain "no-man's land" on the very inside at corner entry which you basically never drive on in a normal one-on-one overtaking situation, same too for the very outside of a corner. In a regular overtake, the guy ahead defends, then moves back out leaving a car's width yadda yadda yadda - point is, both cars are on the outside of the track. Using the first two turns at Barcelona as an example, to set the left boundary you would drive as if you're going arouuund the outsiiide of a guy in T1 - so wide, but not all the way out wide - but he managed to hold on so you have to compromise exit for T2. Opposite for the right boundary, you'd be all the way right on the straight, but come back left (leaving a car's width,) enter T1 compromised, and leave racing space on the apex in T2. Sounds complex in text but just stick to one side of the track and imagine you're fighting a car beside you constantly. There was an AI mod on RD called the IMSA Champions AI Mod which was built with this exact method. It's sadly been taken down, but it was absolutely brilliant. AI not being able to handle three-wide is a thing that you'll never iron out, but overall they were faster and acted more naturally wheel-to-wheel. It was like a whole new AI system. I've always had the idea to carry on that legacy and release a mod like this for all of the stock Kunos tracks, but it's a time sink. I'll try and get ahead on work so I can give it a shot sometime.

Now that all simulators have decent graphics, the new thing everybody says is "of course simulators don´t have good AI or career modes, that's for arcade games!", it seems only reasonable that if somebody makes a simulator with AI and a good career mode it will proceed to revolutionize the genre.

AI is really of the utmost importance. I'll build on what a few people have said about your suggested content approach, I don't know if I'd rely on modders, especially if Kunos doesn't provide like examples first. For that reason I am on the complete opposite end. I want Kunos to do complete classes. If you are going to do Group C, give me the entire 1989 WSC field. If you are going to do WTCC, give me the entire 2023 field. If you are going to do Group 5, give me the entire 1981 DTM carset. Even if the base game only does a handful of things, say a few real cars and an open world map, Italian F3, and it carries over the SRO GT licences and models, knowing that once a year a completely new and supported series is going to come in I think would keep me invested. Then I think modding can come in to hit what Kunos misses. Can't get a license for a certain American openwheel series? Modding saves you there. Can't be bothered to make a historic track? Modders can solve that. If they did that, and added custom rulsets to match when a series is added, I'd prefer that over hoping modders can pull the pieces together. I think sim racing needs focused titles, and I think this would be the best way of finding peace between the expectations of AC2 and the need to have high quality content that works on well on launch day.

Suspension, tire choices, exhausts, weight reduction, turbo mods, roll cages. And then, when it comes to the career mode, please shamelessly copy Gran Turismo 1-3 (with tuning!) or just skip the thought entirely. Finally, give it some polish. Release it when it's done, leave the beta testing of an incomplete game to the beta testers, and don't release it in a state where you have to catch up all the time.

I'd like either a hyper-focused racing sim based on real racing or a wide variety of street cars and big maps based on real roads (like Pacific Coast Highway, LA Canyons, any maybe even Nurby as the one actual race track). What I don't want is the random smattering of content approach that everyone does now, including the original game. I think part of the reason everyone drifted to GT3 cars in the first game is because they were the only cars that really had anything to race against. The content I spent the most time with were the classes that had more than 1 car (so GT3, basically), single-make race cars, and more recently I mostly drive lightweight street-legal sports cars around PCH and LAC. There are race cars I want to drive in AC, but they're often cars with nothing to race or, in the case of all the 1-off Le Mans cars, nowhere to race. I know the driving will be great, just give me content that makes sense. If you're gonna give me a 917K, give me a 512S, a 908/03, a T33/3, etc. and some historic tracks they raced on. If you're gonna give me rally cars, give me stuff that actually raced against each other at a specific time and place, a bunch of rally stages, and a co-driver system. If you're gonna give me a pile of street cars, give me some real roads to drive on with traffic and laws and maybe Nurby as a testing ground. Just do something focused and consistent, I'm completely over the "here's 1-3 cars from this racing group that probably never actually raced together and some street cars and some random tracks" thing that everyone is doing now.

I recently drove my first iRacing AI race and I must admit I am very plesantly surprised. And while 1 race shouldnt be enough to completely judge the AI, it felt so natural and good that I would already call it the best simracing AI I have ever raced against. Even other sims that are considered, that I considered, to have good AI pale in comparison. As for AC2, good AI would be great. An actual single player would also be lovely. It doesnt have to be a high budget story with lots of cut scenes, just a budget Gran Turismo Single player would be enough for me. Improved graphics with good optimization and overall be more user friendly. Setting up a multiplayer server required an engineering degree it feels like. Have it be as mod friendly as possible, hell, Kunos could make the best mods official content, so console folks could also enjoy some of the high quality mods. Other than that, as an endurance guy, Id like night racing, rain, driver swaps, possibilities for 24h races. Basically stuff you can already do in AC but more refined. I wouldnt mind prioritizing the plattform of AC2 over content since AC1 had quite a lot of content which isnt completely necessary since the game is so mod friendly and some of the mods are even of higher quality than Kunos own content.

I just cannot comprehend the AI thing. Everyone's been saying that AC's AI is bad, yet AMS gets praised so much for theirs. I have never been in an AC singleplayer race where the AI would consistently crash me out on the first lap or any lap for that matter, but I've had many such occasions in rf1 based games. Some classes in AMS are truly undriveable in SP unless you're starting at the back of the grid and waiting for the cars to spread out. Yes, ACs AI can be slow, but IMO, being able to race them without crashing is the highest priority.

im not a competitive guy so drifting and cruising is all i do as a "sim racer" and i think drifting is also a big part of assetto so i would love to see ac2 with more official drift cars also a better damage model would be great i mean if we could have beamng damage model with assetto's physics that would be a dream..

I hope it will be like AC with even better mod support, physics ... more maps like cities, more JDM cars ... it's surreal how good AC is with just a couple of mods, I came from FM7, no hate but as soon as I stepped in AC, I forgot about FM7 ...

One thing I don't like is that you obviously don't differentiate between moddjng meaning creating stuff from scratch and just ripping shit from everywhere else. When you say "Nürburgring will be in it after three days" - yeah, ripped/stolen from somewhere else in shitty quality. What made AC modding so good was the initial official "go west" attitude of people actually creating stuff on the official forums.

I think the most important thing they need to do is create a physics engine that’s easy to understand and manipulate, whilst also being incredibly in depth. Good aero, tyre, suspension and chassis physics at launch would put the game in a really solid position for community to go wild and make loads of great mods. Also, a poor area of the original game was the complete lack of configuration of the session, i.e rolling starts, track limits, driver swaps etc. again, if they have these at launch, the game will be in a very good place.
