Hence Starfields, Watch Dogs Legion, F1 Managers and many more. It seems that the player base only goes down from the initial hype.

@@Frost-ux8jx The available content on console is huuugely reduced compared to PC where you have a billion mods to choose from. It is still quite a lot of content however and an amazing selection of cars. Do not expect however to do things on console as in driving with traffic or these large open world areas or those japanese twisty roads to go drifting. That's 100% the modding scene unfortunately. I hope that in the next AC they will put that in the base game

I ran it on a 650 Ti Boost, 120 fps. Played for years on a controller. Even modified the controller to get better. Drove first time with a wheel yesterday and am much slower. If you get the hang of it and dial the settings in just right for you there is lots of fun to be had with a controller.

Stick with the wheel ...I had the same experience on GT7 and it only took me a few weeks to go from slower with a wheel to beating all my old records on a wheel ...

Assetto corsa makes me happy. As someone in a 3rd world country who has a very slim chance to travel or get enough money, i can just boot up assetto corsa and drive around the green hell in a porsche 911 gt3 cup or take a relaxing drive around shutoku in a toyota mr2 after a long day at school. This game is really something, and i dont plan on ever deleting this off my system

AC is very satisfying game when you actually start driving good. I started playing this game for drifting mechanics, but now i love everything it has to offer. for anyone who has no sim racing or racing experience, it might be very difficult to learn, but i promise after all that struggle you are going to enjoy this game more and more.

The mods and the physic engine this game has is exemplary and the amount of time I've spent playing it either by myself or with friends is noting but absolute joy and close to a therapy session for me. Heck, one of my favorite pastimes is to drive on the Shouto Expressway in AC on my wheel and pedal whilst operating a Nissan Fairlady Z 2+2 (My affordable dream car that I finally own in NA that's being LS swapped by me and my mentor).

I think this game benefits from a rough start and slowly growing over time. A huge hype around a game inevitable leads to a large portion of the playerbase has seen everything at the same time. I still wish it had a decent driving school in the core game. But on the otherhand having to reach out online for help or input made a great community around the game.

i just got into it, i gave up on the new forza and i was looking for decent controller racing games and i couldn't be happier with it, after coming from the feature void and locked down motorsport its been amazing to be able to download all the tracks and cars i want and playing on modded servers is so much fun. for 9 dollars for the ultimate edition i couldn't be happier.

This is also a great VR racing sim, the base game is well optimized for VR, just have to be careful with some of the modded tracks and cars, so will kill the frame rate but others run really well. I started racing AC in VR on a i7 4790k, 16 gigs of ram, a GTX-980 with a Oculus CV1 HMD, some settings had to be turned down on this system but it was still a LOT of fun, now with my current system using a Reverb G2v2, I have all the eye candy turned on and it looks great and is still a lot of fun! :)

Ah i see you also went with the STRUGGLE, but yeah now on Quest 3 it's really on another level. Most people who play in VR are unaware that some cars and trucks are just high poly garbage, some of them like Fukuoka are fun but really high poly (around 95% cpu usage with 7800x3d, on Nordschleife for instance is 18% ). I personally don't use PP filter, just running Pure and supersampling at 1.3.

It entirely depends on the track surface and vehicle imo. Iracing has a significantly better dirt physics than AC (and this is from an AC fan) I also feel as though ACC has a much better tyre physics model than AC, the latter of which often feels quite numb to me, I am only on a T300, however. A DD wheel may liven it up a smidgen but I wouldn't hold my breath.

@@MorbidTorov you're not wrong on the poor ac dirt physics, but have you updated to the latest CSP 2.3PREV11?? It has introduced updated dirt / gravel physics that now make driving off-road / rally actually fun. Its no longer just a version of wet pavement but has actually made driving rally in AC super fun. They also further improved what I already believed to be one of the best sims re: FFB. Linear Color Space was the biggest of the new CSP feature improvements. Highly recommend installing the latest CSP and latest LCS compatible PURE. AC, thanks to Lija, Peter, and others just continues to rapidly improv & evolve.

Some of the games out there that have the most longevity and long-term success have mods. In the sim-space, BeamNG and KSP come to mind as an example. Both are right around a decade old but still very much kicking. Even BeamNG's predecessor Rigs of Rods is still receiving updates and new mods nearly 20 years into its existence. There are countless more examples of this, the most successful of which is Minecraft, which persists because of mods and regular updates.

I'm thinking of starting this game, but the main barrier for me is the lack of livery customization. As far as I can tell, there is no livery editor. I spend hours designing liveries and decorating my cars with them. I hope the version coming out in the next few months will have that feature.

That's most likely the no hesi server with someones graphics settings including reshade. More than likely you will have to pay a little bit of money (1-2 dollars) for the graphics settings that the person is using. I know Bloob has some good graphical settings if you want to go check him out. It's mainly just called "dashcam reshade settings".

Only got 184 hours, but I have a history in racing since as early as I can remember, currently 17 and can confidently say that this game on wheel has made me a better overall driver. Without the modding community, I would have never batted an eye at this game and I will be forever grateful for that.

