AC may just be the greatest racing sim of all time. Thousands of hours down and wanting more. I hope AC2 keeps that momentum alive.

The community aspect of it got me into livery making and probably the biggest influence: Photography. Its amazing how deep the photography rabbit hole goes and how strong the urge to take a good photo or two everytime you drive😂

Not forgetting what camtool brings to the experience of this game! :)) For me AC is indeed a way of life!

I only started playing modded AC this year thanks to moving on PC from consoles. I could only experience the basic PS4 AC and still thought it was incredible. But yes I agree, modding has transformed the game. When I started playing modded AC, I litterally cried when driving the Cayman GT4 on LA canyons. Yes, tears just because of the joy of feeling the car like I never experienced it before on any racing title. And also a massive laugh of joy pretending to be Chris Harris when drifting a 1M around the Anglesey circuit. And later I had my first lap around the Targa Florio racetrack currently in Work in Progress made by Abulzz which has reached a level of details never ever seen before making me feel like Nino Vaccarella. Anyway, this "Sim" is more than what it is and I cannot wait for the future possibilites of modding as it litterally brings experiences we would never ever get from any mainstream games. Thanks for this love letter RC!

Assetto Corsa allows me to create driving games I want to play but nobody makes them.

Yeah, I love the entire work flow of AC for mods. Content meager, a few bucks for direct downloads and take what you want. Tracks, cars, effects... Drag and drop installs, it's great

I haven't been right since I got Quest 2 VR, 12GB GPU and Assetto Corsa with Logitech G29 and a racing rig with a racing seat. My mind is blown daily.

Thanks to modding, it became a car sandbox. That's it. It has the same type of creative community behind it like your typical sandbox games: Minecraft, Roblox, Terraria, Valheim, even BeamNG.

AC (with sh!tload of mods) and Dirt Rally covers pretty much all racing sim needs for me. I really feel bad for all upcoming sims... And cannot even comprehend what AC2 should do to compete with AC1.

In every racing game there are things that you will not like and things that are missing,,, except in assetto corsa. In AC + CM everything is just how it should be,,, but in case that there is something you don't like much, well, you just change it. Perfect!

Assetto Corsa's biggest draw to me is the swathes of historic content available for the sim; at this point every decade in automotive history bar the 1890's has at least some form of representation in the sim; from the dawn of the automobile with the 1886 Benz Motorwagen, to the bleeding edge of current-year top-class racers. It's quite feasible that one could make a car documentary using AC to help convey the narrative.

Nothing really special if someone are in Simracing for 20 years... rFactor was community building tool back in the time and now with generation change it's completly forgotten

I have it on PC and PS4 (the Ultimate Edition). I have my driving seat attached to PS4 only. Believe me, just the PS4 version has so much content that keeps me busy for a lifetime. The gameplay is identical. The community stuff is great but it's a great game in its own right.

My personal favorite is police chases in nfs underground 2 map. Fun stuff

Assetto Corsa is the best sim to run in VR. Really good performance. Was able to run it on GTX980m. And on RX6900XT it looks so crisp.

What the man said! I've been away from sim racing nearly on 10yrs, basically when Rfactor 2 was still in Beta. I've just got back into sim racing after finding replacement pedal parts for my aging G25 wheel. So I installed Rfactor(still have a collection of mods) Rfactor 2/ AC/ ACC and AMS2 and found ACC wasn 't my cup of tea, RFactor 2 was taking for ever to load so gave that a miss, then played AMS2(with 1.5 update) it was nice & pretty and everything thou it was just lacking mods, and so.... here I am.....hooked into AC with all it's glorious mod selections and awesome plug-ins!. Having so much fun driving a GT-R 2000 around some awesome recreated classic tracks, so much to choose from that I don't know what to drive sometimes lol Thank you Modding community!

There is a pretty direct precedent. If look back in the day (1998 - roughly 2005), the parallels to Grand Prix Legends and it’s mod communities is striking. At least to an old timer like me.

I'm still messing with filters myself and after trying quite a few I have actually gone back to Pure Default with the latest lights patch from Ilja Jusupov. It seems to be that every mod track has different light settings and its gets annoying trying to tune it for each one but Pure default looks great in most of them. AMA PP filter can look incredible for photos but I'm mainly just racing online so just want constancy. Assetto Corsa after all these years feels like my favorite jacket, a sim thats the backbone to my sim racing hobby for testing my home brew hardware, it just constantly scratches that itch I have for racing online. its going to be a tough one to beat for another decade.

Kunos has quite a task ahead trying to please every niche within the community. 😄

the main reason it has growing player base is because it’s cheap on sale, like $2. it’s the first sim people get on buying a wheel before trying other sims. the mods are a byproduct not the cause.

Hello! Great channel!!! My uncle wants to start PC SIM Racing in a budget and he doesn't know how to start. From the PC itself to the monitor and base wheel, it's been really difficult to get into this specially in Portugal. Even from me, I want to help him on this, but I'm a console guy that owns an entry Thrustmaster T150 Pro and I'm not so experienced in SIM Racing community. Do you have any videos about this? Or any Ideas to give us? Also, which simulator is better? iRacing? Assetto Corsa Competizione? Neither of them? Thank you and Cheers.

I never played AC. Is there a good guide for someone that's starting? Like installing mods, what mods are "essential" and so on..

the only downside of assetto is the mod making community which they can be a bit(a lot) elitist, just like the bad experiences you had with the touge community back then. I used to make mods for assetto and it was tons of fun, just don't have the available time for it anymore

Content Manger is a monstrosity. The good kind if you're in deep but a disaster if you just want to have some fun. If CM had automatic mod download, something like, when you spin a server, you define dependencies, and these links to download the mods you need. I have so crap in CM, I need a clean install, but I'm scared of doing it because of so many things needed. Why do I need clean install, you ask. Because I'm getting errors trying to connect to servers.

It will live on for quite a while. People still play and mod Grand Prix Legends 25 years later. AC2 could be better if they made modding easier and bundled tools to mod.

I have just started sim racing like a month ago .. and got pure yesterday and been racing on lfm and i also bought asc few days ago and im playing that too as most gt3 races in lfm are paid content

Assetto Corsa still has the best physics of any driving simulator, it's a solid base for modders to build off of. When I first got the game, my only complaint with it was that the controller support was terrible compared to other games, so a wheel was required. But now there's CSP GamepadFX scripts like A7Assist that give AC better controller support than any other game... It's crazy how the modding community carried AC to legendary status. Sure there's better games for competitive/ranked racing, and there's not really any offroad gameplay, but if you just want to _drive,_ AC is the best. Also the community is awesome. There's barely any toxicity, and the regulars on servers offer advice and tuning setups to help newer players get faster. It's completely different from tuning on games like Forza Horizon where setups are closely guarded secrets and the only way to know specific settings is to ask the creator, in AC if you get given a setup, you can analyze it for yourself and make changes.