Actually the only reason in recent years the game has gained such a popularity are mods, mods are keeping it alive There is literally mod for everything, Graphics mods make the game look much better than any game out there recently released. Tracks (Open World with traffic, racing tracks, drift tracks, drag.... you name it, you can find almost every track out there) Cars (Not only car mods, bikes, even effing shopping trolleys lol), infotainment systems that support RU-vid, Maps, Spotify..... This game came closest to the real-life as it can get thanks to modders.

500hours of singleplayer, just hotlapping, and a few races with ai, mostly in the f1 mods though. Want to give the servers a try, the shuotoko(dunno about the spelling), but rimworld is killing all my little freetime atm. Had Ac for like 3 4years now, learnt a lot about sim racing, but mostly hotlapping, since im terrible in an actual race, but great at hotlapping. Btw it's pretty easily moddable, with stuff like Ac tuner which you can adjust the performance, and you can get in depth with aero, and tire grip if you have the right info, annnd, even make bodykits of you're own in a software like blender if you got some 3d skills.

Pretty good video but glazed past some of the specifics such as Ilja Jusupov as a major developer who has created Content Manager and Custom Shaders Patch. Without his Patreon and the mod community support for $1 a month who has transformed this sim to have modern features, the vanilla user interface can barely handle the mod scene. Then there is Peter Boese who has developed first SOL and now Pure for weather control and scripting and who is moving everything to Pure LCS. Same thing, a $1 a month Patreon keeps this developer funded to continue his efforts. Then there are content creators like Jimmy Broadbent, Goosiest, and Slaptrain putting out content about this game all the time. Slaptrain got the No Hesi Discord to over 100k and there’s never been 100k peek active players on this game!

first. its the cheapest sim racing game you can buy second, its the easiest to run among all the other racing games third. the modding community is just so big that the whole game revolves around it fourth, in modern-day AC, you don't need to have a wheel to enjoy the game. I play with a mouse and keyboard i enjoy the experience alongside with my friends that uses wheel or controllers. thanks to modders that made controls more better and customizable to your fitting.

Yes, all of this. I do get the impression that a few of the more... dedicated/obsessive (pick your choice!) sim racers genuinely can't understand why someone wouldn't drop four figures on sim racing. You even occasionally see people actively sneered at for using, say, a Logitech wheel instead of some high-end direct drive model. That's not helpful to people who just want to have fun and don't care if the tyre model is 0.04% off, who are interested and want a low-risk way of trying sim racing for the first time and/or who just don't have that kind of money. Right now AC Ultimate Edition is £10.99 in the Steam sale, at least here in the UK. You can buy that and have lots of fun without doing anything more, even if you have quite an old PC. Then if you do like it, the mods come by the bucketful. These days I'm mostly in the "just want to have fun" category myself and AC scratches that itch beautifully. (For context, I used to race a lot back in the GPL/GTL era, back when a Microsoft SWFF wheel for £65 was the thing for non-ultra-rich sim racers to have, but then drifted away from racing games for a while. It was largely AC that brought me back.)

It is very nice, AC is great loved it a lot. But the time to move is coming. All these simracers will eventually have to start doing iR, rF2 and AMS more. Well and I guess AC2 if it will be decent. AC has reached such hights that it will be played for decades though.

The lack of any force feedback inputs will make it quit challenging to keep the car under control. Since you will have nothing to inform you about the grip level except for visual and audio clues. Xbox controllers will at least gives you rumbling effects.

nah the system requirements are way lower than that, im still running the game at ~60fps on a "Laptop" with integrated graphics (i5-5300u)

One main reason is that cheap computers lags so much that you cant exit the game

BeamNG modders have a skill issue. They cant do dev quality. Only a few come close. I stopped drifting in AC because i'm too used to beam on wheel and plus its a lot harder and I like a challenge.

It has one rival: BeamNG. But Beam is slightly harder to mod.

Beam has the absolute best soft body physics modeling of any game or simulator. Its literally the most realistic performing car/driving sim ever created. Its two biggest main short comings are not having a non-mod based multi-player UI (the MP mods aren't great either), and the biggest gripe I and others have is its poor FFB and wheel support. They are making improvements there with many more to come. Beam is a great sim made by some great enthusiasts who are active with developing the sim and who listen to the community. Also, agree on the mod side. Its awesome how much they support the mod community but it does need UI improvement. AC forever rules on the mod end and so much more

@@Turbo1602ti Can look good if you play around with it. You can throw some reshademe stuff on it and we big improvements. But honestly, that just means BeamNG devs should do it to the vanilla game

games with god modding community, where the owners of the game make it easy for modding, they are the ones that last. all the great games are still around becuase of that. Minecraft, GTA, legit Gmod

No people loved it who had wheels the issue is alot of players back then didnt have wheels but the wheel users loved it. Its not hard to understand back then we only had 2% of the sim racers with wheels we have now. 90% of people werent using a wheel so of course others didnt enjoy it not using a wheel.

no, the modders also made the other ways of controls better compared to the base game controller users now has the option to use scripts to help them aid or smoothen their input while mouse users like me can also fine-tune our throttle sensitivity. basically making the game accessible to literally everyone.
